Cleo D. "CD" Snyder

Cleo D. “CD” Snyder, 96, of Wabash, passed away on Monday, December 30, 2019 in Fort Wayne.  He was born on November 27, 1923, in Larwill, Indiana, to the late Charles C. and Phoebe (Starner) Snyder.  CD married Wilma M. Hatten on November 24, 1954 in Chillocothe, Ohio. She passed away on September 14, 2003.
CD was a 1941 graduate of Pierceton High School where he played numerous sports. He was a 1951 graduate of Purdue University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in chemical engineering.   CD worked as a chemical engineer for Celotex in Wabash.  He retired in 1989.  CD owned many rental properties in Wabash.  CD was a member of the Christ United Methodist Church in Wabash.

CD served during World War II, in the United States Army as a Sergeant, from 1943 to 1946.  He fought in Europe, at the Battle of the Bulge, in December of 1944.
 
CD loved watching college basketball and cheering for IU.  He also loved to play golf.

CD is survived by one son, Charles L. (Betty) Snyder, of Kansas City, Kansas; three grandsons, Erick Sheldon, of Enid, Oklahoma, Ryan Snyder, of Kansas City, Kansas and Chase Snyder, of Kansas City, Kansas; one granddaughter, Colby Snyder, of Indianapolis and two great-grandchildren, Lola and Nora Sheldon.  He was preceded in death by two sisters.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, January 6, 2020, at McDonald Funeral Home, 231 Falls Avenue, Wabash, Indiana 46992.   Reverend Chris Tiedeman will be the officiant.  Entombment will follow at Memorial Lawns Cemetery, Wabash.

Calling hours will be from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 5, 2020, at the funeral home.

Preferred memorials are to Riley Hospital for Children in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Betty C. "Judy" Lafferty

Betty C. "Judy" Lafferty, 69, of Wabash, passed away at 12:45 p.m. on Thursday, December 5, 2019.  She was born in Paintsville, Kentucky on January 18, 1950 to the late Charles and Mary (Blair) Fairchild.  

Judy married George Lafferty in April of 1976; he passed away on February 28, 2019.  She worked as a homemaker and was a member of the Wabash Freewill Baptist Church.

Judy is survived by her daughter, Sherri Lafferty, of Wabash; stepson, Curtis Lafferty, of Wabash; four brothers, Paul Fairchild, Robby Fairchild, Jake Howard and Ernie Fairchild, all of  Kentucky and West Virginia; five grandchildren, Robbie Watson, Sara Lafferty, Kyle Lafferty, Brennan Albertson and Tristan Albertson.  She was preceded in death by two brothers, Don and Charles Fairchild.

Jay S. McDonald

Jay S. McDonald, 58, a lifetime resident of Wabash, Indiana, passed away at 2:55 p.m. on Sunday, November 24, 2019, at his residence after a short heroic battle with cancer.  He was born on February 12, 1961, in Wabash to Terry G. McDonald and Marcia L. Sharp.  

Jay was a 1979 graduate of Wabash High School.  He married Doris Jeannie White on June 12, 2004.  Jay was employed as a machinist with Zimmer Biomet in Warsaw, Indiana.  He was a member of Treaty Church of Christ.  

Jay is survived by his wife, Jeannie McDonald, of Wabash; parents, Terry (Carol) McDonald, of Wabash; two stepdaughters, Melissa Crump, of Wabash and Alisha Crump, of Greenfield; three stepsons, Shane Crump and Ryan Crump, both of Wabash, and Chris (Sandra) Crump, of Indianapolis; brother Jon D. McDonald, of Wabash; two stepbrothers, Scott Dwyer, of Fort Wayne and David (Mindy) Dwyer, of Greenwood; four nephews, Logan McDonald and Reece McDonald, both of Wabash, Dawson Dwyer and Davis Dwyer, both of Greenwood; one niece, Delaney Dwyer, of Greenwood and granddaughter, Izabella (Izzy) Orpurt, of Peru.  Jay is preceded in death by his mother, Marcia L. Sharp.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 30, 2019 at McDonald Funeral Home, 231 Falls Avenue, Wabash, Indiana 46992.  Pastor Ryan Weaver will be the officiant. Burial will follow at Falls Cemetery, Wabash.

Visitation for friends and family will be from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, November 29, 2019 at the funeral home.

