Rebecca "Becky" Richardson

 

Rebecca "Becky" Alice Richardson, 76, of Somerset, Indiana passed away at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 6, 2024, at Parkview Huntington Hospital in Huntington, Indiana. She was born on August 3, 1947, to Kenneth and Maxine (Hayes) Richardson in Evansville, Indiana.

Becky's father was in the military, so she attended several schools growing up, but graduated from Allen County High School in Scottsville, Kentucky. She was known by many for her spunky personality and fun-loving nature and for her love of her cats Kate and Caliann, and her love of chickens giving her the nickname “crazy chicken lady”.

Becky is survived by, three children, Jeffrey (Deanna) Allen of Kimberly, Alabama, Chad Mills of Huntersville, North Carolina, her “baby girl” Susan (Andy)Younce of Somerset, Indiana; six grandchildren in which she loved with all her heart. She was Mawmaw to Audrey and Becca Allen and the best Nanny to Treyton, Jaeden, and Makenna Younce and grandma to Kyle Mills; one sister, Kay Garrett of Hardinsburg, Kentucky; She was blessed in having a best friend for over 50 years, Sue Ann Allegree, her “buddy” and was always thankful for her faithfulness in their friendship.

A special thank you goes out to Wellbrooke of Wabash therapy and nursing staff and to Parkview Huntington staff for all the love and care that was given to her and her family.

Paula Irene Yates

 

Paula Bowman Yates, 79, of Mt. Perry, Ohio, passed from this life Friday, February 2, 2024, at her residence in Russell Springs, Kentucky. She was born December 26, 1944, in Marion, Indiana, to the late, Herb and Mary (Hobbs) Bowman. 

After earning her bachelor’s degree in nursing, Paula became one of the first registered nurses in the state of Georgia.  She was a very “hands on” and independent woman.  Paula was a strong advocate for equal rights for women in the late 70’s, early 80’s and was until her passing, an environmental conservationist, always supporting various organizations including the Arbor Day Foundation and National Wildlife Federation.  Being a very “outdoorsy” person, Paula loved raising a big garden and being out in the country air.  She loved all animals, especially her “fur-babies” and just wasn’t able to turn a cat away.

She is survived by her daughters, Shawna (and Stephen) McHolan, of Russell Springs, Kentucky, and Kayla Yates, of Mount Perry, Ohio; her brothers, Jerry Lee Bowman, of Lincolnville, Indiana, and William “Butch” (and Debbie) Bowman, of Gas City, Indiana; her sisters, Janet Gary and Connie Jo “Tootie” Skeens, both of Marion, Indiana; and her five grandchildren.

Along with her parents, Paula is preceded in death by her brother, Jim Bowman; and her sister, Herbetta Cox.

A Memorial Service celebrating the life of Paula (Bowman) Yates will be at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 17, 2024, at McDonald Funeral Homes, LaFontaine Chapel,104 South Main Street, LaFontaine, Indiana 46940.

Visitation for family and friends will be one hour prior to the service from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 17, 2024, at the funeral home.

June Kay Johnson

 

June Kay Johnson, 78, of Wabash, Indiana passed away at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 30, 2024, at Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne, Indiana. She was born on June 13, 1945, to Henry and Annetta (Enders) Johnson in Breman, Indiana.

June was a graduate of Somerset High School. She served in the United States Air Force from 1964 to 1968. June worked at Magnetics in Wabash before retiring. She was an avid reader, enjoyed gardening, mushroom hunting, and walking. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family.

June is survived by two brothers, Garrah (Patricia) Johnson and William (Marcia) Johnson, both of Wabash, Indiana; two sisters, Margaret Dobbs of Destin, Florida, Harriet Sloop of Elkhart, Indiana; and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, and three sisters.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 8, 2024, at McDonald Funeral Home, Wabash Chapel, 231 Falls Avenue, Wabash, Indiana 46992. Burial will follow at Marion National Cemetery in Marion, Indiana.

Visitation for family and friends will be one hour prior to the service from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 8, 2024, at the funeral home.

Linda Owen

 

Linda Owen, 84, of Kokomo, Indiana, formerly of Lagro, Indiana passed away at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, January 30, 2024, at Northwood Village in Kokomo, Indiana. She was born on December 28, 1939, in Lancaster, Indiana.

