Vernon Thompson


 Vernon Thompson, 91, of Wabash, Indiana passed away at 7:34 a.m. on Friday, October 4, 2024, at Wabash Parkview Hospital in Wabash, Indiana. He was born on December 19, 1932, to Marshall and Bessie (Harter) Thompson in Wabash, Indiana.

Vernon was a 1951 graduate of Wabash High School. After high school he entered the United States Army and served from 1953 to 1955. Vernon then married his wife Louise Mullins on July 13, 1957. Vernon worked at Ford Meter Box for 31 years before retiring in 1995. He enjoyed being outdoors and was an avid fisherman and mushroom hunter. Vernon held a membership with College Corner Brethren Church in Wabash, Indiana. He was also a lifetime member of the VFW Post 286 in Wabash, Indiana. Vernon was always content with what he had. He was always willing to give a helping hand to family and friends. He will be forever remembered as a selfless, generous, witty, and humble man.

Vernon is survived by his two sons, Gregory (Traci) Thompson of Wabash, Indiana, Mark (Shannon) Thompson of Van Buren, Indiana; two daughters, Teresa (Dan) Snyder of LaFontaine, Indiana, Julie (Dewayne) Lengel of Wabash, Indiana; nine grandchildren; and twelve great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, Marshall and Bessie Thompson; his wife, Louise Thompson who passed away November 25, 2023; four brothers; and five sisters.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 9, 2024, at McDonald Funeral Home, Wabash Chapel, 231 Falls Avenue, Wabash, Indiana 46992, with Dan Snyder and Pastor Solomon David officiating. 

Visitation for friends and family will be from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 8, 2024, at the funeral home.