Donald C. Dillon

Donald C. Dillon, 85, of Wabash, passed away at 8:40 p.m. on Friday, November 22, 2019 at Marion General Hospital in Marion, Indiana.  He was born in Grant County, on May 3, 1934, to the late Raymond and Nina Dillon. 

Donald married Donna Dailey on May 12, 1961. She still survives.  Donald retired from General Motors in Marion in 1998 after working there for 31 years. He was also a member of the LaFontaine United Methodist Church, The UAW Retirees - Local 977 General Motors, many bowling leagues in Wabash and Marion, former LaFontaine Lions Club member, Sympathy Club in Marion, Sunday School Superintendent, and he was the president of his 1952 LaFontaine High School Senior Class.

Donald is survived by his wife, Donna; three sons, Gary (Luann) Dillon of Wabash, Indiana, Brad (Lisa) Dillon of Peru, Indiana, and David Dillon of Wabash, Indiana; one sister Joyce (Bob) Summers of Wabash, Indiana; 11 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.  He was preceded in death by one daughter, Peggy Sue Ratliff, who passed away in 1999, and one sister.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 26, 2019 at McDonald Funeral Home, LaFontaine Chapel, 104 S. Main St. LaFontaine, Indiana 46940 with Reverend Susan Shambaugh officiating.  Burial will follow at LaFontaine IOOF Cemetery in LaFontaine.

Helen L. Garner

Helen L. Garner, 102, of Wabash, passed away at 4:03 a.m. on Monday, November 11, 2019 at Wellbrooke of Wabash.  She was born in Wabash, on June 20, 1917, to the late Asher and Mattie (Iry) Parrett. 

Helen married Vaughn Garner; he passed away on April 7, 1986.  Helen worked at Dannakers Restaurant and Billings in Wabash.

Helen is survived by three grandsons, Todd Murphy, Brian (Amy) Murphy and Jay (Sherry) Murphy, all of Wabash; seven great-grandchildren; Elizabeth Murphy, Kristen (Travis) Tackett, Emily Murphy, Kaitlyn (Eric) Ryder, Trevor Murphy, Brylee Murphy, and Brayden Murphy and one great-great-grandchild, Ella Marie Ryder.  She was preceded in death by one daughter, Kay Murphy, five brothers and four sisters. 

Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, November 15, 2019 at McDonald Funeral Home, 231 Falls Avenue, Wabash, Indiana 46992.  Burial will follow at Falls Cemetery in Wabash. 

Visitation for family and friends will be one prior to the funeral services starting at 9:00 a.m.

Linda "Sue" Eakright

Linda "Sue" Eakright, 66, of LaFontaine, passed away on Friday, November 8, 2019 at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne.  She was born on September 7, 1953 in Linton, Indiana, to the late Phillip R. and Dorothy M. (Stanton) Shields. 
Sue was a 1971 graduate of Oak Hill High School and a graduate of the RN program at IPFW.  She married Thomas D. Eakright on September 4, 1982.  She retired from her dream job at Marion General Hospital, where she worked as a registered nurse in the nursery.  
Sue loved craft shows, shopping and camping at Long Lake.  She also loved to bake and cook for her family and friends.  Sue especially loved and cherished her grandchildren.  
Sue is survived by her husband Thomas; son, Phillip (Ashley) Eakright, of Wabash; daughter, Tristina Surine, of Fort Wayne; granddaughters, McKenzie Eakright and Avery Eakright, both of Wabash; grandsons, Devin Surine and Alex Surine, both of Fort Wayne; sister Edna Mae Holderman, of LaFontaine.  She was preceded in death by two brothers, John Shields and David Shields. 
Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 13, 2019 at McDonald Funeral Home, LaFontaine Chapel, 104 South Main Street, LaFontaine, with Pastor Doug Barton officiating.  Burial will follow at LaFontaine IOOF Cemetery.

