Charles R. "Chuck" Foster

 

Charles R. "Chuck" Foster, 68, of Wabash, Indiana passed away at 4:00 a.m. on Monday, September 8, 2025, at Kindred Hospital in Indianapolis, Indiana. He was born to Ray Hamilton and Alta Jean (Murray) Foster on October 12, 1956, in Oak Ridge, Tennessee.

Chuck was a 1974 graduate of Wabash High School. He married Terry Helm on November 18, 1978. Chuck worked as a supervisor and in sales at Wabash Alloys for 27 years. He enjoyed playing baseball, softball, and golf over the years. Chuck was a dog lover, especially Golden Retrievers. He was a member of American Legion Post 15 and was the President of the Wabash Eagles Lodge.  

Chuck is survived by his wife, Terry Foster of Wabash, Indiana; two daughters, Sara (Ryan) McCoart of Wabash, Indiana, Samantha (Austin) Hamm of Clayton, Indiana; five grandchildren, Alison McCoart, Emily McCoart, Lillian Hamm, Lainey Hamm, Laura Jean Hamm; three sisters, Sandra Melzoni of Wabash, Indiana, Patsy (David) Stair of Knoxville, Tennessee, Angie Foster (Renee Mackin) of Nashville, Tennessee. He is preceded in death by his parents. 

A Celebration of Chuck's Life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 27, 2025, at McDonald Funeral Home, 231 Falls Avenue, Wabash, Indiana 46992.

Visitation for family and friends will be two hours prior to the service on Saturday, September 27, 2025, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home.

Lois Murphy


 Lois A. Murphy, 86, a lifetime resident of Wabash, Indiana, passed away at 4:40 p.m., Friday, September 5, 2025, at Peabody Retirment Community in North Manchester, Indiana. She was born on December 17, 1938, to Claude and Mary (Frantz) Keaffaber in Wabash, Indiana. 

Lois was a 1957 graduate of Wabash High School. She worked various places around Wabash including General Tire, Peabody Manufacturing, United Tech, and also baked cakes for many years. Lois was a member of Home Eck Busy Bee, Pricilla Class at Bachelor Creek, Artese Craft Club, and Wabash County 4-H. She held a membership at Church of Christ at Wabash. Lois was an animal lover. She loved her dog, Ginger. 

Lois is survived by one daughter, Renee (Richard) Day of Denver, Indiana; one son, Bret Murphy of North Branch, Michigan; four grandchildren, Brandon Wideman, Brooke (Jeremy Crow) Guyer, Chandler (Lacey) Murphy, MaKayla (Jayson Hopkins) Murphy; three step grandchildren, Alan Day, Aaron (Shelly) Day, Adam (Joy) Day; 13 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by two sons, Donald Crumrine and Greg Murphy.

Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 10, 2025, at Church of Christ at Wabash, 1904 N. Wabash Street, Wabash, Indiana 46992. Burial will follow at Memorial Lawns Cemetery in Wabash, Indiana.  

Visitation for family and friends will be two hours prior to the service on Wednesday, September 10, 2025, from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the church.

Paula Ann "Emily" Scaggs

 

Paula Ann "Emily" Scaggs, 53, of Wabash, Indiana, passed away at 2:52 p.m., Thursday, September 4, 2025, at Parkview Whitley in Columbia City, Indiana. She was born on December 12, 1971. 

Emily was raised by Nevin F. and Sandra Kaye "Sandy" (Jefferson) Hettmansperger from the age of 10 years old. She enjoyed getting dressed up and wearing jewelry. Emily loved listening to various types of music and playing with her dolls. Emily was a member of Bachelor Creek Church of Christ in Wabash, Indiana. 

She is survived by two sisters, Kim (David) Pegg and Jeanettah Lyons, both of Wabash, Indiana; nieces and nephew, Abbie (Zach) Wright of Peru, Indiana, Jacob (Kristen) Pegg of Lagro, Indiana, Charyn Hettmansperger of Roann, Indiana; great-nieces and nephews, Hudson and Hartlee Wright of Peru, Indiana and Carter, Reese, and Waylon Pegg of Lagro, Indiana. She is preceded in death by Nevin and Sandra Hettmansperger and one brother, Michael Hettmansperger, who passed July 7, 2024. 

Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 17, 2025, at McDonald Funeral Home, 231 Falls Avenue, Wabash, Indiana 46992 with Pastor Brad Wright officiating. Burial will follow at Falls Cemetery in Wabash, Indiana.  

Visitation for family and friends will be one hour prior to the service on Wednesday, September 17, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home.

Benny Lucas

 

Benny Lucas, 82, of Wabash, Indiana passed away at 1:13 a.m. on Monday, August 18, 2025, at Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne, Indiana. He was born to Robert and Nellie (Howington) Lucas on December 9, 1942, in Dungannon, Virginia.

Benny worked construction for many years and also worked for Gaunt and Son in Wabash, Indiana. He married Loretta Stanley on February 23, 1963. She passed away on March 1, 2009. 

