Justo Rodriguez

Justo Rodriguez, 91, lived in Port Lavaca, Texas most of his life he passed away at 3:45 a.m. on Wednesday, December 18, 2013 at Millers Merry Manor in Wabash, Indiana. He was born on May 5, 1922 in Falls City, Texas to the late Justo and Guadalupe (Munoz) Rodriguez, he recently moved to Wabash to be with his family. A special thank you goes to Millers Merry Manor for taking exceptional care of Justo.

Justo served his country as a Combat Engineer and a Bridge Carpenter in the United States Army during WWII in Ardennes, Rhineland, Central Europe and France, where he received 1 Service Stripe, 4 Overseas Service Bars, EAME Campaign Medal with 3 Bronze Stars, Good Conduct Medal, and Victory Ribbon. Justo Rodriguez married Lydia Martinez, she passed away on December 11, 2002. He worked as a Janitor for the First United Methodist Church in Port Lavaca, Texas for 27 years, he also did gardening and yard work. Justo was a man after God’s own heart, he lead a simple life. Justo belonged to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Port Lavaca, Texas.

Justo is survived by a son, Alfonso Rodriguez (Paula Morgan) of Noblesville, Indiana; six daughters, Mrs. Tim (Guadalupe) Ryder of Marion, Indiana, Nasaria Weaver of Wabash, Indiana, Mrs. Michael (Eduvina “Edwina”) Keen of Wabash, Indiana, Marina Ross of Wabash, Indiana, Mrs. Roy (Olga) Galvan of Gas City, Indiana, and Mrs. Elix (Elva) Brewer of Carrollton, Texas; 13 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by a sister, brother and half-brother, along with his parents.

Funeral Service will be 3 p.m. on Friday, December 20, 2013 at McDonald Funeral Home, LaFontaine Chapel, 104 S. Main Street, LaFontaine, Indiana 46940, with Pastor Tim Prater officiating. Burial will follow in the LaFontaine IOOF Cemetery in LaFontaine, Indiana with Military Honors.

Connie L. McMillen

Connie L. McMillen, 66, of North Manchester went to be with the Lord at 11:39 a.m. on Saturday, December 14, 2013 in Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne, Indiana. She was born to the late Charles and Betty (Young) Leonhard on December 12, 1947 in Wabash, Indiana.

She was a 1966 graduate of Wabash High School. She married George McMillen on January 30, 1976, he survives. She was a member of St. Matthews United Church of Christ in Wabash, Indiana, also St. Matthews United Church of Christ Sisters in Faith. She was a homemaker to her family. Connie was an avid Notre Dame fan, she had a library of books and loved to read. She also enjoyed the outdoors, loved camping and her dogs.

She is also survived by three sons, Fritz McMillen, John McMillen (Beth), and Andy McMillen all of Peru, Indiana; daughter, Mrs. David (Lida) Han of Peru, Indiana; four grandchildren, John Michael McMillen (Katie), Elisabeth McMillen, Andre Thomas McMillen, and Karlie Anne McMillen; two sisters, Mrs. Jack (Bonnie) Fleming and Mrs. Ken (Chris) Benson both of Wabash, Indiana; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral Service will be 11 a.m. on Friday, December 20, 2013 at St. Matthews United Church of Christ, 1717 N Wabash St, Wabash, IN 46992, officiating the service will be Pastor Charles Dye. Burial will follow in the Memorial Lawns Cemetery in Wabash, Indiana.

Visitation for family and friends will be from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. on Friday at the church. Jean Wright

Jean Wright, 66, of LaFontaine went peacefully to be with her Lord at 12:56 a.m. on Sunday, December 8, 2013 with her family at her side at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus, Ohio. She was born on October 11, 1947 in Wabash County, Indiana to the late Lawrence “Shorty” Guenin and Marguerite (Troyer) Guenin, she survives in LaFontaine, Indiana.

She was a 1965 graduate from Southwood High School, also from Ball State University. She married Larry Wright on August 2, 1969, he survives.  She was a school teacher for the MSD of Wabash County Schools for 42 years. She is a member of St. Matthews United Church of Christ of Wabash, Indiana, and had previously attended LaFontaine Christian Church in LaFontaine, Indiana. She was a member of LaFontaine Eastern Star in LaFontaine, Indiana, Frances Slocum D.A.R., Retired Teachers Association, and the LaFontaine Study Club.

She is also survived by two sons, Lawrence Paul Wright (Keisha) of LaFontaine, Indiana and Thomas Wright (Dana) of Roann, Indiana; daughter, Mrs. David O’Roark (Alicia) of Columbus, Ohio; two brothers, Mark Guenin (Diane) of Wabash, Indiana and Oren Guenin (Rita) of Marion, Indiana; grandchildren, Tucker O’Roark, Samuel O’Roark, Paisley O’Roark, Elsie O’Roark, Izaak Wright, Logan Wright, and Paxton Wright.

Funeral Service will be 10 a.m. on Thursday, December 12, 2013 at McDonald Funeral Home, LaFontaine Chapel 104 S. Main Street, LaFontaine, Indiana 46940, officiating the services will be Pastor Charles Dye and Pastor Brad Wright.

