David Clinton Meyer

David Clinton Meyer, 71, of North Manchester, Indiana passed away at 6:45 p.m. on Thursday, September 22, 2016 at his home. He was born to the late Everett C. and A. Eileen (Haymond) Meyer on January 5, 1945 in Wabash, In.

David married Joanne Patricia “Pat” Elsner on June 8th, 1968; she survives in North Manchester, Indiana. He retired from the United States Army and also as a warehouse manager. David was a member of the North Manchester United Methodist Church and the National American Legion.

David is also survived by a daughter, Mrs. Eileen (Robert) Meyer Sklar of North Manchester, Indiana; a brother, Alan Douglas Meyer of Huntington, Indiana; and grandchildren, Emma and James Sklar.

There will be a celebration of life service for his mother, Eileen Meyer and himself on October 1st, 2016 at North Manchester United Methodist Church, 306 E 2nd St, North Manchester, IN 46962, at 4 p.m. Friends and family may call 1 hour prior to the service. Mary Elizabeth Hornaday Silvers

Mary Elizabeth Hornaday Silvers, 98, of LaFontaine, Indiana passed away at 2:10 p.m. on Wednesday, September 28, 2016 at Rolling Meadows Healthcare in LaFontaine, Indiana.
She was born on May 25, 1918 in Zionsville, Indiana to the late Ernest and Emma (Moos) Hornaday. Mildred Louise Hornaday Berry Wood, her loving twin sister was born 20 minutes later.

Mary was a 1936 graduate from Zionsville High School. In 1937 she graduated from Approved University of Beauty Culture in Indianapolis and was a beautician in Zionsville, Indiana for 4 years and later in LaFontaine, Indiana for several years.

Mary married George Alvin Silvers of LaFontiane, Indiana on September 28, 1940 in the home of Edwin (Huck) and Mildred Beery in Westfield, Indiana by Rev. Frank Schottelkorb. They resided in LaFontaine and she lived in the same house 74 years before moving to Rolling Meadows Health and Rehabilitation in LaFontaine, Indiana.

She had been a member of the Zionsville Christian Church until moving her membership to the LaFontaine United Methodist Church where she was active in church activities, especially her favorite, going to and helping with church rummage sales for 38 years. In her earlier years she had been active in LaFontaine Eastern Star Chapter #301, Past Matrons Club, Literary Club, Wesleyan Circle, and card clubs.
Mary was employed by LaFontiane High School as an aid to teachers and also clerk treasurer of the school from 1954-1962. She was employed in 1974 by Shangri-La Nursing Home now Rolling Meadows.

Survivors include son, William (Judie) Silvers of Fort Wayne, Indiana; daughter, Mrs. Carolyn Blake of LaFontaine, Indiana; grandchildren, Troy (Joy) Silvers of South Elgin, Illinois and Lisa Blake Heath of Indianapolis, Indiana; step grandson, Mike (Michelle) Blake of Marion, Indiana; great grandchildren, Taylor Silvers, Jordan Silvers, and Alyvia Powell; step great grandsons Ryan (Sherry) Teagle and Tyler (Sara) Blake; step great great grandchildren, Reese and Miles Teagle and Rylei and Tryston Blake. She was preceded in death by her husband, George Silvers in 2000; Father Ernest Hornaday and Mother, Emma Hornaday; In Laws, William Silvers and Belle Silvers; Son in Law, H.E. (Hody) Blake; step great great grandsons, Braden Blake and Ian Blake; Brothers in law, Edwin Beery and Fred Wood; and Twin Sister, Mildred Berry Wood.

Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, October 2, 2016 at McDonald Funeral Home, LaFontaine Chapel, 104 S. Main Street, LaFontaine, Indiana 46940, with Pastor Crystal Jacobson officiating. Burial will follow at the LaFontaine IOOF Cemetery in LaFontaine, Indiana. Preferred memorials are directed to LaFontaine United Methodist Church, 2 W. A. Eileen Meyer

A. Eileen Meyer, 97, of North Manchester, Indiana passed away at 12:10 p.m. on Saturday, September 17, 2016, at Peabody Retirement Community in North Manchester, Indiana 46962. She was born to the late George M. and Cleo Toy (Keel) Haymond on November 9, 1918 in Wabash County, Indiana.

Eileen married Everett C. Meyer on December 25, 1940, he passed away in 1961. Eileen was a school teacher for 24 years, she taught for 2 years in the North Manchester School and 22 years for Wabash City Schools. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Wabash, Indiana. Membership also include Delta Kappa Gama, Eastern Star Past Matron of Wabash, Indiana, and life memberships of National Education Association, Retired Teacher Association, and Wabash County Retired Teachers.

Eileen is survived by two sons, David Clinton Meyer (Joanne Patricia Elsner) of North Manchester, Indiana, and Alan Douglas Meyer of Huntington, Indiana; sister, Mildred M. Wycoff of Mitchellville, Maryland; granddaughter, Mrs. Eileen P. (Robert) Meyer Sklar of North Manchester, Indiana; and two great grandchildren, Emma and James Sklar both of North Manchester, Indiana. She was preceded in death by a brother, George M. Haymond.

Rodney L. Rhoades

Rodney L. Rhoades, 49, of rural Wabash, Indiana passed away at 9:31 p.m. on Wednesday, August 31, 2016 at Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne, Indiana. He was born on February 8, 1967 in Wabash, Indiana to the late Chauncey Leo Rhoades Jr. and his mother, Judy (Campbell) Rhoades, she survives in Wabash, Indiana.

Rod was a 1985 graduate from Northfield High School. He married Shelley Crager on July 16, 1988, she survives in Wabash, Indiana. Rod was a member of United Steel Workers Wabash Papermill Local 285. He worked for Wabash Papermill and he loved his co-workers. Rod was also involved in the Farmer’s Market Community for several years.

Along with his wife, Shelley and mother, Judy; Rod is also survived by his son, Aaron Rhoades and daughter, Kayla Rhoades both of Wabash, Indiana; maternal grandmother, Rosea Campbell of Wabash, Indiana; sister, Mrs. Rhonda (Charles) Edmond of Wabash, Indiana; nieces, Jennifer Daugherty of Indianapolis, Indiana, Megan Kerr of Nevada, and Allison Edmond of Wabash, Indiana; brother and sister in laws; his boys, Cooper and Rocky and cats, Autumn and Oscar.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. on Wednesday, September 7, 2016 at McDonald Funeral Home, 231 Falls Avenue, Wabash, Indiana 46992, with Pastor Rick Harrison officiating. Burial will follow at

Mark A. Wells

Mark A. Wells, 56, of LaFontaine, Indiana passed away at 4:46 p.m. on Wednesday, August 31, 2016 in LaFontaine, Indiana. He was born to the late James and Marguerite (Allen) Wells on June 13, 1960 in Marion, Indiana.

He was a Tech for United Technologies in Huntington, Indiana. He served his country in the United States Army.

He is survived by his son, Chad Wells of LaFontaine, Indiana and daughter, Tammy McGuinn of Marion, Indiana; granddaughter, Delaney McGuinn; sister, Karen Wells of Anchorage, Alaska; and partner of 5 years Susan Summers and former wife, Phyllis (Wells) Cox.
