Gerald E. Key, 71, a resident of Huntington County, Indiana, passed away at 10:33 a.m., Sunday, October 19, 2025, at Parkview Wabash Hospital in Wabash, Indiana. He was born on October 3, 1954, to Max I. and Vera (Odle) Key in Wabash County, Indiana. 

Gerald was a 1974 graduate of Southwood High School. After graduation, Gerald served in the United States Marine Corps. He worked at Thermafiber for 47 years before retiring. He was a member of Mt. Etna Community Life Church in Mt. Etna, Indiana. Gerald was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed going for long walks in the woods. 

Gerald is survived by three daughters, Emily (Ryan) Arceo of Dayton, Ohio, Melissa (John) Caley of Huntington, Indiana, and Jessica Key of Andrews, Indiana; five grandchildren, Jarryd Caley, Kiley Key, Maya Arceo, Jazlyn Caley, and Evan Arceo; three brothers, David (Joyce) Key of Marion, Indiana, Mark (Sherri L.) Key of Wabash, Indiana, and John Key of LaFontaine, Indiana; and one sister, Laura Brown of Huntington, Indiana. He is preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Phillip Key, and one sister, Mary Schurer.

Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 23, 2025, at McDonald Funeral Home, LaFontaine Chapel, 104 S. Main Street., LaFontaine, Indiana 46940 with Pastor Jorden Green officiating. 

Visitation for family and friends will be two hours prior to the service on Thursday, October 23, 2025, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home.
