Jackie Dale Orr

Jackie Dale Orr, 68, of Wabash, Indiana passed away at 2 a.m. on Sunday, June 26, 2016 at Autumn Ridge Rehab Centre in Wabash, Indiana. He was born to the late Elmer Ray and Emily Lucille (Bowles) Orr on July 1, 1947 in Wabash, Indiana.

Jackie worked at Arc of Wabash County for over 30 years and was loved by all. Jackie also had a love for music and when he heard a song he could tell you the artist and year.

Jackie is survived by his brothers and sisters, Alice Ross of Roann, Indiana, Gary Wayne (Betty) Orr of Houston, Texas, Linda Kay (Dave) Collins of Andrews, Indiana, Carol Jean (Craig) Engle of Wabash, Indiana, Cheryl Ann (Bill) August of Las Vegas, Nevada, Steven Randall (Gayelyn) Orr of Wabash, Indiana and Floy Hodson of Indianapolis, Indiana; and sisters-in-law, Peggy Orr of Wabash, Indiana and Mona Sue Orr of Morganton, North Carolina; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Jerry and Ray Orr.

Funeral service will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, June 29, 2016 at McDonald Funeral Home, 231 Falls Avenue, Wabash, Indiana 46992, with Pastor Terry Hinds officiating. Burial will follow in Falls Cemetery in Wabash, Indiana. Preferred memorials are directed to Arc of Wabash County, P.O. Box 400, Wabash, Indiana 46992.

Jane D. McVicker-Hulley

Jane D. McVicker-Hulley, 87, of Wabash, Indiana passed away at 12:25 a.m. on Saturday, June 18, 2016 at Miller Merry Manor West of Wabash, Indiana. She was born to the late Nick and Helena (Sims) Dorsaneo in Wayne, Pennsylvania on September 11, 1928.
Jane was a ballet dancer, she studied for 21 years. She taught ballet in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and Wabash, Indiana. Jane also was a Life and Health Insurance Agent. She loved to knit, cook, read and listen to music. Jane adored her family and loved spending time with them.

She is survived by her children, Robert McVicker (Cecile) of Willsboro, New York and Lesa (David) McVicker-Blair of Wabash, Indiana; sister, Helen Norley; 6 grandchildren, Tiffanie Jane Love, Jacob Scott Love and Randi Leigh “Peanut” Knotts all of Wabash, Indiana, Jarrid McVicker and Alexis McVicker both of Willsboro, New York and Kathleen Dombek in Westfield, Massachusetts; and 8 great grandchildren.

Jane’s wishes were to have no funeral services.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

Dean A. Proffitt

Dean A. Proffitt, 62, of Wabash, Indiana passed away at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, June 16, 2016 at Parkview of Wabash. He was born on September 19, 1953 in Wabash County, Indiana to the late David J. Proffitt and Vivian (Ogan) Proffitt, his mother survives in Wabash, Indiana.

He was a Southwood High School graduate, class of 1971. Dean was a general contractor and an excellent carpenter. He enjoyed refinishing antique furniture. Dean loved his family and spending time with his grandchildren.

Dean is also survived by a son, Kevin (Kassandra) Proffitt of Nappanee, Indiana; brothers, Dan Proffitt (Donna) of LaFontaine, Indiana and Roy Proffitt (Janel) of Peru, Indiana; sister, Mrs. Delores (Edward) Welsh of Hamilton, Ohio; and grandchildren, Kasyn, David, Emma and Taya Poffitt.

Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, June 21, 2016 at McDonald Funeral Home, LaFontaine Chapel 104 S. Main Street, LaFontaine, Indiana 46940, with Pastor Terry Hinds. Burial will follow at the LaFontaine IOOF Cemetery in LaFontaine, Indiana.

Delores W. Rife

Delores W. Rife, 97, of Wabash, Indiana passed away at 12:10 a.m. on Wednesday, June 15, 2016 at Millers Merry Manor West in Wabash, Indiana. She was born to the late Clyde and Ida May (Bodkius) Kessler on June 20, 1918 in Marion, Indiana.

