Allen H. "Bud" Sailors

Allen H. “Bud” Sailors, a lifetime resident of LaFontaine, Indiana passed away on his 91st birthday at 7:05 a.m. on November 24, 2014 at Rolling Meadows Healthcare Center in LaFontaine, Indiana. He was born to the late Russell and Mary K. (Hunt) Sailors on November 24, 1923 in LaFontaine, Indiana.
Bud served his country in the United States Army as an Infantry Medical Aide. He married Charlotte M. Murphy on July 12, 1943, she passed away on March 18, 2009. He was a member of LaFontaine United Methodist Church. Bud enjoyed attending Army reunions.
He is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Clarence (Diana) McNeeley of LaFontaine, Indiana, Mrs. Fred (Katherine) Tailor of LaFontaine, Indiana and Ms. Neva Boyd (Stephen Keen) of Marion, Indiana; 5 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, and 3 great great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by a daughter, sister, 2 brothers, 2 grandchildren, and 2 great grandchildren.
Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. on Friday, November 28, 2014 at McDonald Funeral Home, LaFontaine Chapel, 104 S. Main Street, LaFontaine, Indiana 46940, with Pastor Brad Wright officiating. Burial will follow in the LaFontaine IOOF Cemetery in LaFontiane, Indiana.

Mary Elizabeth Slinker

Mary Elizabeth Slinker, 72, formerly of California passed away on Sunday, November 23, 2014 at her home in Converse, Indiana. She was born to the late Rudolph Gale and Emma Berniece (Mettler) Courtney on March 21, 1942 in Vevay, Indiana.
She regularly attended the First Baptist Church in Kokomo, Indiana with her daughter, Berniece Roberts. She enjoyed going to country jam in Converse. She also enjoyed watching baseball, her favorite teams were the Cubs and Dodgers.
She is survived by a son, James William Banninger Jr. (Karla) of Twin Peaks, California; daughter, Berniece Roberts (Del) of Kokomo, Indiana; step daughter, Betty Joy Pittman of Franklin, Indiana; brothers, Robert Courtney (Alecia) of Wabash, Indiana and Donald Lee Courtney (Margaret) of Hartford City, Indiana; sister, Donna Marie Steele (Danny) of Wabash, Indiana; grandchildren, Thomas and James Hisey, Jessica Neumann and Andrew Banninger, Tyler and Austin Pittman, and Corey Slinker; and 6 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Billy Wesley Slinker and brother, John Gale Courtney.
Memorial service will be at 2 p.m. on Saturday, November 29, 2014 at McDonald Funeral Home 231 Falls Avenue, Wabash, Indiana 46992, with Pastor Tim Prater officiating. Burial will follow at a later date.

Robert Junior VanMeter

Robert Junior VanMeter, 90, of Silver Lake, Indiana passed away at 8:20 p.m. on Monday, November 17, 2014 at Wabash County Hospital in Wabash, Indiana. He was born to the late Fred and Helen (Shatto) VanMeter on October 31, 1924 in Jackson Township, Indiana.
Robert served his country in the United States Army Air Force during WWII, he was a gunner on the B Twenty Fives. He married Pat Smith in 1992, she survives. He was an agent for Allstate in Wabash, Indiana for 37 years, he retired after working for George Scheer for 2 years. He was a member of Faith Baptist Church in Wabash, Indiana.
He is also survived by his sons, Robert VanMeter (Debbie) of Troy, Ohio, Daniel VanMeter of Billings, Montana, Michael VanMeter of Kansas, Tony VanMeter (Karen) of Englewood, Texas; step sons, Alan Weitzel (Monica) of Akron, Indiana, Tim Weitzel of Toledo, Ohio, Eric Weitzel (Patty) of Silver Lake, Indiana, Patrick Weitzel (Kelly) of Andrews, Indiana; daughters, Mrs. William (Vickie) Tackett of Ocala, Florida and Mrs. Bruce (Dana) Harp of Logansport, Indiana; step daughter, Diane Weitzel of Peru, Indiana; brother, Richard VanMeter of Huntington, Indiana; sisters, Betty Wolfe of Fort Wayne, Indiana and Mrs. Rex (Sandy) Baxter of Huntington, Indiana; 20 Grandchildren and several great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Ronnie, 5 brothers and 4 sisters.
Funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. on Friday, November 21, 2014 at McDonald Funeral Home, 231 Falls Avenue, Wabash, Indiana 46992, with Pastor Dan Boone officiating. Burial will be at a later date at Star of Hope in Huntington County, Indiana. Preferred memorials are directed to Faith Baptist Church, 200 Linwood Lane, Wabash, Indiana 46992.

