William "Bill" Janiszyn, 86, of Wabash, Indiana passed away at 2:45 a.m. on Thursday, June 26, 2025, at his daughter's residence. He was born to Joseph G. and Mary T. (Wegrzyn) Janiszyn on August 27, 1938, in Detroit, Michigan.
Bill was served in the United States Air Force. He was a member of the American Legion Post 15 and VFW Post 286 in Wabash. He worked as a self-employed mechanic and for Wabash Alloys before retiring. He also owned and operated an excavating business.
Whether you knew him as family, ‘Bill’, or simply good ole ‘Polack’ - you certainly couldn’t deny his one-of-a-kind playful personality; smiles and laughter were easy to come by in his presence. Whether pulling up on the motorcycle with his favorite fuzzy four-legged companion - the late Patty Jo, squeezing in fishing trips with friends and family, hosting one of his infamous “stick parties” that all the grandchildren learned to dread (and now laugh at!), or sharing one of his signature sayings that reflected a genuine smile through his tone - he leaves behind a legacy that will inevitably bring about fond memories for many years to come.
Bill is survived by two daughters, Deborah Howard of Wabash, Indiana, Sherry Addison of LaFontaine, Indiana; one son, Gregory Janiszyn of LaFontaine, Indiana; 11 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; four sisters, Joanne Janiszyn of Addison, Michigan, Jenny Stros of Jerome, Michigan, Patricia Petrey of Onsted, Michigan, Kathy Smith of Hillsdale, Michigan. He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Eunice Janiszyn, one son, Steven Janiszyn, one daughter, Diana Rebholz, one grandson, David Sluss, and one sister, Betty Chapman.
Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 1, 2025, at Estates of Serinity Cemetery, 2225 South Lincoln Blvd, Marion, Indiana 46953.
McDonald Funeral Homes, Wabash Chapel, 231 Falls Avenue, Wabash, Indiana 46992, have been trusted with William Janiszyn’s final arrangements.
