Willie J.D. Lackey

Willie J.D. Lackey, 66, of Auburn, Indiana, formerly of Wabash, Indiana, passed away at 3:45 p.m. on Saturday, March 7, 2020 at Auburn Village.  He was born on May 13, 1953, in Wabash, Indiana, to Willie Lackey Sr. and Geneva (Gross) Lackey Reed.

Willie worked as a building maintenance man for apartment buildings. He enjoyed fishing and playing Bingo.

Willie is survived by two brothers, Dave (Brenda) Reed Jr., and Michael (Melissa) Reed, both of Wabash, Indiana; seven sisters, Claudia Miracle, of Wabash, Indiana; Leveda (Jedd) Hancock, of Wabash, Indiana; Marcy (Wayne) Shore, of Georgia; Mary McCoy, of Kentucky; Debbie (Shannon) Heinlen of Kokomo, Indiana; Judith (Joe) Rodecap of Ft. Wayne, Indiana; and Tammy (William) Brown of Kentucky.  He was preceded in death by one brother and two sisters.

Per the family’s request, there will be a service at a later date.

Laura R. Jolliff

Laura R. Jolliff, 41, of LaFontaine, passed away at 12:25 p.m. on Sunday, March 1, 2020 at Rolling Meadows Health and Rehabilitation.  Laura was born in Marion, Indiana, on April 15, 1978, to James and Joyce (Dice) Bell.

Laura was a 1996 graduate of Huntington North High School and she worked at United Technology in Huntington. 

Laura is survived by her parents; one sister, Sheena Bell, of Van Buren; three uncles, Richard Bell, of Marion, Edward Bell, of Richmond, Virginia and Joe Dice, of LaFontaine; two aunts, Cathy (Bob) Hagadorn, of Wyalusing, Pennsylvania and Janis Dice, of Fort Wayne.  She was preceded in death by her grandparents, James Minor, Caron Beil and John and Mary June Dice. 

A celebration of life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, March 6, 2020 at Banquo Christian Church, 8924 S 900 W 35, LaFontaine, Indiana 46940, with Pastor Harold Smith officiating. 

Friends and family may call one hour prior to the funeral service, starting at 10:00 a.m., at the church.

Jack A. Scott

Jack A. Scott, 89, a lifetime resident of Wabash, passed away on Thursday, February 27, 2020.  He was born on July 2, 1930 to the late Raymond S. and Maxine (Schuler) Scott. 

Jack was a 1948 graduate of Wabash High School. He attended Purdue University and then joined the United States Army.  Jack served in the Korean War and earned two Bronze Service Stars.  Jack married Wilma Maxine Silvers on December 31, 1953; she passed away on January 5, 1999.  He retired from United Tool, Inc. in Wabash.  Jack and his father were the original owners of Scotty's Tavern, which they ran for twenty-one years. 

Jack was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Wabash.  He also held lifetime memberships at the American Legion Post 15, Masonic Hanna Lodge #61, Elks Lodge #471 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 286, all of Wabash.  

Jack was survived by brother-in-law, Tom Webb, of New Haven and three nieces, Linda Struble, of Fort Wayne, Susan Savage, of Elensburg, Washington and Mimi Cook, of Fort Wayne.  He was preceded in death by one sister, Ina Lysbeth Webb.  

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 7, 2020 at McDonald Funeral Home, 231 Falls Avenue, Wabash, Indiana 46992. Burial will follow at Falls Cemetery in Wabash

Visitation for family and friends will be from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, March 6, 2020 at the funeral home.

Preferred memorials are to Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 286 or Donor's Choice.

Alice K. Hashbarger

Alice K. Hashbarger, 75, of Wabash, passed away at 11:15 a.m., on Monday, February 24, 2020, at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne, Indiana.   She was born on July 17, 1944 in Floyd County, Kentucky to the late Clarence and Claudine (McKenzie) Fannin.  

Alice was a 1962 graduate of Van Lear High School.  She married Billy L. Hashbarger on May 2, 1964. Alice was a homemaker and was a member of the Freedom Life Church in Wabash. 

