Beryle Miller

 

Beryle B. Miller, 92, a lifetime resident of Wabash County, Indiana, passed away at 9:15 p.m., Thursday, September 18, 2025, at Belles Place in Wabash, Indiana. He was born on August 28, 1933, to Claude and Nila (Barlow) Miller in Wabash County, Indiana. 

Beryle was a graduate of Wabash High School. He served in the United States Army. He married Shirley Warren on May 10, 1986. She passed away on May 28, 2010. Beryle worked for Jefferson-Smurfit (Container Corp.) for 45 years before retiring in 1997. He was an avid Chicago Bears fan win or lose. Beryle also enjoyed fishing and watching Westerns. 

Beryle is survived by one son, Robert (Joannie) Miller of Panama City, Florida; one daughter, Rita (Marshall) Staten of Wabash, Indiana; two step-sons, Charles "Ted" (Kathy) Rife of Wabash, Indiana, George (Melissa) Rife of Fort Wayne, Indiana; two grandsons, Chad Miller and Jason Miller, both of Panama City, Florida; three step grandchildren, Quentin Rife of Chicago, Illinois, Maria Rife of Washington D.C., and David Rife of Fort Wayne, Indiana; 20 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, one brother, Roy Miller, one sister, Margaret Banks, two stepsons, Carl Rife and Jeff Rife. 

Funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 27, 2025, at McDonald Funeral Home, 231 Falls Avenue, Wabash, Indiana 46992 with Pastor John Cook officiating. Burial will follow at Friends Cemetery in Wabash, Indiana.  

Visitation for family and friends will be one hour prior to the service on Saturday, September 27, 2025, from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Preferred memorials can be directed to Church of God Worship Center in Wabash, Indiana.

Ronald Friermood

 

Ronald W. Friermood, 76, a lifetime resident of Wabash, Indiana, passed away at 2:35 p.m., Monday, September 15, 2025. He was born on October 8, 1948, to William H. and F. Louise (Ogan) Friermood in Wabash, Indiana. 

Ron was a 1966 graduate of Southwood High School. He worked for Carver Press in Wabash for many years before retiring.  He enjoyed cooking, studying family genealogy and boating in his earlier years. 

Ron is survived by one daughter, Lori (Karen Kalhoefer) Groves of McKinney, Texas; one son, Andy Friermood of Pliano, Texas; two grandchildren, Lexi Groves of Spring, Texas, Logan Groves of McKinney, Texas; four brothers, Gary (Kathy) Friermood of Wabash, Indiana, Joe Friermood of LaFontaine, Indiana, Lester (Vickie) Friermood of North Manchester, Indiana, Greg (Jody) Friermood of LaFontaine, Indiana; and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents. 

Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 20, 2025, at McDonald Funeral Home, 231 Falls Avenue, Wabash, Indiana 46992 with Pastor David Phillips officiating. Burial will follow at Mississinewa Memorial Cemetery in Wabash, Indiana.  

Visitation for family and friends will be two hours prior to the service on Saturday, September 20, 2025, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home.

Charles R. "Chuck" Foster

 

Charles R. "Chuck" Foster, 68, of Wabash, Indiana passed away at 4:00 a.m. on Monday, September 8, 2025, at Kindred Hospital in Indianapolis, Indiana. He was born to Ray Hamilton and Alta Jean (Murray) Foster on October 12, 1956, in Oak Ridge, Tennessee.

Chuck was a 1974 graduate of Wabash High School. He married Terry Helm on November 18, 1978. Chuck worked as a supervisor and in sales at Wabash Alloys for 27 years. He enjoyed playing baseball, softball, and golf over the years. Chuck was a dog lover, especially Golden Retrievers. He was a member of American Legion Post 15 and was the President of the Wabash Eagles Lodge.  

Chuck is survived by his wife, Terry Foster of Wabash, Indiana; two daughters, Sara (Ryan) McCoart of Wabash, Indiana, Samantha (Austin) Hamm of Clayton, Indiana; five grandchildren, Alison McCoart, Emily McCoart, Lillian Hamm, Lainey Hamm, Laura Jean Hamm; three sisters, Sandra Melzoni of Wabash, Indiana, Patsy (David) Stair of Knoxville, Tennessee, Angie Foster (Renee Mackin) of Nashville, Tennessee. He is preceded in death by his parents. 

A Celebration of Chuck's Life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 27, 2025, at McDonald Funeral Home, 231 Falls Avenue, Wabash, Indiana 46992.

Visitation for family and friends will be two hours prior to the service on Saturday, September 27, 2025, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home.

Lois Murphy


 Lois A. Murphy, 86, a lifetime resident of Wabash, Indiana, passed away at 4:40 p.m., Friday, September 5, 2025, at Peabody Retirment Community in North Manchester, Indiana. She was born on December 17, 1938, to Claude and Mary (Frantz) Keaffaber in Wabash, Indiana. 

Lois was a 1957 graduate of Wabash High School. She worked various places around Wabash including General Tire, Peabody Manufacturing, United Tech, and also baked cakes for many years. Lois was a member of Home Eck Busy Bee, Pricilla Class at Bachelor Creek, Artese Craft Club, and Wabash County 4-H. She held a membership at Church of Christ at Wabash. Lois was an animal lover. She loved her dog, Ginger. 

Lois is survived by one daughter, Renee (Richard) Day of Denver, Indiana; one son, Bret Murphy of North Branch, Michigan; four grandchildren, Brandon Wideman, Brooke (Jeremy Crow) Guyer, Chandler (Lacey) Murphy, MaKayla (Jayson Hopkins) Murphy; three step grandchildren, Alan Day, Aaron (Shelly) Day, Adam (Joy) Day; 13 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by two sons, Donald Crumrine and Greg Murphy.

Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 10, 2025, at Church of Christ at Wabash, 1904 N. Wabash Street, Wabash, Indiana 46992. Burial will follow at Memorial Lawns Cemetery in Wabash, Indiana.  

Visitation for family and friends will be two hours prior to the service on Wednesday, September 10, 2025, from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the church.

Paula Ann "Emily" Scaggs

 

Paula Ann "Emily" Scaggs, 53, of Wabash, Indiana, passed away at 2:52 p.m., Thursday, September 4, 2025, at Parkview Whitley in Columbia City, Indiana. She was born on December 12, 1971. 

Emily was raised by Nevin F. and Sandra Kaye "Sandy" (Jefferson) Hettmansperger from the age of 10 years old. She enjoyed getting dressed up and wearing jewelry. Emily loved listening to various types of music and playing with her dolls. Emily was a member of Bachelor Creek Church of Christ in Wabash, Indiana. 

She is survived by two sisters, Kim (David) Pegg and Jeanettah Lyons, both of Wabash, Indiana; nieces and nephew, Abbie (Zach) Wright of Peru, Indiana, Jacob (Kristen) Pegg of Lagro, Indiana, Charyn Hettmansperger of Roann, Indiana; great-nieces and nephews, Hudson and Hartlee Wright of Peru, Indiana and Carter, Reese, and Waylon Pegg of Lagro, Indiana. She is preceded in death by Nevin and Sandra Hettmansperger and one brother, Michael Hettmansperger, who passed July 7, 2024. 

Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 17, 2025, at McDonald Funeral Home, 231 Falls Avenue, Wabash, Indiana 46992 with Pastor Brad Wright officiating. Burial will follow at Falls Cemetery in Wabash, Indiana.  

Visitation for family and friends will be one hour prior to the service on Wednesday, September 17, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home.
