Bonnie H. Roberts

Bonnie H. Roberts, 86, of Wabash, passed away at 5:32 p.m., on Tuesday, August 27, 2019, at Wellbrooke of Wabash.  Bonnie was born in Santa Rosa, California on July 6, 1933, to the late Clifton Brown and Leora (Hurd) Ledebur.  

Bonnie worked for twelve years at the State Hospital in California.  

Bonnie is survived by one son, George Blair, of Kokomo; two daughters, Karen (William) Moore, of Roann and Colleen (Gregg) Kniss, of Peru; two sisters, Laurie (Guy) Udby, of Sonoma, California and Patricia (Hank) Field, of Lenwood, Washington; eight grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her first husband, George Blair and then married, Jeff Roberts, who preceded her in death. Also preceding Bonnie in death are one son, Steve; one brother and one sister.

Per Bonnie's request, there will be no services.

Velma Petro-Pearce

Velma Petro-Pearce, 92, of Wabash, passed away at 5:13 a.m., on Tuesday, August 20, 2019, at Bickford of Wabash.  She was born in Sweetser, Indiana, on August 25, 1926, to the late Frank and Opal (Flook) Berry.

Velma married Grant Petro in 1943; he passed away in 1996. Velma then married Thomas Pearce on April 8, 2002; he passed away on June 11, 2017. Velma worked as a homemaker and was affiliated with the Church of Christ.

Velma is survived by two sons, Joseph (Cheryl) Petro, of Wabash and John (Sharon) Petro, of LaFontaine; daughter, Pam (Jerry) Whitener, of LaFontaine, Indiana; two step-sons, Randy (Jerri) Pearce, of LaFontaine and John (Vickie) Pearce, of Marion; three step-daughters, Barbara (Ernie) Ball, of Amboy, Teresa (Danny) Tracy and Collen (Kerry) Tracy, both of Cheney, Kansas; sister, Bernice Adamson, of Upland; 7 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Also surviving are 16 step-grandchildren and several step-great-grandchildren and step-great-great-grandchildren.  Velma was preceded in death by one brother, three sisters, one step-daughter, one step-grandchild and one great-grandchild.

Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, August 23, 2019, at McDonald Funeral Home, LaFontaine Chapel, 104 South Main Street, LaFontaine, Indiana 46940 with Pastor Dave Phillips officiating.  Burial will follow at Maple Grove cemetery in Sweetser.

Visitation for friends and family will be two hours prior to the funeral service, starting at 11:00 a.m.

Preferred memorials are to the nursing staff at Bickford of Wabash, 3037 West Division Road, Wabash, Indiana 46992.

Dorothy J. Timmons

Dorothy J. Timmons, 98, of Wabash, passed away at 7:40 a.m. on Tuesday, August 13, 2019 at Miller's Merry Manor - East, in Wabash.  She was born on July 25, 1921, in Wabash County, to the late Walter L. and Edith (Young) Martin.   

Dorothy was a 1939 graduate of Linlawn High School. She retired from First National Bank of Wabash.  

Dorothy is survived by her son, Tom Timmons, of Montpelier, Ohio; daughter, Karla Ansel, of Wabash; five grandchildren, Brian Hults, Jeff Hults, Renee Sheets, Kelly Timmons and Dustin Timmons. She was preceded in death by brother, Robert Martin and sister, Joan Stitz.

Per the family's request, there will be no services.

Anna Boucher

Anna M. Boucher, 64, of Somerset, passed away at 1:00 a.m., on Friday, August 9, 2019, at her residence.  She was born on February 25, 1955 in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, to the late Wilfred A. and Anna C. Boucher.

Anna is survived by one sister, Margaret "Peggy" Cavanaugh and one brother, Al Boucher, both of Dover, New Hampshire; and friend, Eric J. Sonafrank, of Somerset.

There will be no funeral services.

Meredith E. Speicher

Meredith E. Speicher, 89, of Wabash, passed away on August 3, 2019 at his residence.  Meredith was born October 6, 1929, in his family’s home, in Wabash County, to the late Otto and Ruth (Rager) Speicher.
Meredith was a 1949 graduate of Lincolnville High School.  As a young adult, Meredith was very active in Farm Bureau’s Rural Youth program.  During his membership from 1950 to 1960, he held multiple offices, including; Devotional leader, co-president, district president, state second vice president, state first vice president and state president. 
Meredith served in the United States Army from 1955 to 1957.  He was a lifetime farmer and retired from the Wabash County Highway Department.
Over the years, Meredith donated 34 gallons of blood to the American Red Cross.  He participated in Mission trips to Haiti.  Meredith was a member of the Lincolnville United Methodist Church, where he was a Sunday school teacher for 50 years.
Meredith is survived by four nieces, Judith (Donna Prince) Wray, of Indianapolis, Anita (Rudy) Ketchem, Colleen (Gregg) Gatzimos-Reed, and Coral Kirby, all of Wabash.  He is also survived by multiple grand, great and great-great-grand nieces and nephews.  Meredith was preceded in death by two sisters, Lodema Kirby and Oma (Carol) Hoch; one niece, Karen Thompson and two nephews, Jay Hoch and Wayne Hoch.
A memorial service will be held at the Lincolnville United Methodist Church, 5848 E 500 S, Wabash, IN 46992 at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 18, 2019 with Doug Barton and John Cook officiating.  Per Meredith’s request, he will be cremated and interred at Fairview Cemetery in Servia, Indiana.
Preferred memorials are to the Lincolnville United Methodist Church, 5848 E 500 S, Wabash, IN 46992.

