Robert "Bob" Lee Kline

 
Robert “Bob” Lee Kline, 88, of Wabash, Indiana passed away at 3:40 p.m. on Tuesday, October 29, 2024, at his residence in Wabash County, Indiana. He was born on June 23, 1936, to Robert Sherman and Arlene Ruth (Needham) Kline in Wabash, Indiana.

Bob was a lifetime resident of Wabash, Indiana. He was a 1954 graduate of Chester High School. He married his wife Alice Frasure on June 6, 1956.  Bob worked many years in the construction industry as a heavy equipment operator for Gaunt and Son Construction in Wabash, Indiana. Bob also worked at General Motors as a millwright in Marion, Indiana, then later retired in 2008.

 Bob held a membership with the Fraternal Order of Police in Wabash, Indiana. In his free time, he enjoyed watching westerns and recently, he became fond of watching NASCAR as well. He also enjoyed gardening, fishing, and woodworking. He was a jack of all trades and was able to fix just about anything and everything. Most of all, Bob loved spending time with his family and attending his grandchildren’s sporting events.

Bob is survived by four sons, Gary Kline of Rochester, Indiana, Randy (Tracy) Kline of Wabash, Indiana, Todd (Marcia) Kline of Wabash, Indiana, Keith (Kelly) Kline of Columbia City, Indiana; three sisters, Sharon Thompson of Wabash, Indiana, Connie Auger of North Manchester, Indiana, Peggy Davis of North Manchester, Indiana; nine grandchildren; and fifteen great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Arlene Kline; his wife, Alice Kline who passed away on February 27, 2020; and one sister, Kristi Sparks.

A Private Family Graveside Service will be held at Falls Cemetery in Wabash, Indiana with Pastor Shawn Light officiating.

Charles Martin

 

Charles Martin, 84, of Wabash County, Indiana passed away at 8:14 a.m. on Friday, October 25, 2024, at his residence. He was born on October 2, 1940, to Clarence and Sally (Winegard) Martin in Rush County, Indiana.

Charles was a 1959 graduate of Noble High School. He married his wife Shirley Robertson on April 9, 1961. Charles dedicated 33 years of his life to working at Chrysler Transmission plant in Kokomo, Indiana before retiring in 1997. He attended First Church of God in Marion, Indiana and he also held a membership with College Corner Brethren Church in Wabash, Indiana.

Charles had a great love for music. He enjoyed playing country music on his guitar and performing in the gospel singing group, “Oldies.” In his free time, he loved boating, kayaking, and riding the Miami Campground roads with his youngest son, Monty.

Charles is survived by his loving wife, Shirley Martin of Wabash County, Indiana; one son, Monty Martin of Amboy, Indiana; one brother, Ross Martin of Wabash, Indiana; one grandchild, Brandi Martin of Wabash, Indiana; and three great-grandchildren, Riley McNeil, Abby McNeil, and Remi Rose. He is preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Sally Martin; one son, Brady Martin who passed away on September 18, 2024; and one brother, Larry Martin.

Per the family’s request, a private family celebration will be held by the family at a later date.

Donna L. Copeland

 

Donna L. Copeland, 91 of Wabash, Indiana passed away at 3:59 a.m. on Sunday, October 20, 2024, at Parkview Wabash Hospital in Wabash, Indiana. She was born on June 21, 1933, to Jesse and Lula (Whitsel) Newman in Marshall County, Indiana.

Donna worked at Magnetech in Huntington, Indiana for many years then later retired, and she was also a local waitress as well. She married Max Owen, and he passed away in 2001. She held a membership with Washington Street Wesleyan Church in Wabash, Indiana. In her free time, she enjoyed completing puzzles and going camping. 

Donna is survived by three sons, Larry (Shelley) Owen of Peru, Indiana, Jeff Owen of Wabash, Indiana, Rollie Dickerhoff of Peru, Indiana; one brother, Leroy (Ruth) Newman of Wabash, Indiana; seventeen grandchildren; forty-one great-grandchildren; and numerous great-great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, Jesse and Lula Newman; one daughter, Christina Swafford who passed away on November 18, 2023; one son, Michael Dickerhoff; five brothers; and four sisters.

Funeral Services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, October 25, 2024, at McDonald Funeral Home, Wabash Chapel, 231 Falls Avenue, Wabash, Indiana 46992, with Pastor Steve Hudson officiating. Burial will follow at Friends Cemetery in Wabash, Indiana.

Visitation for friends and family will be from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service on Friday, October 25, 2024, at the funeral home.

Mary Jo Miley

 

Mary Jo Miley, 78 of Wabash, Indiana passed away at 8:33 a.m. on Saturday, October 19, 2024, at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne, Indiana. She was born on April 8, 1946, to Gene and Deloris (Kerr) Tait in Wabash, Indiana.

Mary Jo was a lifetime resident of Wabash, Indiana. She was a 1964 graduate of Wabash High School. Mary Jo worked at Ford Meter Box for many years in Wabash, Indiana, then later retired. She dedicated her time in assisting with the Relay for Life program. In her free time, she enjoyed crafting and painting. Mary Jo loved attending car shows and demolition derby's, but family was the most important to her.

