Robert "Bob" Courtney Sr.

 

Robert "Bob" Courtney Sr., 77, of Claypool, Indiana, formerly of Wabash, passed away at 3:40 p.m. on Tuesday, May 30, 2023, at his residence in Claypool, Indiana. He was born to Rudolph and Emma (Mettler) Courtney on January 22, 1946, in Vevay, Indiana.  

Bob married Allene Phillips on July 5, 1969. She passed away on November 18, 2004. Robert then married Alecia Schlemmer on September 1, 2012. He worked as a machine tender at Container Corp. in Wabash, then retired in 2008. Bob loved music and dancing, and also enjoyed old cars and woodworking. Bob was a very kind and loving man, who knew no stranger. He was honest and trusted in a handshake. Bob loved life, loved his family, but most of all Loved God.

Bob is survived by his wife, Alecia Courtney of Claypool, Indiana; 6 sons, Robert (Kendra) Courtney of Pierceton, Indiana, Jeff Courtney of Pierceton, Indiana, Gale (Sherry) Courtney of Roann, Indiana, Gary (Stephanie) Courtney of Acworth, Georgia, John Walls of Warsaw, Indiana, and JR (Karla) Banninger of Twin Peaks, California; one step daughter, Amber (Mike) Bean of Peru, Indiana; 6 grandchildren, Lucas Courtney, Abigale Courtney, Zarek Courtney, Jocelyn Courtney, Kyle Courtney, Cole Courtney; one great-grandchild, Ethan Walls; one sister, Donna Steele; one sister-in-law, Judy Courtney. He is preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, John and Donald Courtney, one sister, Mary Slinker, and one grandson, James Robert Walls. 

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, June 4, 2023, at McDonald Funeral Home, 231 Falls Ave. Wabash, Indiana 46992 with Pastor Tim Prater officiating. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery in Pierceton, Indiana.

Visitation for family and friends will be from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 3, 2023, at the funeral home.

Lois Eileen Simons

 

Lois Eileen Simons, 94, of Wabash, united with her Heavenly Father on Tuesday, May 30, 2023. She was born on September 24, 1928, in Niles, Michigan, to McKinley and Helen Highley.

Lois graduated from Converse High School in 1949 in Converse, Indiana. Later in her life, after becoming a wife and mother, she went back to school and earned an associate degree in food science and continued to work as a Dietician. 

Lois joined the Wabash Christian Church in 1946 and on June 8, 1947, she married Charles Robert Simons with Rev. Russell Grubb officiating. Robert passed away on June 20, 2003. She was a loving and devoted mother of 3 children and was active in all the normal school activities. Her role in the church included being a Deaconess, Teacher, and Sunday School Superintendent and participated on countless committees. When the boys were small, she loved being a Cub Scout Den Mother and helping Robert with all the Scouting activities. Lois was the Food Services Director at Vernon Manor for many years. She spent countless hours as a volunteer with the American Cancer Society- Relay for Life and was a participant in the formation of the F.I.S.H. (Friends in Service Here) food pantry, in Wabash, where she continued to volunteer her time into the late 80's.

Lois was a devoted Wife, loving Mother, sacrificial giver of here time, talents and finances. She was a tireless prayer warrior and fill-in Grandmother to anyone who needed one. She had the gift of cleaning up whatever animal her son dragged home from a hunting trip and turning it into a feast fit for a king. 

Lois is survived by her son, B Douglas (Pamela) Simons of Wabash, Indiana; her only sister, Joyce Evenson of Wabash, Indiana; 4 grandchildren, Tricia (Josh) Simons-Ward, Thomas (Connie) Simons, Becky Simons, and Gary (Andrea) Agness; 6 great grandchildren, Hayley Caley, Hayden Linkenhoker, Jackson Simons, Allison Ulrey, Bailey (Caden) Keillor and Hannah Agness. 3 great-great-grandchildren, Harper, Lucas, and Layla Caley. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and all of her brothers, Harold (Judy) Highley, William Highley, Lewis (Barb) Highley, and Steven Highley. Also passing before Lois were her oldest son, Robert (Cheryl) Simons, her daughter, Debra Zoa (Gary) Sale, a grandson, Brian Douglas Simons, and a granddaughter, Mandy Leigh Sale. 