Isobel Eileen Ford

Isobel Eileen Ford, 95, of LaFontaine, passed away at 3:49 a.m. on Monday, November 4, 2019 at Rolling Meadow Health and Rehabilitation Center.  She was born in Marion, Indiana on August 3, 1924, to the late Milford and Flossie Blossom (Prime) Freeman.
Isobel was a 1942 graduate of Marion High School. She retired from Foster Forbes in Marion. Isobel was a member of LaFontaine Christian Church and the Lagro American Legion Auxiliary, where she served as a treasurer.
Isobel married Wayne Guenin on August 4, 1943; he passed away in 1978.  She then married Basil Ford on July 24, 1982; he passed away in 1991. 
Isobel is survived by three sons, Gordon (Julie) Guenin, of LaFontaine, Glenn Guenin and Gary Guenin, both of Lagro; stepson Jon (Karen) Guenin, of LaFontaine; seven grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by one grandchild, Heiddii Guenin, one brother and one sister.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, November 7, 2019 at McDonald Funeral Home, LaFontaine Chapel, 104 South Main Street, LaFontaine, Indiana 46940 with Pastor Brad Wright officiating.  Burial will follow at Gardens of Memory in Marion.

Evelyn Owen-Wargo

Evelyn Ann Owen-Wargo, 81, of Valparaiso, passed away peacefully at home, Wednesday, October 30, 2019.  She was born August 29, 1938 in LaFontaine, Indiana to Charles and Inez (Sirk) Hall.  Evelyn retired in 1996 from Gary Wirt High School, after teaching for over 30 years.

Evelyn is survived by her husband of over 20 years, Bruce W. Wargo; children, Brad (Joni) Owen, Cathy (Ken Gagne) Owen, and Dennis Wargo; grandson, Bradley Owen; sister, Esther (Ray) Terrel; sister-in-law, Alice Hall; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings, Joseph, Willeta (Ernie), Dale (Mary), Art, and, Earl Hall.

Visitation will be Sunday, November 3, 2019 from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. CST at Moeller Funeral Home 104 Roosevelt Rd., Valparaiso, Indiana with a funeral service beginning at 2:00 p.m. CST.

Donna J. Haneline

Donna J. Haneline, 76, of Wabash, passed away at 8:30 a.m. on Sunday, October 27, 2019, at IU Health University Hospital in Indianapolis.  She was born in Sarah Ann, West Virginia on July 11, 1943, to the late Charlie and Louise (Morrison) Hunt.

Donna graduated from Logan High School and she attended Concord University in West Virginia.  She married Robert E. Haneline on May 11, 1963.  Donna retired as a public assistant worker for the State of Indiana.  

Donna enjoyed reading, hanging out with Ayden and having lunch with her friends.  She loved spending time with family including her daughter-in-law's family, which had become her own family. She also loved visits from her friend, Melissa Rigle, who she fondly referred to as her daughter.  

Donna is survived by her husband, Robert; one son, Thomas E. (Pamela) Haneline, of Wabash; one brother, Clifford Hunt, of Wabash; two sisters, Marcella (Paul) Johnson and Irene Centers, both of Versailles, Kentucky and two grandchildren, Keaton Wilkerson and Ayden Haneline, both of Wabash.  She was preceded in death by one son, Richard Lee Haneline and one sister, Opal Hunt LeMaster. 

Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m., on Saturday, November 2, 2019, at McDonald Funeral Home, 231 Falls Avenue, Wabash, Indiana 46992, with Ralph Johnson, Jr. officiating.  Burial will follow at Friends Cemetery in Wabash.

James D. "Jim" Schetzsle

James D. "Jim" Schetzsle, 65, of Warsaw, passed away on Wednesday, October 9, 2019, at his residence.  He was born in Norfolk, Virginia, at the Norfolk Naval Hospital, on January 3, 1954, to John B. and Carol (Denney) Schetzsle.

Jim was a 1972 graduate of Wabash High School.  He retired from John B. Schetzsle & Sons.  Jim also worked and sold cars for Steve Pusnak.  Jim enjoyed woodworking and was a skilled woodworker.  

Jim is survived by his parents, John and Carol; two brothers, Edward D. Schetzsle, of Corpus Christie, Texas and Richard B. Schetzsle, of Murfreesboro, Tennessee; three sisters, Christina  (James) Snavely-Hite, of North Webster; Anita Schetzsle, of Peru and Mary (Christian) Reismeier, of Virginia Beach, Virginia. Jim was a loving Uncle and is survived by the following nieces, Jennifer (Chittick) Driscoll, Eileen R. Smith, Stephanie (Schetzsle) Cruz, Anna (Snavely) Coello, Brittany Schetzsle, Holly Schetzsle, Courtney Schetzsle, Jami (Chittick) Gatchel, Sarah Snavely, Lisa Snavely, and Elise Reismeier; nephews, Jonathon Schetzsle, Scott Schetzsle, Kyle Snavely and Jeramie Chittick.  He was preceded in death by one sister, Linda S. Schetzsle-Smith.  