Visitation for family and friends will be from 2 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Wednesday, December 11, 2013 at the funeral home, with Eastern Star Service at 7:30 p.m.. Betty J. Montgomery

Betty J. Montgomery, 88, of Wabash passed away at 2:15 a.m. on Friday, December 6, 2013 at Rolling Meadows Healthcare Center in LaFontaine, Indiana. She was born to the late Edgar and Mary Marie (Roye) Fiant on July 18, 1925 in Wabash, Indiana.

She was a 1943 graduate of Wabash High School. She married James E. Montgomery on February 28, 1947, he passed away June 30, 1977.  She was a legal secretary and retired as Wabash County first title IV D Child Support Investigator at the Wabash County Prosecutors Office.
She attended Wabash Friends Church of Wabash, Indiana. She was a member of the Kappa Delta Phi Sorority. She enjoyed playing bridge and most of all spending time with her family.

She is survived by a son, William E. Montgomery (Sharon) of Wabash, Indiana; two daughters, Mrs. Martin (Pamela) Smalley of Wabash, Indiana and Mrs. James (Susan) Kingston of Lagro, Indiana; two sisters, Priscilla Tyner of Avon, Indiana and Marjorie Sailors Indianapolis, Indiana; 8 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Robert Montgomery and a sister.

Funeral Service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, December 10, 2013 at McDonald Funeral Home, 231 Falls Avenue, Wabash, Indiana 46992, with Pastor David Phillips officiating. Burial will follow in the Mississinewa Cemetery in Somerset, Indiana.

Donald E. Watkins Sr.






Donald E. Watkins Sr., of Wabash passed away at 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 4, 2013 at his residence.  He was born to the late Adam and Polly (Patton) Watkins on June 11, 1934 in Bosco, Kentucky.


He married Lorraine Bentley on July 11, 1953, she passed away on January 22, 2013.  He retired from General Tire in Wabash, Indiana.  He attended Southside Freewill Baptist Church, Wabash, Indiana.  He was a member of the Eagles Lodge, Wabash, Indiana.

He is survived by his sons, Sam (Linda) Watkins, Urbana, Indiana, Donald (Elizabeth) Watkins, Wabash, Indiana; his daughter, Shelia (Myron) Bishir, Wabash, Indiana; 10 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by a great grandchild.

Funeral Service will be 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 7, 2013 at McDonald Funeral Home, 231 Falls Avenue, Wabash, Indiana, with Pastor Tim Webb officiating.  Burial will follow in Memorial Lawns Cemetery, Wabash, Indiana.

George Raymond Amerson

George Raymond Amerson, 76, of LaFontaine passed away at 10:15 a.m. on Thursday, November 28, 2013 at Marion General Hospital in Marion, Indiana. He was born to the late Augusta and Nancy (Lewis) Amerson on March 15, 1937 in Elkmont, Alabama.

He married Alyce Elilane Brown on August 3, 1956, she passed away on May 9, 2008. He worked at General Motors and he retired from Thomson Consumer Electronics both in Marion, Indiana. He attended Grace Community Church in Marion, Indiana. George enjoyed camping in Florida during the winter and especially enjoyed time with his grandchildren.

He is survived by his daughter, Mrs. Dan (Georgann) Bowman of LaFontaine, Indiana; four grandchildren, Danielle Shaw (Adam) of LaFontaine, Indiana, Laura Langebartels (Grant) of LaFontaine, Indiana, Lindsay Bowman of Daphne, Alabama, and Michael Bowman of LaFontaine, Indiana; brother, James Amerson of Columbiana, Alabama; five sisters, Louella Ray of Decatur, Alabama, Emma Tucker of Athens, Alabama, Augusta Webster of Decatur, Alabama, Margaret Tucker of Tampa, Florida, and Shirley Newton of Decatur, Alabama. He was preceded in death by four brothers and two sisters.

Funeral Service will be 2 p.m. on Monday, December 2, 2013 at McDonald Funeral Home, LaFontaine Chapel, 104 S. Main Street, LaFontiane, Indiana 46940, with Pastor Tom Mansbarger officiating. Burial will follow in the LaFontiane IOOF Cemetery in LaFontaine, Indiana.

Michael Ray Cochran

Michael Ray Cochran, 63, of LaFontaine, Indiana passed away at 9:36 a.m. on Thursday, October 31, 2013 at Rolling Meadows Healthcare Center in LaFontaine, Indiana. He was born to Wilbert and Helen (Reed) Cochran on December 18, 1949 in Grant County, Indiana, they survive in LaFontaine, Indiana.

He was a 1966 graduate from Southwood High School. He was a farmer and worked at Story Electric in Wabash, Indiana; he also was a bus driver for MSD Schools of Wabash County. He was a member of LaFontaine United Methodist Church in LaFontaine, Indiana.

He is also survived by two daughters, Kristina Cochran (John Griffin) of LaFontaine, Indiana and Mrs. Joe (Stephanie) Sunderman of Andrews, Indiana; brother, Dennis Cochran (Sherol) of LaFontaine, Indiana; granddaughter, Jacelynn Sunderman and also survived by his dog, Spike who he loved dearly. He was preceded in death by a son, John David Cochran.

Funeral Service will be 10 a.m. on Monday, November 4, 2013 at McDonald Funeral Home, LaFontaine Chapel, 104 S. Main Street, LaFontaine, Indiana 46940, with Donald Miller officiating. Burial will follow in the LaFontaine IOOF Cemetery in LaFontaine, Indiana.