Benny is survived by one son, Ernie (Renae) Lucas of Wabash, Indiana; four daughters, Belinda Fields, Joan Lucas, June Thornsberry, and Susan Weaver, all of Wabash, Indiana; thirteen grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Fred Lucas and Billy Joe Lucas, and two sisters, Opal Campbell and Alice Conley. 

Visitation for family and friends will be on Thursday, August 28, 2025, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at McDonald Funeral Home, 231 Falls Avenue, Wabash, Indiana 46992. 

Private family graveside service will take place at Friends Cemetery in Wabash, Indiana.

Richard "Dick" Banker

 

Richard "Dick" E. Banker, 85, of Somerset, Indiana passed away at 7:20 p.m. on Friday, August 22, 2025 at his residence. He was born to Gilbert and Mary (Gladstone) Banker on November 27, 1939, in Tuxedo Park, New York.

Dick was a 1957 graduate of Greenport High School. He then continued his education and graduated from Albany College of Pharmacy. He married Jane Arther on June 9, 1962. She survives. Dick worked as a Pharmacist in Wabash for Hooks Pharmacy, OmniCare in Fort Wayne, Indiana, and also at the Wabash County Hospital before retiring. He was a life member of Wabash Elks Lodge No. 471. He was also a member of the American Legion Post 15, Hanna Lodge #61, and Naples, Florida Moose Lodge. Dick enjoyed being outdoors and was an avid boater and water skier. He enjoyed golfing and Happy Hour. He and his wife, Jane wintered in Florida for many years. Dick was a member of Saint Bernard Catholic Church in Wabash, Indiana.  

Dick is survived by his loving wife, Jane Banker of Somerset, Indiana; three daughters, Sherri (Robert) Hancock of Bluffton, South Carolina, Lori (Kyle) Brodie of Waterville, Ohio, Vicki Banker of South Bend, Indiana; five grandchildren, Alex Hancock (Josh Carpenter), Zack (Anna) Hancock, Nick (Rena) Brodie, Abby Brodie, Joe Brodie; one great-grandchild, Rory Hancock. He is preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, and one sister. 

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 27, 2025, at Saint Bernard Catholic Church, 207 Cass Street, Wabash, Indiana 46992 with Father Jay Horning officiating. 

Visitation for family and friends will be on Tuesday, August 26, 2025, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at McDonald Funeral Home, 231 Falls Avenue, Wabash, Indiana 46992 with a Rosary Service beginning at 6:00 p.m.

Janet Parke

 

Janet Sue Parke, 73, of Wabash, Indiana passed away at 1:02 p.m. on, Tuesday, August 12, 2025, at Wabash Parkview Hospital. She was born to William Aust and Bonnie (Miller) Tucker on May 11, 1952, in Riverside, California. 

Janet was a graduate of Wabash High School. She worked for United Technologies in North Manchester and CMI in Wabash before retiring. Janet loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. 

Janet is survived by one son, Steven "Smitty" Smith of Wabash, Indiana; one daughter, Lori Kassman of Kelley, Iowa; four grandchildren, Nathan Smith, Tanisha Williams, Diana Stewart, and Timothy Bryan; six great-grandchildren; one brother, Jim Aust of Fishers, Indiana; one sister, Candi Cummings of North Manchester, Indiana. She is preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Michael Aust, and one sister, Cindy Maggart. 

Per Janet's wishes there will be a Celebration of Life Service at a later date to be announced.

Michael "Mooney" L. Mullins

 

Michael "Mooney" L. Mullins, 74, of North Manchester, Indiana passed away at 6:51 a.m. on Tuesday, August 12, 2025 at Parkview Randillia Hospital in Fort Wayne, Indiana. He was born to Raymond and Marie Mullins on February 4, 1951 in Wabash, Indiana.

Michael was a 1970 graduate of Wabash High School. He married Bonnie Hartley on August 12, 1994. He worked at Wabash Valley Manufacturing in Silver Lake, Indiana before retiring. He enjoyed mowing grass. Michael loved riding motorcycles. Most of all he loved his dog Maggie Mae. 

He is survived by his wife, Bonnie Mullins of North Manchester, Indiana; two step sons, Carlos Spriggs of Bryan, Ohio, Andy Spriggs of South Whitley, Indiana; two step daughters, Lea Hileman of North Manchester, Indiana, Cindy Tolson of Cromwell, Indiana; five grandchildren, Alicia, Abby, Andrew, Alex, Desi; great-grandchildren, Karson, Payslee, Emree, Charlie, Azariah, Ahava, Rosie, Johnnie Elizabeth; one sister, Wanda Kirby of Columbia City, Indiana; and his beloved dog, Maggie Mae. He is preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Junior, two sisters, Louise and Lucille, and grandchildren, Caleb and Wilma Corrine.

Funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, August 16, 2025, at McDonald Funeral Home, 231 Falls Avenue, Wabash, Indiana 46992 with Dan Snyder officiating. 

Visitation for family and friends will be on Friday, August 15, 2025, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
