Darlene Isaac

 

Darlene Lavon Isaac, 75, of Wabash, Indiana passed away at 8:58 p.m. Sunday, May 25, 2025, at her daughter's residence in Lagro, Indiana. She was born on January 16, 1950, to Donald R. and Betty L. (Smith) Herron in Logansport, Indiana.

Darlene was a 1968 graduate of Wabash High School. She was a homemaker and also worked at Vernon Manor in Wabash as a Dietary Aide. She was a member of Southside Freewill Baptist Church in Wabash, Indiana. Darlene was an avid sports fan, watching baseball and basketball, especially watching the Chicago Cubs. She enjoyed traveling, watching game shows, window shopping, but most of all spending time with her family.

Darlene is survived by one daughter, Sandra (William) Booth of Lagro, Indiana; one son, Tony L. Isaac of Wabash, Indiana; one grandson, Steven M. Green of Huntington, Indiana; one great-granddaughter, Lillie Ann Green of North Manchester, Indiana; three step-grandchildren; three step-great-grandchildren; three brothers, Dale R (Linda) Herron, Jerome G. Herron, William B. Herron, all of Wabash, Indiana; two sisters, Sharon K. Herron and Vicky Herron, both of Wabash, Indiana. She is preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Daniel Herron. 

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later time amongst family and friends.

Larry E. Shear

 

Larry E. Shear, 84, of Urbana, Indiana passed away at 8:45 p.m. Friday, May 23, 2025, at The Waters of Wabash East. He was born on June 11, 1940, to Charles Sr. and Helen (Campbell) Shear in Wabash County, Indiana.

Larry was a 1958 graduate of Lagro High School. He attended Purdue University, then served in the United States Army. Larry married Sharon Witcher on May 24, 1980. He worked various places throughout his life including Farm Bureau at the Spiecherville Grain Elevator in Wabash County, along with being a Dairy Farmer. He also managed a feed mill in Illinois. Larry was an avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed watching birds and being in nature. The woods was his church. He attended Lagro Fellowship Church for many years. 

Larry is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Sharon Shear of Urbana, Indiana; two daughters, Julie Cunningham of Syracuse, Indiana, Lana Fairchild of Urbana, Indiana; two sons, Kevin (Kristi) Clark of Urbana, Indiana, Keith (Debbie) Clark of Patriot, Indiana; five grandchildren, Heather Johnson, Drew Clark, Alyssa Fairchild, Maddie Clark, Paige Cunningham; two great-grandchildren, Sydney Johnson and Weston Johnson; one brother, Jerry Shear of West Lafayette, Indiana. He is preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Edward Shear and Charles "Chuck" Shear Jr., and two sisters, Norma Lovejoy and Janet Rochford. 

There will be a Celebration of Larry's Life at a later date and will be announced by the family.

The family of Larry would like anyone to wanting to honor his life, to plant a tree in his memory or feed the birds.

Douglas J. Kroft

 

Douglas J. Kroft, 66, a lifetime resident of Wabash, Indiana passed away at 6:08 p.m. Friday, May 16, 2025, at his residence surrounded by his wife and children. He was born on June 2, 1958, to Dale and Donna (Rhoades) Kroft in Wabash, Indiana.

Doug was a 1976 graduate of Southwood High School. He married Amy A. Vrooman on September 9, 1979. Doug was a self-employed contractor owning Kroft Construction in Wabash, Indiana and also, Crystal Glass and Exteriors in Wabash, Indiana. He was a member of the National Hotrod Association, he also attended Asbury Country Church in Wabash, Indiana. Doug was a devoted hard worker; he loved to teach his skills to family and friends. He enjoyed woodworking and finding reasons to tinker with his race car, he always had to be working on something. Doug also enjoyed spending time with his family, friends, his racing family, and attending his grandchildren's activities.  

Doug is survived by his devoted wife, Amy Kroft of Wabash, Indiana; two sons, Tyler (Laura) Kroft of Wabash, Indiana, Cody Kroft of Indianapolis, Indiana; one daughter, Kristin (Jon) Goodrich of Wabash, Indiana; five grandchildren, Presley Kroft, Jensen Kroft, Dallis Kroft, Denver Goodrich, Oakland Goodrich, all of Wabash, Indiana; two brothers, Dan Kroft of North Hollywood, California, Darin Kroft of King George, Virginia; one sister-in-law, Amy L. Kroft of Wabash, Indiana; mother-in-law, Carolyn Vrooman of Wabash, Indiana; cousin, Terry (Tammy) Hobbs of Wabash, Indiana. He is also survived by many special nieces and nephews that were involved throughout his life. He is preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Dennis Kroft and David Kroft. 

Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 22, 2025, at McDonald Funeral Home, Wabash Chapel, 231 Falls Avenue, Wabash, Indiana 46992, with Pastor Mike Bullick officiating.

Visitation for friends and family will be from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 21, 2025, at the funeral home.

Preferred memorials can be made to Wabash County Cancer Society or Asbury Country Church in care of McDonald Funeral Homes.

Cathryne Grice

 

Cathryne "Cathy" Grice, 76, of Anderson, Indiana passed away on Friday, May 2, 2025, at Community Hospital Anderson. She was born on October 21, 1948, to Guy N. Bashore and Edna Rita (Cornell) Kinley in Wabash, Indiana.

Cathy was a 1966 graduate of Wabash High School. She worked as a realtor for many years along with being an executive secretary. She married Rex Grice on April 10, 1994. 

Cathy is survived by her husband, Rex Grice of Anderson, Indiana; one stepson; one stepdaughter; three sisters, Fran Overman of Alexandria, Indiana, Barbara Jones of North Manchester, Indiana, Joanne (Bryant) Bennett of Peru, Indiana. She is preceded in death by her parents, one infant daughter, and one brother, Bernard J. Bashore.

Graveside Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 9, 2025, at Falls Cemetery, 725 Falls Ave. Wabash, Indiana 46992 with Pastor Brad Wright officiating.

David N. Wick Sr.

 

David N. Wick Sr., 85, of LaFontaine, Indiana passed away on Wednesday, April 30, 2025, at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis, Indiana. He was born on January 30, 1940, in Dayton, Ohio to Earl and Margaret (Ferryman) Wick.

David was a 1957 graduate of Mt. Carmel High School. He married Bonnie Watchorn on December 25, 1971. David worked for many years at General Motors in Marion, Indiana before retiring. He was a member of Christian Heritage in Wabash, Indiana. David was an avid hunter and fisherman. He and Bonnie participated in Thursday Night Bowling League in Marion for many years. 

David is survived by his wife, Bonnie Wick of LaFontaine, Indiana; one son, David N. Wick Jr. (Teresa Nikki) of Swayzee, Indiana; two daughters, Rebecca Birmingham of Woodbridge, Virginia, Rachel Nieman of Converse, Indiana; seven grandchildren; two sisters, Ruth Ann Buckland of Dayton, Ohio, Naomi Lingle of Shawnee, Kansas. He is proceded in death by his parents and one daughter, Artiss Wick. 

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 8, 2025, at McDonald Funeral Home, LaFontaine Chapel, 104 South Main Street, LaFontaine, Indiana 46940, with Pastor Tim Prater officiating. Burial will follow at Gardens of Memory Cemetery in Marion, Indiana.

Visitation for friends and family will be two hours prior to the service from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 8, 2025, at the funeral home.
