Dominick Ray Hubbard

Dominick R. Hubbard, 23, of Wabash, passed away at 2:42 p.m. on August 20, 2020 at Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne.  He was born on April 12, 1997, in Wabash, to Richard (Nichole) Hubbard, Jr., and the late Tabetha Flynn.

Dominick was a loving father, son and brother.  He had a big heart for his family and friends. Dominick was also an exceptional wrestler and cross country runner for Wabash High School.

Dominick is survived by his father, Richard (Nichole) Hubbard, Jr., of Wabash; daughter, Zariah Hubbard, of Wabash; girlfriend, Alexis Ballard, of Wabash; paternal grandparents, Richard (Kathy) Hubbard, Sr., of Wabash and Alicia Zapata, of Dilly, Texas; maternal grandfather, Mike Flynn, of Wabash; maternal grandmother, Shawna Campbell, of Wabash; paternal great-grandparents, Juan (Alicia) Zapata, of Wabash and Maria (Chayo) Rodriguez, of Dilly, Texas; brothers and sisters, Richard Hubbard, III, Destiny Hubbard, Courtney Webb, Treyton Thrush, Nevaeh Mettler, Isaeh Mettler,  Bryley Jackson, Serenity Hubbard, Angel Hubbard, K'leigh Hubbard and Gabriel Hubbard.  He is preceded in death by his sister Delilah Hubbard. 

Funeral services will at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 26, 2020 at McDonald Funeral Home, 231 Falls Avenue, Wabash, Indiana 46992 with Pastor Danny Honeycutt officiating. Burial will follow at Memorial Lawns Cemetery in Wabash.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the funeral service starting at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home.

Dianna K. Spencer

Dianna K. Spencer, 74, a lifetime resident of Wabash, passed away at 7:38 a.m. on Thursday, August 20, 2020 at Autumn Ridge Health and Rehabilitation in Wabash.  She was born on February 18, 1946, in Wabash, to the late Robert L. and Alice (Miller) Campbell.

Dianna worked at HIZ in Wabash and as a homemaker.  She attended Calvary Chapel Church in Wabash and volunteered at Americare.

Dianna is survived by seven daughters, Alice Spencer, of Prestonsburg, Kentucky, Kimberly Butcher, of Indianapolis, Tina Easterday, of Wabash, Barbara Heeter, of Peru, Teresa Morris, of Sandy Beach, Indiana, Jennifer Dillingham, of Wabash and Amanda Poor, of Fort Wayne; one sister, Barb Gilbert, of Wabash; Eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.  Dianna was preceded in death by one sister, Carolyn Hale.

Funeral services will at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, August 24, 2020 at McDonald Funeral Home, 231 Falls Avenue, Wabash, Indiana 46992.  Burial will follow at Friends Cemetery in Wabash.

Visitation for friends and family will be from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 23, 2020 at the funeral home.

Billie Ray Bowling

Billie Ray Bowling, 87, of Wabash, passed away at 9:35 p.m. on Sunday, August 16, 2020 at Miller's Merry Manor - East, in Wabash.  He was born in Hyden, Kentucky, on September 22, 1932, to the late Lawton and Ida (Gibson) Bowling. 

Billie served five years in the United States Marine Corp and was a retired iron worker.

Billie is survived by two sisters, Irene Burge, of Lynn, Indiana, and Ann Wathen, of Lebanon, Kentucky.  He is preceded in death by his wife, Linda Lou Bowling, who passed away on November 19, 2009; five brothers and three sisters.

Per Billie's request, there will be no service.

Robert E. Haneline

 Robert E. Haneline, 78, of Wabash, passed away at 7:25 p.m. on Tuesday, August 18, 2020, at his residence.  He was born in Huntington, Indiana, on August 27, 1941, to the late Leo P. and Daisy M. (Harrell) Haneline.  

Robert married Donna J. Hunt on May 11, 1963; she passed away on October 27, 2019.  Robert retired as a salesman for Monarch Food Services.

Robert and Donna loved visits from their friend, Melissa Rigle, who they fondly referred to as their daughter.

Robert is survived by one son, Thomas (Pamela) Haneline, of Wabash; two grandchildren, Keaton Wilkerson and Ayden Haneline, both of Wabash; three brothers, Leo Haneline, Jr., of Indianapolis, Ronald Haneline, of Huntington and Alan (Janet) Haneline, of Columbia City.  He is preceded in death by one son, Richard Lee Haneline. 