At Lois' request, there will be no viewing or funeral service. She has asked for a small graveside service for just family and close friends. That service will take place at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, June 8, 2023, at Mississinewa Memorial Cemetery, which will also celebrate the 76th wedding anniversary of Lois and Bob. 

In Lieu of flowers, Lois has asked that preferred memorials be directed to St. Jude Hospital, Tunnel to Towers, or any other organizations that the donor may choose.

Larry G. Grizzle

 

Larry G. Grizzle, 62, of Wabash, Indiana passed away at 7:20 a.m. on Monday, May 29, 2023, at Wabash Parkview Hospital. He was born to Henry and Hazel (Smith) Grizzle on November 26, 1960, in Dalonica, Georgia.

Larry was a 1979 graduate of Southwood High School. Larry worked for CMI in Wabash, Indiana. He then retired from Dana Corp as a machine repairman in Marion, Indiana. Larry enjoyed fishing, hunting, mushroom hunting, but most of all, he loved his family. He had a green thumb and was a master gardener, he was also an avid coin collector. Larry could also fix anything. 

Larry is survived by two sons, Jason (Soundria) Grizzle of Akron, Indiana, Aaron (Natalie) of Fort Wayne, Indiana; two daughters, Mandy (Josh) Nordman of Ossian, Indiana, Ashley (Jason) Dale of North Manchester, Indiana; 10 grandchildren; two brothers, Dan (Joanne) Grizzle of Lagro, Indiana, Charles Grizzle of Huntington, Indiana. He is preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Sherry Cramer. 

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, June 2, 2023, at McDonald Funeral Home, 231 Falls Ave. Wabash, Indiana 46992 with Pastor Eric Alwine officiating. Burial will follow at Falls Cemetery in Wabash, Indiana.

Visitation for family and friends will be from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 1, 2023, at the funeral home.

Larry Dean Harris

 

Larry Dean Harris, 61, a lifetime resident of Wabash passed away at 7:50 a.m. on Saturday, May 20, 2023, at his sister's residence in Urbana, Indiana. He was born to Francis and Rose (Bellock) Harris on January 12, 1962, in Wabash, Indiana.

Larry was a 1980 graduate of Wabash High School. He owned Handprints T-Shirt Screenprinting for many years, and also worked at the Wabash County Hospital. He worked at Bulldog Battery in Wabash, Indiana. Larry was also a self-employed house painter. He enjoyed music and playing his guitar. 

Larry is survived by one brother, John Harris of Urbana, Indiana; six sisters, Sue White of Wabash, Indiana, Nancy (Herb) Derryberry of Logansport, Indiana, Karen Keenan of Covington, Kentucky, Patty Hoagland of Urbana, Indiana, Marijane (Jay) Setser of Huntington, Indiana, Linda Leach of Wabash, Indiana. He is preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Earl Harris. 

Visitation for friends and family will be from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 25, 2023, at McDonald Funeral Home, 231 Falls Ave. Wabash, Indiana 46992. Burial will be at a later date at Memorial Lawns Cemetery in Wabash, Indiana.

Tristina Surine

 

Tristina M. Surine, 46, of Fort Wayne, Indiana passed away at 7:31 a.m. on Tuesday, May 16, 2023, at AMG Specialty Hospital in Muncie, Indiana. She was born on December 27, 1976, to Thomas and Linda (Shields) Eakright in Tennessee.

Tristina was a 1996 graduate of Southwood High School. She was a homemaker. 

Tristina is survived by her two sons, Devin (Kalah) Surine and Alex Surine, both of Fort Wayne, Indiana; her father, Thomas Eakright of Wabash, Indiana; one brother, Phillip (Ashley) Eakright of Wabash, Indiana; three nieces, McKenzie Eakright, Avery Eakright, Addison Eakright; and her companion, Kevin Mills of Fort Wayne, Indiana. She is preceded in death by her mother.

Per Tristina's request there will be no services.

Kathy Long

 

Kathy Renea (Burke) Long, 65, of Wabash, Indiana passed into eternity into the welcoming arms of her Lord Jesus Christ in the early morning hours of Sunday, May 14, 2023. She was born to Jack D. and Juda (Bowser) Burke on July 10, 1957.

Kathy was a 1976 graduate of Tippecanoe Valley High School. She retired from GDX in Wabash, Indiana. Kathy enjoyed doing crafts, ribbons, and baskets.