Mary Jo is survived by one son, Tony (Angie) Bowman of Wabash, Indiana; two daughters, Melinda (Tony) Adams, Deanna Bowman both of Wabash, Indiana; one brother Ed (Edna) Tait of Wabash, Indiana; six grandchildren, Miranda (Robbie Townsend) Adams, Levi (Tori) Bowman, William Adams, Christopher (Drue) Adams, Olivia (Jake) Moore, and June Adams; seven great-grandchildren; and one special friend, Dave Trisler. She is preceded in death by her parents, Gene and Deloris Tait.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 24, 2024, at McDonald Funeral Home, Wabash Chapel, 231 Falls Avenue, Wabash, Indiana 46992, with Pastor David Phillips officiating. Burial will follow at Friends Cemetery in Wabash, Indiana.

Karen Lynn Moore


Karen Lynn Moore, 61, of Roann, Indiana, passed away at 5:30 p.m. on Sunday, October 13, 2024, at her residence in Roann, Indiana. She was born on March 16, 1963, to George Andrew Blair and Bonnie Helen Brown in Sonoma, California where she resided for 24 years.

Karen married her husband Bill Howard Moore on March 21, 1987. Karen was a homemaker, but she dedicated a lot of time working at the animal shelter. She had a great love for all animals. Karen enjoyed riding motorcycles, being with her grandchildren, and spending time with family. Friends always became family to Karen. She is also the founder and a lifelong member of HOG (Harley Owner’s Group) Wabash Chapter.

Karen is survived by one son, Roger Lee Moore of Huntington, Indiana; one daughter, Calian Marie (Tyson) Wuensch; one brother, George Allen Blair of Kokomo, Indiana; one brother-in-law, Greg Kniss of Peru, Indiana; two grandchildren, Wren Michael Wuensch, Briar Lee Wuensch; one nephew and live in caretaker, Troy Blair; and several other nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, George Blair and Bonnie Brown; her husband, Bill Moore who passed away on July 25, 2022; one brother, Steve Blair; and one sister, Colleen Dawn Kniss.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 25, 2024, at McDonald Funeral Home, 231 Falls Avenue, Wabash, Indiana 46992 with Pastor Brad Wright officiating. Burial will follow at Memorial Lawns Cemetery in Wabash, Indiana.

Visitation for family and friends will be from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 25, 2024, at the funeral home.

Peyton Michael Ray Rogers

 

Peyton "Puff" Michael Ray Rogers, 15, of Lagro, Indiana passed away on Friday, October 11, 2024. He was born on June 29, 2009, to Stephanie (Zech) Rogers in Marion, Indiana.

Peyton attended Northfield High School and was an excellent student. He was a loved son, brother, cousin, grandson, nephew, and friend to anyone who knew him. Peyton knew how to make you smile and laugh anytime you saw him. His whole world revolved around his mom, sisters, Jayda and Quinn, Mimi, Aunt Deedee, Uncle Josh, Mae Mae, Keeghan, Reighly, and his best friends, Corbin, Luke, Jed, Colton, and many others.

Peyton was extremely smart, driven, hardworking, and had so many plans for his future. He enjoyed helping his uncle and cousin work construction. He will forever be remembered as funny, outgoing, brave, responsible. He had a contagious smile that brought so much joy to everyone around him. Peyton was taken from his family and friends’ way too soon and he will be truly missed for all of eternity.

Peyton is survived by his mother, Stephanie Rogers of Lagro, Indiana; two sisters, Jayda Rogers, Quinn Rogers; maternal grandmother, Cynthia Fowler of Marion, Indiana; one aunt, Delaney (Joshua Alexander) Zech of Marion, Indiana; three cousins, Candyce Cook “Mae Mae”, Keeghan Cook, Reighly Hurd all of Marion, Indiana; and best friends, Corbin, Luke, Jed, and Colton.

You are my sunshine, my only sunshine, you make me happy when skies are grey, you’ll never know Peyton how much I love you. Please don’t take my sunshine away. - Mom

Mark Lester Brothers

 

Mark Lester Brothers, 69, a lifetime resident of Wabash, Indiana passed away at 4:42 p.m. on Wednesday, October 9, 2024, at Parkview Randallia Hospital in Fort Wayne, Indiana. He was born on May 19, 1955, to Roy Lester and Carol Sue (Bowman) Brothers in Wabash, Indiana.

Mark was a 1974 graduate of Wabash High School. He married Martha L. Sorenson on January 28, 1979. Mark worked at Ford Meter Box in Wabash, Indiana for 25 years, then was self-employed traveling around the country Expediting. He loved riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle and he took up guitar lessons and enjoyed playing guitar. Mark had a routine of feeding the wild animals in his backyard. He also enjoyed going to antique shops, listening to Classic Rock and Roll music, was an avid history buff; especially World War II. Mark was a great friend to many, but most of all he loved his wife, son, and grandson. 