Linda attended Lancaster School. She married Robert Owen on May 18, 1957. He passed away on July 10, 2012. She worked as a Nurses Aid for various nursing facilities before retiring, and also worked at the LaFontaine Cafe, Lagro Cafe, and Hoosier Point Restaurant.  

Linda is survived by one daughter, Martha (David) Clark of Columbia City, Indiana; 5 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two daughters, Cindy McNear and Dorothy Owen; four brothers, and one sister.

Per Linda's request there will be no services. Burial will take place at Lancaster Cemetery in Huntington County, Indiana at a later date.

Anita L. Shriver

 

Anita L. Shriver, 77, of Wabash, Indiana passed away at 6:43 a.m. on Sunday, January 21, 2024, at Parkview Wabash Hospital in Wabash, Indiana. She was born on October 22, 1946, to Ralph and Bernadine (Davis) Williams in Hornell, New York.

Anita was a graduate of Woodward High School in Toledo, Ohio. She worked at Dukes Memorial Hospital before retiring. Anita enjoyed gardening, but most of all enjoyed spending time with her family.

Anita is survived by one son, Drew (Barb) Shriver of Peru, Indiana; one daughter, Lorna (Jay) Martin of Wabash, Indiana; four grandchildren, Joshua (Angelica) Shriver, Mitch (Keyana) Shriver, Mason (Jess) Diskey, Olivia Diskey (Brian); eight great-grandchildren, Lily Popenfoose, Dawson Shriver, Griffen Shriver, Gabriel Shriver, Ayden Diskey, Madi Woodning, Memphis Pryor, Xavion Adderley; one brother, Ron (Gloria) Williams of Temperance, Michigan; one sister, Lori (Dale) Rose of Waterloo, Indiana; and several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents and one daughter, Katherine M. Shriver.

A Celebration of Life will take place amongst family. Private burial will take place at Alfred Rural Cemetery in Alfred Station, New York at a later date.

Myrtie Marie Cavins

 

Myrtie Marie Cavins, 84, of Winona Lake, Indiana, formerly of Wabash, passed away at 11:20 p.m. on Thursday, January 18, 2024, at Grace Village in Winona Lake, Indiana. She was born on June 19, 1939, in Glo, Kentucky.

Marie was a homemaker. She married Henry Cavins Sr. on January 5, 1963. He passed away on June 30, 1995. She was a member of The Remnant Church in Wabash. Marie enjoyed crocheting blankets, making photo albums, but most of all enjoyed spending time with her family. 

Marie is survived by two daughters, Annette Cavins of Kendallville, Indiana, Mary (Cavins) Moore of Wabash, Indiana; one son, Henry Cavins Jr. of Kentucky; 14 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; one brother Larry (Karen) Porter of Newport, Kentucky; one sister, Jewell Porter of North Webster, Indiana; one brother-in-law, Roger (Slim) Hysell. She is preceded in death by two sons, Leonard R. Cavins (Porter) and Robert W. Cavins, five brothers, and two sisters. 

Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 24, 2024, at McDonald Funeral Home, Wabash Chapel, 231 Falls Avenue, Wabash, Indiana 46992 with Pastor Michael Moore officiating. Burial will follow at Memorial Lawns Cemetery in Wabash, Indiana.

Visitation for family and friends will be from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 23, 2024, at the funeral home.

Kathleen J. Teal

 



Kathleen J. Teal, 69, of Wabash, Indiana passed away at 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 14, 2024, at Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne, Indiana. She was born on July 17, 1954, to James and Patricia (Hamilton) Cordill in Wabash, Indiana.

Kathleen worked at Honeywell in Wabash. She married Michael E. Teal on October 7, 1972. Kathy was a member of Christian Heritage Church in Wabash. She was also a member of VFW Post 286 Auxiliary and District & State VFW Auxiliary. 

Kathleen is survived by her husband, Michael Teal of Wabash, Indiana; two sons, Michael P. Teal of Wabash, Indiana, Phillip E. Teal of South Carolina; two daughters, Michelle Lynn Teal and Angela Jo Teal, both of Wabash, Indiana; 14 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; one brother, James D. Cordill of Lagro, Indiana.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 19, 2024, at Christian Heritage Church, 2776 River Road, Wabash, Indiana 46992, with Pastor Tim Prater officiating. Burial will follow at Friends Cemetery in Wabash, Indiana.

Visitation for family and friends will be one hour prior to the service from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Friday, Friday 19, 2024, at the church.