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 22, 2020 at McDonald Funeral Home, 231 Falls Avenue, Wabash, Indiana 46992 with Ralph Johnson, Jr. officiating.  Burial will follow at Friends Cemetery in Wabash.

Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, August 21, 2020 at the funeral home.

Frank L. Vest

 Frank L. Vest, 80, of LaFontaine, passed away at 10:30 p.m. on Monday, August 10, 2020 at Marion General Hospital in Marion, Indiana.  He was born on June 29, 1940 in Terre Haute, to the late Emory and Eugenia (Beem) Vest.  

Frank was a graduate of Glen High School in Terre Haute.  He married Donna Vest who passed away on June 20, 1986.  Frank worked as a Journeyman for Midland Glass in Terre Haute and Ball Foster Glass Company in Marion, Indiana.  

Frank is survived by companion of 33 years, Joan Bradley, of LaFontaine; one brother, Mike Vest, of Terre Haute; and two sisters, Betty Joe Poe and Judy Ennen, both of Terre Haute.  He is preceded in by two sons, Gary Vest and Kevin Vest and one brother, David Vest. 

Per Frank's request, there will be no services.  

Burial will be at a later date at Roselawn Memorial Cemetery in Terre Haute, Indiana.

Mary L. Stair

 Mary Stair, 89, formerly of LaFontaine, Indiana, passed peacefully from this life on August 8, 2020 at Ossian Health & Rehab in Ossian, Indiana, after a long battle with Alzheimer’s.

Mary was born to Guy and Olive (Sites) McCray on December 8, 1930 in Cissna Park, Illinois. She was a 1948 graduate of LaFontaine High School where she played trombone, and graduated from beauty college. She married Darrell Stair on June 29, 1952 in LaFontaine. He passed away March 9, 1989. Mary was a homemaker, living for 53 years in the house that Darrell and many family members built. The onset of Alzheimer’s forced her to move to Kingston Residence, Fort Wayne, in 2013 and then Ossian Health & Rehab in 2016. She was a member of the LaFontaine United Methodist Church and delivered Meals on Wheels for several years.

Mary was known for her cooking, particularly her applesauce and Cherry Delight, as well as lots of cookies. She baked and decorated birthday cakes for her children, grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. She took care of her husband for the last three years of his life while he was bedfast at home. While she was still able to drive, Mary could usually be found at Wabash Donuts or Circle K in LaFontaine, eating apple fritters, caramel donuts and drinking her English Toffee Cappuccino. She enjoyed outings with her 48 graduate friends. Mary took many bus trips around the US and Canada, as well as cruises, including the Panama Canal. She took great pride in her long-painted fingernails, especially while living at Kingston.

Mary leaves behind a daughter, Cheryl (Phil) Gillespie, of Fort Wayne, and a son, Steve (Jeannie) Stair, of LaFontaine; four grandchildren, Rachel Parteko, of Ossian, Andy Gillespie, of Fort Wayne, Brittany Stair, of LaFontaine and Colby Stair, of Fort Wayne and one great-grandson, Austin Parteko, of Ossian. She was preceded in death by her husband, Darrell; two daughters, Debra in 1954 and Linda in 1972; her parents, two sisters, Amanda Ennen and Ilene Morford, and three brothers, Joe, Guy and Walter McCray.

The family would like to thank the staff of Kingston Residence and Ossian Healthcare for the care and love they showed her, with special thanks to Rachel Selle and Jair Cabanas.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 15, 2020 at McDonald Funeral Home, LaFontaine Chapel, 104 South Main Street, LaFontaine, Indiana 46940, with calling one hour prior to the service starting at 9:00 a.m.  Pastor Susan Shambaugh will be the officiant. Burial will follow at Gardens of Memory Cemetery in Marion.

Visitation for friends and family will be from 4:00 - 7:00 pm Friday, August 14, 2020 at the funeral home.

Delilah Christine Hubbard

 Delilah Christine Hubbard, infant daughter of Richard and Nichole (Hampton) Hubbard, Jr., passed away at 4:38 a.m. on Saturday, August 8, 2020 at Parkview Wabash Hospital.