Wayne D. Carpenter

Wayne D. Carpenter, 67, a lifetime resident of Wabash, passed away after complications of a fall, on Thursday, August 8, 2019 at Parkview Randallia Hospital in Fort Wayne.  He was born on April 22, 1952 in Wabash, to the late Paul and Barbara (Snell) Carpenter.  

Wayne was a 1970 graduate of Wabash High School.  He was retired.  Wayne played softball with the Wabash Majors, from 1978 to 1982.  After playing, he was a volunteer coach in the Wabash community.  Wayne loved helping at Pathfinder Services.  He was a foster parent for 9 years.  

Wayne is survived by his former wife, Karen (Glassburn) Carpenter; three sons, Cory (Somer) Carpenter, of Greenwood, Indiana, Tyson Carpenter and Maxwell Carpenter, of Wabash; two daughters, Megan Fields, of Wabash and Kaylee (Joseph) Gates, of Fort Wayne; one brother, Brian Carpenter, of Wabash; three grandchildren, Knydal Fields, Keaton Fields and Kylie Carpenter.  

Calling hours for friends and family will be from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m., on Sunday, August 18, 2019 at McDonald Funeral Home, 231 Falls Avenue, Wabash, Indiana 46992.

Bonnie J. Garlish

Bonnie J. Garlish, age 79, of LaFontaine, Indiana, went to be with her husband, Garry Garlish, on August 3, 2019. She was born on March 24,1940 in Peoria, Illinois to the late Paul and Laura Alice (Buckner) Turner. She was a devoted mother to Lynn Bauer (Brian), of Hartford City, Lori (Mike) Brane, of LaFontaine and Loretta (Bob) Mottram, of Huntington.

Bonnie was a dedicated grandmother to Taran, Lauren, and Victoria Bauer, Meghan (Fiancee, Bryce Doyle) and Zachary Brane, as well as, Tosha Barron and Seth Mottram. She was a great-grandmother to Trenton, Brayton and Jackson Bauer, Eli and Hunter Barron.

Sister, Evelyn (Gordon) Wallace, of Peoria, Illinois; sister-in-law, Nancy Garlish, of Sun Lakes, Arizona; brother-in-law, Henry (Janice) Garlish, of Farmington, Illinois. She was preceded in death by sister, Dorothy (Lavern) Meyers and brother-in-law, Steve Garlish.

Bonnie graduated from Farmington High School in Illinois.  She married Garry Garlish on September 6, 1958; he passed away on September 15, 2005.  Bonnie worked in Real Estate and worked in retail.  

Funeral services will be at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 10, 2019 at LaFontaine United Methodist Church, 2 West Kendall Street, LaFontaine, Indiana 46940 with Pastor Susan Shambaugh officiating.  Burial will follow at the LaFontaine IOOF Cemetery.  

Visitation will be at the church, two hours prior to services, starting at 2:00 p.m.

Services have been entrusted to McDonald Funeral Home, 104 South Main Street, LaFontaine. 

Preferred memorials are to LaFontaine United Methodist Church.

Martha L. Robinson

Martha L. Robinson, 92, of Wabash, passed away on Monday, July 29, 2019 at Wellbrooke of Wabash.  She was born on January 31, 1927, in Wells County, to the late Homer E. and Nola (Hoover) Harvey.  

Martha married Charles H. Robinson on August 17, 1946; he passed away on June 21, 2005.  Martha worked as a homemaker.  She was a member of Treaty Church of Christ and a former member of the Liberty Township Homemakers Club. 

Martha is survived by two sons, Larry C. (Pat) Robinson, of Somerset and Jared L. (Amy) Robinson, of Roann; two daughters, Kathy (Larry) Steele, of LaFontaine and Sandy Stengel, of Auburn; 19 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by daughter, Deborah Grant; great-granddaughter, Karsyn Bratch; two sisters and two brothers.  

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, August 5, 2019 at McDonald Funeral Home, 231 Falls Avenue, Wabash, Indiana 46992.  Burial will follow at Gardens of Memory in Marion. 

Friends and family may call two hours prior to the funeral service, starting at 9:00 a.m., at the funeral home.
