Jack Miracle

Jack Miracle, 78, of Wabash, surrounded by his loving family entered into Heaven at 12:01 p.m. on Saturday, July 18, 2020.  He was born in Harlan, Kentucky, on January 9, 1942, to the late Brown and Cleo (Boriff) Miracle.  
Jack married Marjorie Joann King on October 31, 1984; she passed away on August 17, 2013.  He retired from the Container Corporation of Wabash. Jack was a former member of the Moose Lodge #1195, Wabash.
Jack is survived by son, Timothy A. (Jennifer) Miracle, of Wabash; daughters, Ramona Miracle-Deschryuer, of Pompano Beach, Florida and Tawna Smith, of Wabash; brother, Jim Miracle, of Kokomo; sisters, Sue Eltzroth and Marjorie Miracle, both of Wabash; nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, July 24, 2020 at McDonald Funeral Home, 231 Falls Avenue, Wabash, Indiana 46992, with Pastor Tim Morrisett officiating.  Burial will follow at Friends Cemetery in Wabash.  
Friends and family may call one hour prior to the funeral service, at the funeral home, starting at 1:00 p.m.

Donald Lee Courtney

Donald Lee Courtney, 75, of Harford City, Indiana, passed away on Friday, July 17, 2020 at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital in Muncie.  Donald was born on September 8, 1944, in Wabash, Indiana, to the late Rudolph and Emma (Mettler) Courtney.
Donald married Margaret Wilson on August 14, 1995; she passed away on February 3, 2020.  He worked for the Container Corporation of Wabash for over thirty years.
Donald loved woodworking and he made several items for family and friends.  He loved being with family and friends, but most important to him was his love of the Lord.
Donald is survived by one son, Anthony (Stacie) Courtney, of Marion; eight grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; one brother, Robert (Alecia) Courtney, of Wabash and one sister, Donna (Danny) Steele, of Wabash; brother-in-law, Ora E. Wilson, of Hartford City and his beloved dog, Reece.  He was preceded in death by one brother and one sister.  
Funeral services are at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, July 27, 2020 at McDonald Funeral Home, 231 Falls Avenue, Wabash, Indiana 46992 with Pastor Troy Kaufman officiating. 
Visitation will be one hour prior to the funeral service starting at 1:00 p.m.

Austin J. O'Dell

Austin J. O'Dell, 26, of Wabash, passed away of natural causes, at 11:30 p.m. on Tuesday, July 14, 2020, at his employer, Real Alloys of Wabash.  He was born in Peru, Indiana, to Troy O'Dell and Kimberly Shaneyfelt on July 6, 1994.

Austin was a 2013 graduate of Emmanuel Christian School.  He worked at Real Alloys of Wabash and was a member of the local union.  Austin was a big gamer and he enjoyed computers and working on cars.

Austin is survived by his father; Troy (Janie) O'Dell, of Roann; his mother, Kimberly (Brian) Shaneyfelt, of Wabash; paternal grandparents, Charles and Karalee O'Dell, of Wabash; step-grandparents, Gary and Becky Krotke, of Laketon, four brothers, Joshua Slone, of Laketon, Zachary (Rachel) Slone, of Hartford City, Travis Shaneyfelt, of Berne and Justin Shaneyfelt, of Dunkirk; one sister, Sheena Knotts, of Indianapolis; and niece, June Brooks, of Indianapolis.  He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Bill and Pat Carroll. 

Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, July 20, 2020 at McDonald Funeral Home, 231 Falls Avenue, Wabash, Indiana 46992.  Burial will follow at Falls Cemetery in Wabash. 

Calling hours for family and friends will be from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 19, 2020 at the funeral home.  The family requests that you come dressed casual and as you like.

Michael E. Davenport

Michael E. Davenport, 78, of Wabash, passed away at 11:26 p.m. on Friday, July 3, 2020, at Ashton Creek Healthcare Center in Fort Wayne, Indiana.  He was born in Huntington, Indiana on December 22, 1941, to the late Robert and Mary (Polk) Davenport. 
Mike graduated from Noble High School and served in the United States Army.  He married Rebecca K. Harrison on January 13, 1967; she passed away on April 25, 2015.  Mike worked as a self-employed contractor. He was a 53-year member of the American Legion Post 15 of Wabash.
Mike was survived by one son, Keith (Marla) Davenport, of Wabash; one daughter, Shelly (Chris) Neal, of Pinckney, Michigan; one brother, David (Melanie) Davenport, of Fort Wayne; three grandchildren, Michael Neal, of Southfield Michigan, Steven Neal, of Lansing, Michigan and Ryan Davenport, of Wabash; two great-grandchildren, Braelyn and Bristyl Davenport.  He was preceded in death by one sister, Karen Lawson.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 9, 2020 at McDonald Funeral Home, 231 Falls Avenue, Wabash, Indiana 46992, with Pastor David Phillips officiating.
Calling hours will be from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 8, 2020 at the funeral home.