She leaves behind her loving mother, Juda Burke, while rejoicing in the arms of her dearly departed father, Jack Burke. Kathy also leaves behind her daughter, Jennifer (Matt) Long-Dillon, along with her longtime companion, Greg Waller. Kathy was a doting Granny to Matt & Jennifer Dillon’s children, Jemma and Jude. She was also a caring sister to her brothers Steve (Donna) Burke and Stacy Burke. She loved Greg’s daughters Jennifer (Russell) Gaston and Amy (Josh) Hause and Jennifer’s sons RJ & Ayden as her own grandsons and Amy’s daughter Darbey as her own granddaughter. She adored the entire Burke family and longed to see them every year in Paintsville, Kentucky at the Burke Family Reunion. Kathy cherished her little dog, Ace.

Kathy left us on Mother’s Day 2023, so we grieve as a family who missed one more chance to celebrate with her physically. Yet we do not grieve in vain. As Jesus has risen, those who repent and believe shall also rise. For now, as spirits to Heaven. Someday later, as resurrected bodies like Jesus, living with Him in a restored Heaven and Earth. We praise God for Kathy’s life and trust Him in her death.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, May 19, 2023, at McDonald Funeral Home, 231 Falls Ave. Wabash, Indiana 46992 with Pastor Soloman David officiating. 

Graveside services following the funeral service will be private for family only.

Calling hours will be one hour prior to the service from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Friday, May 19, 2023 at the funeral home.

We will miss her, but not forever. In lieu of flowers, the preferred memorial would be charitable donations to the Wabash Valley Dance Theater in care of McDonald Funeral Home.

Timothy Lee Faust

 

Timothy Lee Faust, 67, a lifetime resident of LaFontaine, Indiana passed away at 5:27 p.m. on Thursday, May 11, 2023, at his residence. He was born on July 12, 1955, to Ora E. and Betty (Templeton) Faust in Wabash County, Indiana.

Timothy was a 1973 graduate of Southwood High School. He then graduated from Ball State University in 1980 with a Bachelor of Science degree in general administration. He also graduated with honors from National Graduate Trust School at Northwestern University. Timothy played baseball, basketball, and golf in school. He spent a lot of time coaching his younger brother Tris and volunteering his time for Special Olympics. He spent his entire life working in loan and trust departments of different banks. He formerly worked for Summit Bank of Marion and then worked for Grant County State Bank in Swayzee as the Assistant Vice President and Trust Officer before retiring in December of 2022. Timothy was the current coordinator for the Grant County Special Olympics. 

Timothy is survived by two brothers, Tyrus E. Faust of LaFontaine, Indiana, Trisler E. Faust of Wabash, Indiana; one nephew, Blake (Tisha) Faust of LaFontaine, Indiana; three great nephews, Ashton Faust, Jarett Faust, and Gunner Faust, all of LaFontaine, Indiana. He is preceded in death by his parents. 

Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, May 19, 2023, at McDonald Funeral Homes, LaFontaine Chapel, 104 South Main Street, LaFontaine, Indiana 46940 with Pastor Brad Wright officiating. Burial will follow at LaFontaine I.O.O.F Cemetery in LaFontaine, Indiana.

Donald Mark

 

Donald E. Mark, 67, of Wabash, formerly of Elwood, Indiana passed away at 3:34 p.m. on Thursday, May 11, 2023, at Parkview Randallia Hospital in Fort Wayne, Indiana. He was born to James B. Mark and Delilah Daughtery on June 21, 1955, in Marion, Indiana.

Donald retired from the City of Elwood Water Treatment Plant. He loved to gamble, travel, fish, and hunt.

Donald is survived by his mother, Delilah Daughtery of Gas City, Indiana; step-mother, Vickie Mark of Wabash, Indiana; one daughter, Rachel (Josh) Knopp of Alexandria, Indiana; one grandson, Cole Mark Conley; brothers, Jack (Jayne) Mark of Wabash, Indiana, James (Linda) Mark Jr. of Holiday, Florida, Brad Daughtery of Tennessee; sisters, Sandra Mark and Sue Ann Atkinson, both of Wabash, Indiana, Kim (Kirk) Heyde of Huntington, Indiana, Cindy (Ronnie) Feluer of Warren, Indiana. Donald is proceeded in death by his father, and one son, William B.J. Mark, who passed away on December 19, 2007.