Delilah is survived by her parents, Richard and Nichole Hubbard, Jr., of Wabash; paternal grandparents, Richard and Kathy Hubbard, Sr., of Wabash; maternal grandparents, Adam and Cathi McKie, of Wabash and Alicia Zapata, of Texas; brothers and sisters, Richard Hubbard, III, Dominick Hubbard, Destiny Hubbard, Nevaeh Mettler, Isaeh Mettler, Bryley Jackson, Serenity Hubbard, Angel Hubbard, K'leigh Hubbard and Gabriel Hubbard; two nieces; one nephew; two aunts; three uncles and 14 cousins.

Funeral services will at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 13, 2020 at McDonald Funeral Home, 231 Falls Avenue, Wabash, Indiana 46992 with Pastor Danny Honeycutt officiating. Burial will follow at Falls Cemetery in Wabash.

Susan C. Siders

 Susan C. Siders, 69, of LaFontaine, passed away at 8:20 a.m. on Friday, August 7, 2020 at Parkview Randallia Hospital in Fort Wayne.  She was born on November 14, 1950 in Marion, Indiana. 

Susan was a graduate of Marion High School.  She married William C. Siders on November 21, 1969; he passed away on October 23, 2013.  Susan retired from Mutual Bank, in Marion, after 48 years of service.  She was a member of the American Legion Post 248 of Lagro and the Wabash Eagles Lodge 549.  Susan was an avid Nascar racing fan.  She especially loved her family and her LaFontaine family and friends.  

Susan is survived by her daughter, Lynn Siders, of LaFontaine; grandson, Zachary Siders Hunt, of Wabash; great-grandson, Roy Leland Siders Hunt, of LaFontaine and step-brother, John (Janet) Long, of Ohio.  She is preceded in death by one brother.

A memorial service will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 15, 2020 at McDonald Funeral Home, LaFontaine Chapel, 104 South Main Street, LaFontaine, Indiana 46940 with Keri Ann Whitmer officiating.  

Calling hours for family and friends will be from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m., on Saturday, August 15, 2020, at the funeral home.

Ilene Mae Penn


Who was Ilene Mae Penn?  Maybe you met her during her 94 years in Indiana, especially in Wabash.  Maybe it was at Miller's Merry Manor where she spent the last couple years, or back in 2000 while she recovered from surgery.  Maybe it was at Ivy Tech where she was a receptionist from about 1998 to a few years ago.  Maybe it was during the time she spent as a Business Teacher at Renseler Community Schools or Crown Point Community Schools from 1966 to 1991.  Or eating at the Winchester Senior Center or Burger King.  Maybe it was at Wabash Friends Church.

So, who was Ilene Penn? She was the daughter of John and Muriel (Bolinger) Penn.  Born on May 8, 1926, in North Manchester, Indiana.  Pastel colors, especially blue and pink, were her favorites.  She played with two brothers, Wilbur and Harold.  She was a bit of a tomboy.  She liked and was pretty good at softball and tennis.  Ilene took care of many cats and dogs.  Most of all, she was Christian.  She thought of others and was concerned for the feelings of all her family and her friends.  

Ilene was a 1945 graduate of Wabash High School.  She graduated, in 1965, from Ball State University, with a bachelor’s degree in secondary education and earned a master’s degree in business education in 1967. She left teaching to care for her mother.  

Ilene was member of the Wabash Garden Club, Latrian Club, and the Wabash Club House Association.  She attended Wabash Friends Church and joined the First Christian Church in Crown Point in 1967.  She was also a member of the Indiana State Teacher's Association, the National Business Teacher's Association and the Business and Professional Women's Association of Marion, Indiana.  

Ilene is survived by nephews and nieces, Kathy (Richard) Hubbard, Dawn (Ray) Copeland, David Penn, all of Wabash and Allen (Lora) Penn, of Bluffton, Randy (Pam) Penn, of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Karon (James) Pessig, of Pontiac, Illinois, Craig Penn, of New Castle, Jason Penn and Jimmie Penn, of Tucson, Arizona; thirteen great nephews and nieces; 22 great-great nephews and nieces and ten great-great-great nephews and nieces.  Other relatives and friends will miss her and her "How about that." 

Ilene is preceded in death by two brothers, Wilbur L. Penn and Harold E. Penn.  

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 6, 2020 at McDonald Funeral Home, 231 Falls Avenue, Wabash, Indiana 46992 with Pastor David Phillips officiating.  Burial will follow at Gardens of Memory in Marion, Indiana.

Visitation for friends and family will be two hours prior to the funeral services starting at 9:00 a.m.
