Tracey Lynn (Pitcher) Heagy, 66, of Wabash, Indiana, passed away while surrounded by family at 2:20 p.m. Friday, July 3, 2026. She had been under hospice care for cancer related illnesses at Water’s East of Wabash for a little over a week.

Tracey was born on August 29, 1959, in Muncie, Indiana and was adopted several months after birth by David K. and Marcia H. (Draudt) Pitcher of Marion, Indiana. She attended the Marion school system as well as that in Rensselaer, Indiana. She married Daryl W. Heagy on August 05, 2005, at the home of his parents in Wabash. The couple has resided in Wabash ever since.

To say "Tracey is Tracey" is to say that you knew her and that meant you recognized her free spirit and determined will to see and have things as she wished them! This was a streak that she carried since childhood. It was a wave that she rode throughout her life and found satisfaction in. And if one would challenge her on something, well she'd most likely just meet it with a grin along with a slight glint in her eye. It was just her way. It was Tracey being Tracey.

She had a passion for the local reservoirs, be it time on the waters or drives through their meandering roadways. She was known on occasion to even take a tent off into their woodland and spend the night there alone. Just her way to resonate with the outdoors.

She had a string of Chihuahuas, up to five at a time, and they were the definition of four-footed children to her. She had an affinity of playing pool and earned her share of plaques and trophies from tournament play. She was game for a motorcycle ride just as much as she was to simply sit out on her front porch and watch the world go by.

In addition to the passing of her parents, Tracey's husband Daryl Heagy preceded her in death just 15 days prior to her own. She is survived by one son, Paul W. Benedict, Jr. of Ohio, a twin sister Kimberly Thompson (Pam) of Ohio, brother Donald Pitcher of West Lafayette, Indiana, and granddaughters Pacy and Heley Benedict. As an adult, Tracey did research and discovered the identity of her actual birth parents; she went on to become acquainted with a number of extended family members along both of their lines.

Tracey and Daryl also left behind their 3 little dogs, Nellie, Bruno and Gabby. They are currently in a foster home with Pam Brandle and need veterinary care before being able to be put up for adoption. Preferred memorials would be greatly appreciated to Cornerstone Veterinary Service, 12 State Road 13, Urbana, IN 46990, 1-260-774-3320. Please specify any funds are for the Heagy pups.

Plans for a possible memorial celebration of Tracey's life are still being worked out at this time.
