Marion J. Higgley

Marion Jacqueline Higgley, 89, of Peru, passed away on Friday, May 24, 2019, at Dukes Memorial Hospital in Peru, Indiana.  Marion was born on November 21, 1929, in Knox, Indiana, to the late W.K. & Emma (Schultz Thompson) Delaplane.

Marion was a 1947 graduate of Wabash High School. Marion worked for 10 years, at General Telephone, as an operator. She also worked as a housewife and took care of her family. 

Marion was a member, for over 50 years and served as Chaplin for over 20 years, at the VFW Auxiliary Post 286, where she was the oldest member. Marion was a member of the Wabash Presbyterian Church, since 1930.  

Marion was an avid Chicago Cubs fan and she was also an avid fan of 105.9 The Bash Radio Show and of Wade Weaver, listening to his show faithfully everyday.  She also listened to TV church services every Sunday morning.  

Marion is survived by son, Mark A. Higgley, of Marion; daughter, Celeste (Ross Gallimore) Howard, of Durant, Oklahoma; companion, Larry D. Gidley; four grandchildren, Matthew Jason Higgley, of Cudahy, Wisconsin, Christi Marie (Todd) Bland, of Wabash, Thomas Barnes, III, of Jacksonville, Florida and Sara Jo Barnes, of Jacksonville, Florida; two great-grandchildren, Hayley and Joey Bland, of Wabash.  She was preceded in death by her daughter, Lisa Berelson; three brothers and two sisters. 

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, June 3, 2019 at McDonald Funeral Home, 231 Falls Avenue, Wabash, IN 46992.  Dave Phillips will be the officiant.  Calling hours will be two hours prior to the funeral service starting at noon.

Preferred memorials are to the VFW Auxiliary Post 286, 1078 West Old 24, Wabash, Indiana 46992 or to the Wabash County Cancer Society, P.O. Box 144, North Manchester, IN 46962.

Robert L. Thompson

Robert L. Thompson, 87, of LaFontaine, passed away at 5:26 p.m. on Saturday, May 11, 2019 at Miller's Merry Manor - East, in Wabash.  He was born on March 15, 1932, in Wabash County, to the late John S. and Leona (Beidel) Thompson.  
Robert married Lorraine Hopkins on November 11, 1956.  Robert was a farmer and he retired from General Motors in Marion, Indiana. He enjoyed traveling for his job at GM.  Robert also loved watching sports, especially IU and Purdue games.  He was an avid golfer, loved listening to Elvis and enjoyed riding tractors. Most of all, Robert loved his family and spending time with them.
Robert served in the National Guard and was a member of the United Automobile Workers Union.
Robert is survived by his wife, Lorraine; sons, Brian Thompson, of Wabash, Robert Thompson, of Frankfort, Dan Thompson, of Wabash and Michael (Trina) Thompson, of Phoenix, Arizona; daughter, Deborah (David) Conley, of Huntington; sisters, Dolores Snyder, of LaFontaine and Kay White, of Roann; nine grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and 19 great-great-grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by one brother.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 16, 2019, at McDonald Funeral Home, 104 South Main Street, LaFontaine, Indiana 46940, with burial following immediately at the LaFontaine IOOF cemetery.  Visitation hours will be from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 15, 2019, at the funeral home.

Henry Nathan "Nate" Edwards

Henry Nathan "Nate" Edwards, 80, of Wabash, passed away May 5, 2019, at his daughter's residence, in Silver Lake.  Nate was born on December 2, 1938, in Wabash, to the late Henry F. and Juanita V. (Shoemaker) Edwards. 

Nate married Carolyn S. Gant, in 1959; she passed away, in 1990.  In 1992, he married Arlene Hyden; she passed away, in 2017.  

After many years of service, Nate retired from General Tire, in Wabash. Nate was the former President of Wabash Cannonball Track.  He loved motorcycles, but most of all, he loved his family and grandchildren.

Nate is survived by two sons, David (Frances) Edwards and Nathan (Christie) Edwards, both of Laketon; three daughters, Robin (Alan) Keen, of Silver Lake, Joyce (Jeff) Hunt, of Wabash and Holly (Curt) Harris, of Silver Lake; one step-son Jim (Mindy) Woodward, of Peru; brother, Frank (Barbara) Edwards, of Wabash; one sister, Barbara (Mick) Gatchel, of Wabash; 12 grandchildren, four step-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by one brother, Paul Edwards.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 10, 2019 at McDonald Funeral Home, 231 Falls Avenue, Wabash, Indiana 46992. Burial will follow immediately at Memorial Lawns Cemetery, in Wabash.  Visitation will be from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m., on Thursday, May 9, 2019, at the funeral home.

Betty Jean Reahard

Betty Jean Reahard, 95, of Wabash, passed away at 6:37 p.m. on Thursday, May 2, 2019 at Miller's Merry Manor East in Wabash.  She was born on October 8, 1923 in Peru, Indiana to the late Charles & Genevieve (Siegfred) Butzin. 

Betty married James E. Reahard., Sr.  She worked at Kroger Egg in Wabash and was a member of the Grace Fellowship Church in Wabash.

Betty is survived by two sons, Robert (Julie) Reahard, of Wabash and James E. (Debbie) Reahard, Jr. of Somerset; daughter, Judy (James) DeWald, of Lincolnshire, Illinois; daughter-in-law, Pamela Reahard of Wabash; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her husband, James; son, Thomas Reahard; grandson, Scott Reahard and two brothers.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, May 6, 2019 at Mississinewa Memorial Cemetery in Somerset with Bill Bowling officiating.

Funeral services have been entrusted to McDonald Funeral Home, 231 Falls Avenue, Wabash, Indiana 46992. 

In lieu of flowers, preferred memorials are to the donor's choice.