Roy W. Tudor Jr.

Roy W. Tudor Jr., 96, of Wabash, Indiana passed away at 2:14 p.m. on Friday, November 14, 2014 at his home. He was born to the late Roy V. and Hazel (Hummer) Tudor on July 27, 1918 in Wabash, Indiana.
Roy served his country United States Army during WWII and Korean Conflict. He married Iva M. Jones in 1960, she passed away in 1988. He retired from U.S.G. of Wabash, Indiana. Roy was a member of St. Bernard Catholic Church in Wabash, Indiana. He was also a member of American Legion Post 15 and VFW Post 286 both of Wabash, Indiana. He was very active in the local Honor Guard for over 30 years, he held the office of Past Post Commander of the VFW and several other offices in the VFW Post 286 of Wabash, Indiana.
He is survived by step daughters, Mary Amber (Jack) of Oklahoma , Paula Butcher (Herschel) in LaFontaine, Indiana; daughter, Sheila Tudor; son, Jeffrey Tudor; a step son, Steven Gordon in El Paso, Texas; sixteen grandchildren. He was preceded in death by step son, George Gordon, step daughters, Jeanette Stayton and Gayle Thompson, two brothers, and four sisters.
Funeral service will be 10 a.m. on Wednesday, November 19, 2014 at McDonald Funeral Home, 231 Falls Avenue, Wabash, Indiana 46992, with Father Sextus Don officiating. Burial will follow at Gardens of Memory in Marion, Indiana. Preferred memorials are directed to VFW Post 286 Honor Guard, P.O. Box 305, 3678 W. Old 24, Wabash, Indiana 46992.

Kimberly Nicole Swinehart


Kimberly Nicole Swinehart, infant daughter  of Leroy Eckols and Tawnia Swinehart passed away at 11:17 a.m. on Saturday, November 1, 2014 at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Her parents survive in Wabash, Indiana.
She is also survived by two brothers, Alex Koenig and Chad Eckols; four sisters, Jessica Hutchins, Alissa Ulrich, Elizabeth Sledge, and Molly Swinehart; and several aunts and uncles.
Funeral service will be 4 p.m. on Wednesday, November 5, 2014 at McDonald Funeral Home, 231 Falls Avenue, Wabash, Indiana 46992, with Pastor Bruce Hostetler.

Lillie Belle Young

Lillie Belle Young, 93, slipped away peacefully at 10: 35 a.m. on November 1, 2014 at Wellbrooke of Wabash. She was born on June 19, 1921 in Wabash County to the late Orville Ray and Brownie D. (King) Starbuck.  She graduated from Lagro High School in 1939.  She married Lynn C. Young on December 12, 1942 in Columbia City. During their 69 years of marriage they traveled to all 50 states and visited their favorite, which was Hawaii, three times.  Lynn passed away on December 24, 2011.  Wabash was her home for most of her life.  She retired from Sears Roebuck & Company in 1980 after 29 years of service.
Belle enjoyed gardening and was always very proud of her African Violets and her roses.  While living on Colerain Street people passing by would often admire her roses and stop to talk to her about them.
She was a resident of Bickford Cottage for a year prior to moving to Wellbrooke of Wabash in January of 2013.
She is survived by a sister, Iris Middaugh of Wabash, Indiana, and several nieces and nephews.  She was proceeded in death by five brothers:  Carl Starbuck, Harold Starbuck, Jim Starbuck, Dannie Starbuck and Gary Starbuck.  Two sisters, Jessie Ramey Hite and Gloria Saline are also deceased.
Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, November 5, 2014 at McDonald Funeral Home, 231 Falls Avenue, Wabash, Indiana 46992. Burial will follow at the Gardens of Memory Cemetery in Marion, Indiana. Preferred memorials are to Wabash-Miami Home Health Care & Hospice or Wabash County Historical Museum.
