It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved, BETTY ANN LEE, 74, of Wabash, Indiana, passed away peacefully on December 5, 2025.
Betty (Hughes) Lee, was born on December 20th, 1950, in Peru, IN, and is survived by her son, Christopher (Lynn) Lee; grandchildren, Andrew, Brionna, and Zakk; two great-granddaughters; three sisters, Connie McConahay, Barbara (Dave)Townsend, and Janice Hughes; one brother, Dennis Hughes; seven nieces and nephews, Matthew, Mandy, Alicia, Alaina, Brandon, Natalie, Molly, Kord; and step-daughter, Kara.
Betty graduated from Peru High School in 1970 and earned a registered Beautician of Cosmetology license from Wabash Vocational. Betty did her own bouffant hairstyle for her senior picture and was quite good at the (Betty bouffant), practicing on her sisters and neighbors.
Betty went on to seek higher-wage employment in Wabash at the GenCorp Automotive Plant, where she worked on the assembly line from 1973 to 2003 and where she also met her husband, Bob.
Betty was a very enthusiastic collector of Shirley Temple dolls and memorabilia, as well as other collectible dolls, such as Barbie, Mrs. Beasley, and china dolls. Betty enjoyed watching the I Love Lucy show, Shirley Temple movies, the Andy Griffith Show, and many old movies. In the early years of her life, you could find her at the local Bingo Hall in Peru or Wabash. Betty enjoyed country hymnals and ’50s, '60s & early ’70s music.
Betty was a member of Saint Bernard Catholic Church in Wabash and would watch Sunday Mass on TV.
Betty is preceded in death by her husband of well over fifty years, Robert Lee; her parents, Charles and June Hughes; one brother, Charlie; a sister, Norma; two brothers-in-law, Dick and Bill; a sister-in-law, Judy; her in-laws; and two nephews, Jason and Billy.
Betty will be forever loved and missed by her family, cousins, and friends! Betty’s side-table lamp light will remain on at a family member's house for generations to come as a reminder of her. She is now at peace in the arms of her Savior.
A Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 9, 2025, at McDonald Funeral Home, Wabash Chapel, 231 Falls Avenue, Wabash, Indiana 46992 with Father Jay Horning officiating. Burial will follow at Falls Cemetery in Wabash, Indiana.
Visitation for friends and family will be one hour prior to the service on Tuesday, December 9, 2025, from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home.