Jeanne W. Mills

Jeanne W. Mills, 99, of LaFontaine, passed away at 8:10 p.m. on Wednesday, June 24, 2020 at Wellbrooke of Wabash.  She was born on February 28, 1921, in Cass County, Indiana, to the late George F. and Myrtle Ann (Callender) Hopkins.

Jeanne was a 1939 graduate of Twelve Mile High School.  She married Robert W. Mills on June 29, 1941; he passed away on May 12, 2010.  Jeanne was the Librarian at White's Institute from 1967 to 1985.  She was a member of LaFontaine Christian Church. 

Jeanne is survived by a son, Robert Steven (Joann) Mills  of St. Louis, Missouri; two daughters, Cathy Jo Preston of Wabash and Julie (Rick) Bruggeman of Warsaw; six grandchildren, Robb (Carmen) Mills, Ame (Jim) Dittman, William Matthew (Laura) Preston, David (Katie) Preston, Amanda Bruggeman and Daniel Bruggeman; eleven great-grandchildren.  She is preceded in death by four brothers and five sisters. 

Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 30, 2020 at LaFontaine Christian Church, 202 Bruner Pike, LaFontaine, Indiana 46940, with Pastor Brad Wright officiating.  Burial will follow at LaFontaine IOOF Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. on Monday, June 29, 2020 at McDonald Funeral Home, LaFontaine Chapel, 104 South Main Street, LaFontaine, Indiana.

George Rapp, Jr.

George Rapp, Jr., 91, of LaFontaine, passed away on Sunday, June 21, 2020 at Rolling Meadow Health and Rehabilitation in LaFontaine.  He was born on October 4, 1928, in Lincolnville, to the late George and Agnes F. (Mattox) Rapp, Sr.
George married Juanita C. Collins on August 11, 1950; she survives.  He served in the Army Corps of Engineers during the Korean Conflict from 1950 to 1952.  George was retired from Markon and Honeywell.  He was a member of the Lincolnville United Methodist Church, Wabash County Management Club, Kiwanis of Wabash, United Methodist Men, and the Grant County Historical Society.  
George is survived by one daughter, R. Marlene Minor, of Lisle, Illinois, and one son, John D. Rapp (Ann Herda-Rapp), of Wausau, Wisconsin, and one grandchild, Jacob Rapp, Wausau, Wisconsin. Two brothers, Paul W. Rapp, of LaFontaine and Charles R. Rapp, of Wabash, and one sister, Ruth Summers, of North Manchester. George was preceded in death by daughter, Carol L. Rapp, as well as one sister, Joyce Cullar of Uniondale.
A private family service will be held at LaFontaine IOOF Cemetery.
At a future date, a memorial service will be held at Lincolnville UMC in the garden that George and Juanita worked on in their younger days. 
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to McDonald Funeral Homes, LaFontaine Chapel, 104 South Main Street, LaFontaine, Indiana 46940.

Ben B. Smith

Ben B. Smith, 94, of Lagro, passed away at 9:45 p.m. on Saturday, May 23, 2020 at Wellbrooke of Wabash.  He was born on January 9, 1926, in Lunenburg, Arkansas, to the late Willie and Lillie F. (Shannon) Smith.  Ben married Shirley A. Fendrick on November 10, 1951; she passed away on August 29, 2011. 

Ben served in the United States Army during World War 2 and fought in the Battle of the Bulge.  He retired, in 1988, from the railroad as a freight agent. Since 1950, he was a member of the Transportation Union. Ben was a member of the Christian Heritage Church in Wabash.

Ben is survived by two sons, Dr. Dale (Deana) Smith, of Elgin, Oklahoma and Paul (Linda) Smith, of Lagro; five grandchildren, Jamie (Brett) Stephens, Lynn (Andrew) Greenspan, Cory (Angel Nance) Smith, Kaitlin (Andrew) Duffy and Courtney (Neil) Miller; four great-grandsons, Adin Stephens, Axel Stephens, Warren Greenspan and Elijah Duffy; one brother, Eudell (Shirley) Smith, of Melbourne, Arkansas and one sister, Eudene Holt, of West Plains, Missouri.  He was preceded in death by four brothers and three sisters.

Due to COVID concerns, the family will have private services.  The family is planning a celebration of life to be held at a later date.