Mary E. Brane

 

Mary E. Brane, 81, a lifetime resident of LaFontaine, passed away at 8:02 a.m., on May 9, 2022, at St. Vincent Hospital Heart Center in Carmel, Indiana.  She was born in LaFontaine, on September 7, 1941, to Clarence and Dorothy (Parker) Stuber.

Mary was a graduate of LaFontaine High School.  She married Claude Allan on July 2, 1961. She was a homemaker. Mary was a member of the LaFontaine United Methodist Church. She was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star #301 LaFontaine, Indiana, LaFontaine Literary Club, LaFontaine Bridge Club, and was a Wabash County Health Department Board member.

Mary is survived by her two sons, Michael (Lori) Brane and Samuel (Patricia) Brane, both of LaFontaine; grandchildren, Meghan (Bryce) Doyle, Zachary Brane, Rachel Brane, Daniel (Jordan) Brane; and one great grandchild, Daisy Doyle. She is preceded in death by her parents and her husband.

Funeral services will be at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 13, 2023, at McDonald Funeral Homes, LaFontaine Chapel, 104 South Main Street, LaFontaine, Indiana 46940 with cousin Dr. Patricia Walters leading the service.  Burial will follow at LaFontaine IOOF Cemetery. 

Visitation will be from 1:00 to 2:30 p.m., on Saturday, May 13, 2023, at the funeral home.

Estefana White

 

Estefana White, 84, of Wabash, IN, passed away on Saturday, May 6, 2023, in Pensacola, Florida. She was born on December 26, 1938, to Herculano and Natalia (Tavara) Cruz in Dallas, TX.

Estefana was a longtime resident and raised her family in Wabash. She was a dedicated employee and retired from Dana in Andrews, IN, and then continued to be a caregiver for the elderly for many years. She was known for her talents at sewing and crocheting. In her spare time, Estefana liked to watch westerns on television and engage others in a competitive board or card game. She enjoyed shopping and always liked eating at Arby’s. She was strong in her faith and Estefana attended church and listened to gospel music as often as she could. Most of all, she adored her family. Estefana cherished the time spent with her family and treasured each family reunion. She was a devoted mom, wonderful grandmother, loving sister, exceptional aunt and a caring friend to many.

Estefana is survived by her children, Gary White of Tampa, FL, Kristopher White of Tampa, FL, Connie White of Wabash, IN, and Kathrine White of Pensacola, FL; brothers, Lucas Cruz, Joseph Cruz, Max Cruz, and Manuel Cruz; sister, Cerila Brim; 10 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and extended family members. She was preceded in death by her parents; 5 brothers; and 3 sisters.

Lola M. Glazier

 

Lola M. Glazier, 100, a lifetime resident of Wabash, Indiana passed away on Monday, April 24, 2023, at her daughter's residence in Alexandria, Virginia. She was born to Forrest G. and Eva (Cripe) Baer on July 8, 1922.

Lola was a 1940 graduate of Wabash High School then attended one year at Nebraska University. Lola married Charles Frederick Glazier on June 2, 1946. He passed away on May 22, 1981. She worked for Public Services Co. of Indiana and was a seamstress. Lola was a member of Wabash Presbyterian Church in Wabash, Eastern Star in Wabash, Indiana, and American Legion Post 15 Auxiliary. Lola was best knowing for seamstress and sewing work for six generations of families in the Wabash area. 

Lola is survived by her daughter, Sara Ellen Glazier of Alexandria, Virginia; six nephews, Thomas Hoover of Arizona, Richard Hoover of Illinois, Michael Bear of Florida, Joe Baer of Fort Wayne, Indiana, Tim Christle of Texas, Charles (Carol) Ply of Michigan; five nieces, Marian Denney of Wabash, Indiana, Nancy Flowers of Muncie, Indiana, Patty Glass of Wabash, Indiana, Donna Highley of Wabash, Indiana, Kathy Kolar of Centennial, Colorado. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, one son, Merle Glazier, one brother, Donald Baer, and three sisters, Marcea Hoover, Glenda Jones, Anna Lee Christle.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 7, 2023, at McDonald Funeral Home 231 Falls Ave. Wabash, Indiana. Burial will follow at Falls Cemetery.

Calling hours will be two hours prior to the funeral service from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m., May 7, 2023, at the funeral home.