She was a graduate from Lagro High School. Delores married Loran Rife Jr. on January 13, 1935, he passed away on July 17, 1979. She retired from US Gypsum and later worked for Bertsch Vending in Wabash, Indiana. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who loved all her kids and grandchildren. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary in Lagro, Indiana.

She is survived by two sons, Clyde (Jennifer) Rife of Lagro, Indiana, and Jay Rife (Tina) of Las Vegas, Nevada; four daughters, Janice Pitts of Indianapolis, Indiana, Patricia Bill (Les) of Columbia City, Indiana, Sally Miracle of Wabash, Indiana, and Markie Vogleman (Chuck) Spring Hill, Florida; 28 grandchildren, 69 great grandchildren and 40 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two sons, Nickky, Loren Lee, five brothers, and two sisters.

Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, June 20, 2016 at McDonald Funeral Home, 231 Falls Avenue, Wabash, Indiana 46992, with Pastor Tim Prater officiating.

Mary June Dice-Small

Mary June Dice-Small, 82, of LaFontaine, Indiana passed away at 10:34 a.m. on Monday, June 13, 2016 at Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne, Indiana. She was born to the late John T. and June P. (Cook) White on April 12, 1934 in Grandview, Indiana.

Mary June graduated from Banquo High School in 1952. She married John F. Dice on February 14, 1956 at LaFontaine Christian Church Parsonage, he passed away on March 17, 1969; she then married Ferris Small in 2002, he passed away in 2016. She worked at the LaFontaine Telephone office, Amco Deli, Pyles MFG. in Huntington, Indiana and in childcare. She was a member of Banquo Christian Church. Mary was also a member of Wayne Township Homemakers Club and Banquo Recycle Teenagers.

She is survived by a son, Joseph W. Dice of LaFontaine, Indiana; daughters, Joyce L. (James) Bell and Janice M. Dice both of LaFontaine, Indiana; brother, John T. White of Gentryville, Indiana; step children, Perry (Beverly)Small of LaFontaine, Indiana, Roger (Deb) Small of Warren, Indiana, Russell Small of Wabash, Indiana, Kyle (Dawn) Small of Banquo, Indiana, and Patlyn (Ken) Tieman of Roanoke, Indiana; 2 grandchildren, Sheena Bell of Van Buren, Indiana and Laura Bell of Banquo, Indiana, several step grandchildren, several step great grandchildren and 1 step great great grandchild. She was preceded in death by a step daughter, Rhonda Smith.

Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, June 17, 2016 at McDonald Funeral Home, LaFontaine Chapel, 104 S. Main Street, LaFontaine, Indiana 46940, with Pastor Harold Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Gardens of Memory in Marion, Indiana. Preferred memorials are directed to Banquo Christian Church, 8924 W. 1000th #35, LaFontaine, Indiana 46940.

Carol Ann Steele

Carol Ann Steele, 64, of Wabash, Indiana passed away at 5:02 a.m. on Saturday, June 11, 2016 at Autumn Ridge Rehab Centre in Wabash, Indiana. She was born to the late Luther and Zelma (Pontius) Steele on October 6, 1951 in Wabash, Indiana.

Carol enjoyed Elks Bingo and Knights of Columbus Bingo both of Wabash, Indiana.

Carol is survived by a brother, Richard Steele (Cheryl) of Wabash, Indiana; nephews, Hansford Lee Fannin, David Lee Fannin, Richard Lee Steele II, Keith Steele, Jerrod Steele and Jessie Rameriz; nieces, Emma Steele and Jessica Rameriz; 6 great nieces and 7 great nephews. She was preceded in death by a brother, Luther Devon Steele Jr., two sisters, Linda (Steele) Rodriguez and Beverly (Steele) Fannin and nephew, Chris Erb.

Visitation for family and friends will be from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. on Wednesday, June 15, 2016 at McDonald Funeral Home, 231 Falls Avenue, Wabash, Indiana 46992. Preferred memorials are directed to the funeral home to offset funeral expenses for Carol Ann Steele.