Mark is survived by his wife, Martha Brothers of Wabash, Indiana; one son, Joseph Brothers of Lagro, Indiana; one grandson, Dylan Brothers of Fort Wayne, Indiana; and one brother. He is preceded in death by his parents, one son, Gary Allen Brothers, who passed away on February 10, 2015.

Private Family Christian Burial will take place on Saturday, October 12, 2024, at Memorial Lawns Cemetery in Wabash, Indiana with Pastor Kirk Johnson officiating. 

Mark's wish is for everyone to Go Vote.

James A. Harding


 James A. Harding “Cowboy”, 62, of Wabash, Indiana passed away at 8:49 p.m. on Tuesday, October 8, 2024, at his daughter’s residence in Wabash, Indiana. He was born on March 31, 1962, to Gerald D. Harding and Marilyn (King) Fischer in Wabash, Indiana.

James was a Union Iron worker in the Local 808 in Orlando, Florida throughout his lifetime. In his youthful years, he operated on oil rigs in Gillette, Wyoming and did mining jobs in Nevada. James was an avid Harley rider. He loved his family and his beloved dog Boo Boo more than anything.

James is survived by his one daughter, Tosha (Matthew) Swanson of Wabash, Indiana; two brothers, Jeff (Kathy) Harding, Dennis Harding both of Wabash, Indiana; four sisters, Jennifer (Dave) Williams, Rhonda Nelson, Cindy (Michael) Conliff, Laura (Phil) Martin all of Wabash, Indiana; and three grandchildren, Hayden Martin, Zayne Swanson, and Paisly Swanson. He is preceded in death by his parents Gerald Harding and Marilyn Fischer.

Visitation for family and friends will be from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Friday, October 11, 2024, at McDonald Funeral Home, Wabash Chapel, 231 Falls Avenue, Wabash, Indiana 46992. The final resting place for James will be in Deadwood, South Dakota.

Merrill Hobbs


 Merrill Guy Hobbs, 94, of Wabash, Indiana passed away at 3:59 p.m. on Saturday, October 5, 2024, at his home in Wabash, Indiana. He was born on October 17, 1929, to Oral and Cesta (Dailey) Hobbs in Madison County, Indiana.

Merrill was a 1947 graduate of Chester High School. He married his wife Joann Kroft on July 1, 1950. He worked as a plant manager at General Tire for 34 years before retiring in 1984. Merrill held memberships with Wabash Christian Church in Wabash, Indiana, the Elks Lodge in Wabash, Indiana, and the United States Trotting Association. Merrill had a passion for horses. He trained and raced horses in Chicago, Illinois, Louisville, Kentucky, and Ohio for over 40 years. Merrill and Joann owned and bred their racehorse, My Chief, who was also the 2004 Pacer of year.

Merrill is survived by his one son, Terry (Tammy) Hobbs of Wabash, Indiana; three grandchildren, Amy (Brian) Howenstine of Lagro, Indiana, Mark (Julie) Hobbs of Lagro, Indiana, Rachal (Marcus) Olson of Wabash, Indiana; seven great-grandchildren, Elizabeth Howenstine, Emily Howenstine, Reid (Lyndsie) Hobbs, Lilly Hobbs, Jaxson Olson, Charlee Olson, and Axle Olson. He is preceded in death by his parents, Oral and Cesta Hobbs; his wife, Joann Hobbs who passed away on August 29, 2024; two brothers, Dick and Rex Hobbs; and four sisters, Margaret Buroker, Mildred Welzien, Wilma Holmes, and Janice Spence.

Graveside Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 10, 2024, at Falls Cemetery in Wabash, Indiana.

Vernon Thompson


 Vernon Thompson, 91, of Wabash, Indiana passed away at 7:34 a.m. on Friday, October 4, 2024, at Wabash Parkview Hospital in Wabash, Indiana. He was born on December 19, 1932, to Marshall and Bessie (Harter) Thompson in Wabash, Indiana.

Vernon was a 1951 graduate of Wabash High School. After high school he entered the United States Army and served from 1953 to 1955. Vernon then married his wife Louise Mullins on July 13, 1957. Vernon worked at Ford Meter Box for 31 years before retiring in 1995. He enjoyed being outdoors and was an avid fisherman and mushroom hunter. Vernon held a membership with College Corner Brethren Church in Wabash, Indiana. He was also a lifetime member of the VFW Post 286 in Wabash, Indiana. Vernon was always content with what he had. He was always willing to give a helping hand to family and friends. He will be forever remembered as a selfless, generous, witty, and humble man.

Vernon is survived by his two sons, Gregory (Traci) Thompson of Wabash, Indiana, Mark (Shannon) Thompson of Van Buren, Indiana; two daughters, Teresa (Dan) Snyder of LaFontaine, Indiana, Julie (Dewayne) Lengel of Wabash, Indiana; nine grandchildren; and twelve great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, Marshall and Bessie Thompson; his wife, Louise Thompson who passed away November 25, 2023; four brothers; and five sisters.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 9, 2024, at McDonald Funeral Home, Wabash Chapel, 231 Falls Avenue, Wabash, Indiana 46992, with Dan Snyder and Pastor Solomon David officiating. 

Visitation for friends and family will be from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 8, 2024, at the funeral home.