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 13, 2019 at St. Bernard Catholic Church, 191 North Cass Street, Wabash, Indiana, with Father Levi Nkwocha officiating.  Burial will follow at Falls Cemetery, in Wabash.

Glenna A. Matthews


Glenna A. Matthews, 86, of Wabash, passed away on Wednesday, October 9, 2019, at Peabody Retirement Community in North Manchester, Indiana.  She was born in Wabash, Indiana on September 24, 1933, to the late Herbert & Thelma (Axe) Slagel.

Glenna married Robert E. Matthews on August 20, 1952; he passed away on December 3, 2018.  She was a member of the Bachelor Creek Church of Christ.  Glenna worked as a homemaker.

Glenna is survived by son, Dan (Kim) Matthews, of Somerset; daughter, Kim (Chuck) Hendrix, of Wabash; sister, Gloria Garrison, of Wabash; grandchildren, Trisha (Aaron) Eckman, of Wabash, Mike (Amy) Matthews, of LaFontaine, Nick (Jeanette) Hendrix, of Fort Wayne, T.J. (Tou) Hendrix, of Westfield, Indiana, and ten great-grandchildren.  Glenna was preceded in death by three brothers and one sister. 

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 12, 2019 at McDonald Funeral Home, 231 Falls Avenue, Wabash, Indiana 46992.  Pastor Mike Duggan will be the officiant.  Burial will follow immediately at Memorial Lawns Cemetery in Wabash. 

Visitation will start at 90 minutes before the funeral services, at the funeral home, beginning at 9:30 a.m.

Robert Gene Pressler


Robert Gene Pressler, 79, of Indianapolis, passed away at 7:55 a.m., on Saturday, October 5, 2019, at Eskenazi Hospital in Indianapolis.  He was born in Wabash, to the late Eugene L. & Annabelle R. (Clupper) Pressler on July 7, 1940.
Robert was a 1959 graduate of Wabash High School.  After high school, Robert attended LeTourneau Tech Institute in Long View, Texas and then served in the United States Navy.  After college and the Navy, he worked as a trouble shooter for several electronic factories in Indianapolis. 
Robert is survived by his brother, Ronald (Judy) Pressler, of Wabash; sister, Janice (Patrick) Flinn, of Anthem, Arizona; ten cousins, two nephews, two nieces, two great-nephews and two great-nieces.  
A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 9, 2019 at LaFontaine, IOOF Cemetery. Conrad Thompson will be the officiant.

Norma Jean Bowman

Norma Jean Bowman lived her life serving Jesus and her family.  Norma’s faith in the Lord helped established the Christ-centered spiritual foundation for her five children, eighteen grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Norma Jean Bowman, 89, LaFontaine, passed away at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 2, 2019, at her residence.  Norma was born in Wabash, on May 3, 1930, to the late Dan & Edna Wendel.

Norma was a graduate from Lagro High School.  She married Charles K. Bowman on January 27, 1950; he passed away on March 5, 2013.  Norma was fabulous homemaker, who took pride in caring of her family.  

Norma is survived by two daughters, Diane Curless, of Katy, Texas and Joy (Kenneth) Parson, of LaFontaine; three sons, Dan (Georgann) Bowman and Kevin (Kymber) Bowman, both of LaFontaine, and Kerry (Melissa) Bowman, of Temecula, California; eighteen grandchildren, Jennifer Curless, Brandon Curless, Trisha Curless-Graves, Robbie Curless, Danielle Shaw, Laura Langebartels, Lindsay Rhodes, Michael Bowman, Amber Lewis, Kyle Bowman, Evan Bowman, Amy Hobson, Ryan Bowman, Zac Bowman, Levi Bowman, Grace Bowman, Aaron Parson, and Ashley Parson and eight great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by one brother, Howard Wendel.

Funeral services are at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, October 7, 2019 at McDonald Funeral Home, LaFontaine Chapel, 104 South Main Street, LaFontaine, Indiana 46940. Burial will follow at Grant Memorial Park in Marion, Indiana.