Alice is survived by her husband, Billy; one son, Jeffery (Valisa) Hashbarger, of Wabash; one daughter, Kari (Brad) Harmon, of Peru; one brother, Charles (Dorothy) Fannin, of Staffordsville, Kentucky; four sisters, Soreana Bowman, Barbara (Thomas) Aviles and Bonnie (Henry) McCoart, all of Wabash and Patsy Bolden, of Nashville, Tennessee; four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.  She is preceded in death by one sister, Carol Hall.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, February 28, 2020 at McDonald Funeral Home, 231 Falls Avenue, Wabash, Indiana 46992, with Pastor Tim Morrisett officiating.  Burial will follow at Gardens of Memory in Marion. 

Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 27, 2020 at the funeral home.

Theresa Ann "Teri" Fedewa


It is with great sadness that the family of Theresa Ann "Teri" Fedewa announce her passing on Wednesday, February 19, 2020, at the age of 59.  

Teri will be lovingly remembered by her children Michelle, Aaron and Donnie Tooley; also, by her brother, Rick (Ginger) Fedewa and by her mother, Rita Fedewa. Teri was preceded in death by her father, Thomas Fedewa. 

Teri was a 1978 graduate of Wabash High School and she attended Ball State University.  Teri worked at LoBill Grocery Store in Wabash. 

Calling hours for family and friends will be from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. on Monday, February 24, 2020 at McDonald Funeral Home, 231 Falls Avenue, Wabash, Indiana 46992.

Jon W. Guenin

Jon W. Guenin, 77, of LaFontaine, passed away at 4:56 p.m. on Sunday, February 16, 2020, at his home.  He was born on January 19, 1943, in Marion, Indiana to the late Wayne E. and Dorothy (Spencer) Guenin.  

Jon was a 1962 graduate of Marion High School.  Jon married Karen Schaper on November 26, 1964.  He worked for the Coca-Cola Factory and retired from Preferred Technical Group.  Jon was member of the St. James Lutheran Church in Marion.  Jon was an avid golfer at Etna Acres and Shady Hills.  

Jon is survived by his wife, Karen, of LaFontaine; two sons, Jon E. Guenin, of Lafayette and Ethan W. Guenin, of Altus, Oklahoma; one daughter, Michelle E. (Guadalupe) Sanchez, of Marion; three brothers, Glenn Guenin, of Lincolnville, Gordon (Julie)  Guenin, of LaFontaine and Gary Guenin, of Wabash; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by one daughter, Heiddii K. Guenin, one brother and one sister. 

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, February 21, 2020 at St. James Lutheran Church, 1206 N. Miller Avenue, Marion, Indiana 46952 with Pastor Randy Glander as the officiant.  Burial will follow at Gardens of Memory Cemetery, Marion, Indiana.   

Visitation for family and friends will be from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 20, 2020, at St. James Lutheran Church in Marion.

James L. "Jim" Cochran

James L.  "Jim" Cochran, 74, of LaFontaine, passed away at 5:57 a.m. on Sunday, February 9, 2020, at his residence.   He was born on February 17, 1945, in Hartford City, to the late Luther and Lorene (Edwards) Cochran.

Jim married Carol Dice on September 9, 1967.  He was a dairy farmer for 44 years and loved to milk cows. Jim attended many auctions and was an avid mushroom hunter.  Jim enjoyed going to Circle K in LaFontaine and hanging with the guys.  He also was a frequent visitor to Rolling Meadows nursing home and loved visiting with all the staff and residents.  

Jim was a member of the LaFontaine United Methodist Church in LaFontaine.  

Jim is survived by his wife Carol; two sons, Tony (Christie Harris) Cochran, of LaFontaine and Charles Cochran, of Austin, Texas; daughter, Zina (William) Thompson, of LaFontaine; three grandchildren, Megan Hawkins, Joe Partenheimer and Matt Cochran; two step-grandchildren, James Thompson and Suzi Sears; eleven great-grandchild and two step-great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.  

Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 13, 2020 at McDonald Funeral Home, LaFontaine Chapel, 104 South Main Street, LaFontaine, Indiana 46940 with Pastor Susan Shambaugh officiating.  Burial will follow at the LaFontaine IOOF Cemetery.  

Visitation will be from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 12, 2020, at the funeral home.

Preferred memorials are to Heart to Heart Hospice, 1385 N Baldwin Avenue, Marion, IN 46952.
