Mary Ellen Brown, 97, of Wabash, Indiana passed away at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 28, 2014 at Autumn Ridge Healthcare Center in Wabash, Indiana. She was born to the late Lee and Mable (Green) Ross on March 30, 1917 in Aurora, Indiana.
She married Dallas C. Brown on January 17, 1944, he passed away in September of 1979. She was a member of College Corner Brethren Church in Wabash, Indiana. Mary loved working in her yard and flower gardens.
She is survived by a daughter, Margaret Benson-Burnworth of Wabash, Indiana; sister, Ruby Martin of Wabash, Indiana; four grandchildren, Ken Benson (Chris) of Wabash, Indiana, Mrs. Don (Carol) Sweet of Converse, Indiana, Janie Hayslett of Wabash, Indiana, and Mrs. Paul (Mary) Cornett of Wabash, Indiana; 10 great grandchildren, Kim (Ryan) Hawkins of Fenton, Missouri, Matt (Stacie Frehse) Benson of Wabash, Indiana, Neil (Elaine) Sweet of Converse, Indiana, Jason (Alisha) Sweet of Converse, Indiana, Nikki (Matt) Bajor of Converse, Indiana, Kelli (Hayslett) Nelson of Wabash, Indiana, Adam Hayslett of Wabash, Indiana, Ben Cornett of Wabash, Indiana, Mark (Erica) Cornett of North Manchester, Indiana, and Kasey Cornett of Wabash, Indiana; 14 great-great grandchildren and 4 great-great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by husband, Dallas Brown, great-great grandson, Tanner Hayslett, and a grandson in-law, Clyde Hayslett.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. on Wednesday, July 2, 2014 at McDonald Funeral Home, 231 Falls Avenue, Wabash, Indiana 46992, with Pastor Brad Wright officiating. Burial will follow at Memorial Lawns Cemetery in Wabash, Indiana.
