Carol M. Snyder

 

Carol M. Snyder, 90, of LaFontaine, Indiana passed away at 12:51 a.m. on July 28, 2024, at her residence in LaFontaine, Indiana. She was born on September 2, 1933, to Paul and Naomi (Deemer) Hacker in Huntington County, Indiana.

Carol was a 1951 graduate of Andrews High School. After school she married her husband of 49 years, Charles Emerson Snyder on July 3, 1955. She worked at Wells Fargo Bank, formally known as LaFontaine Bank, and retired in 1999. She was a former Grand Marshall of the LaFontaine Parade.  She was an active member of LaFontaine United Methodist Church, the Home Ec. Club, and the Literary Club all in LaFontaine, Indiana. Carol was also a member of the Grant County YMCA in Marion, Indiana.

Carol is survived by her three sons, Dan (Teresa) Snyder of LaFontaine, Indiana, David (Janet) Snyder of LaFontaine, Indiana, Dale (Laura) Snyder of Keller, Texas; one daughter, Cheri (Dan) Paul of Wabash, Indiana; ten grandchildren, Carly Snyder of Marion, Indiana, Dustin (Alexis) Snyder of Lake Elsinore, California, Evan (Whitney) Snyder of Indianapolis, Indiana, Lily (Rylan) Horak of Denton, Texas, Cory (Heather) Snyder of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Hallie Snyder of Dallas, Texas, Casey Snyder of Keller, Texas, Ashley (Levi) Perigo of Boulder, Colorado, Bryant (Kaila) Paul of Wabash, Indiana, Callayn (Sam) Schreuder of Decatur, Michigan; and fourteen great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Charles Snyder who passed away December 6, 2003; two sisters, Melba Schwob, Phylis Hubbartt; and one grandson, Britt Snyder.  

The family would like to show gratitude to Heartland Hospice and the loving caregivers: Jess Foley, Ashley Gray, and Denise Faust. 

Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 3, 2024, at McDonald Funeral Home, LaFontaine Chapel, 104 South Main Street, LaFontaine, Indiana 46940, with Pastor Daniel Snyder officiating. Burial will follow at LaFontaine I.O.O.F Cemetery in LaFontaine, Indiana.

Visitation for family and friends will be from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, August 2, 2024, at the funeral home.

Leo Edward Elshire

 

Leo Edward Elshire, 88, of Amboy, Indiana passed away at 10:50 p.m. on Thursday, July 25, 2024, at his residence in Amboy, Indiana. He was born on March 17, 1936, to Frank Edward and Geraldine Louise (Anderson) Elshire in Wabash, Indiana.

Leo was a graduate of Somerset High School. He married his wife Rosalie Ann Robertson on September 15, 1956. Leo entered the United States Navy in 1954 where he served in the Korean War, then was discharged in 1958. Later in his adulthood he worked as a millwright at Chrysler Casting Plant for thirty years before retiring. He was a member of the American Legion Post 15 as well. Leo enjoyed snowmobiling, hunting, fishing, and taking his kids and several others on many fun adventures.

Leo is survived by his wife, Rosalie Elshire of Amboy, Indiana; two sons, Denny (Bev) Elshire of Wabash, Indiana, Marty (Lou) Elshire of Amboy, Indiana; one daughter, Marcy (Howard) Draving of Wabash, Indiana; one brother, Tom (Sandy) Elshire of Wabash, Indiana; one sister, Kristine (John) Graft of Garrett, Indiana; five grandchildren, Katie (Fred) Gengnagel, Joshua (Faith) Dillon, Macy (Nate) Ebert, Andrew Dillon, Dory (Ryan) Strickler; eighteen great-grandchildren, Jeremiah Elshire, Cherish, Kira, Eli, Jake, Brayton, Jada, Gracie, Tamra, Nevaeh, Raelyn, Keaton, Kinley, Kannon, Kole, Ashton, Kaylee, and Savanah. He is preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Tamra Draving who passed away in 2013; and a grandson, Dustin Elshire who passed away in 2013.

Private Graveside Services will be held at at Mississinewa Memorial Cemetery in Somerset, Indiana with Solomon David officiating.

Marsha L. Walker


 Marsha L. Walker, 84, of Marion, Indiana passed away at 5:50 a.m. on July 24, 2024, at Wesleyan Health Care Center in Marion, Indiana. She was born on October 29, 1939, to Ernest J. and Louise (Hunt) Krhin in Kokomo, Indiana.

Marsha was a graduate of Kokomo High School. She worked at RCA in Marion, Indiana, specializing in home health care. She was known and remembered for her kind heart. She was a grandmother to so many kids in her neighborhood. Marsha would help others by providing food and clothing if they were in need. 

Marsha is survived by her two sons, Michael (Jill) Walker of Converse, Indiana, Jesse Walker of Marion, Indiana; one daughter, Christine (David) Hutchens of Marion, Indiana; one brother, John (Joy) Krhin of Greentown, Indiana; eight grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. Marsha was a grandma to 27 other grandchildren and great-grandchildren as well. She is preceded in death by her parents and one daughter, Emma.  

Graveside Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 27, 2024, at LaFontaine I.O.O.F Cemetery, with Pastor Susan Shambaugh officiating.

Shirley Ann Christman

 

Shirley Ann (Driscoll) Christman, 95, of Wabash, Indiana passed away at 11:00 p.m. on Monday, July 15, 2024, at Wellbrooke of Wabash in Wabash, Indiana. She was born on April 22, 1929, to Michael Joseph and Mildred Lucille (Hall) Driscoll in Wabash, Indiana.

Shirley worked at Marsh supermarket and retired after twenty-five years of employment at the grocery store. She was a lifelong member of St. Bernard Catholic Church in Wabash, Indiana. In her free time, she enjoyed spending time with family, being outdoors, hiking, white water rafting, and camping. Shirley would frequently say, “Keep a song in your heart and a smile on your face.”

Shirley is survived by three sons, Robert Christman of Wabash, Indiana, Richard (Toni) Christman of Brownsburg, Indiana, Bernard (Jenny) Christman of Huntertown, Indiana; two daughters, Connie (Steve) Crabtree of Somerset, Indiana, Carole (Rex) Hansen of Fishers, Indiana; one brother, Thomas Driscoll of Wabash, Indiana; nineteen grandchildren; twenty-seven great-grandchildren; and many great-great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents; one son, Michael Christman; one daughter, Cherryl (Doug) Adams; three brothers, Darl Driscoll, Larry Driscoll, Dick Driscoll; and one sister, Kathryn Miller.

Graveside Services will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Friday, July 19, 2024, at Mississinewa Memorial Cemetery in Somerset, Indiana.

Samson James Rowe, infant stillborn, passed away at 8:13 p.m. on Monday, July 8, 2024, at Lutheran Kosciusko Hospital in Warsaw, Indiana. He was born on July 8, 2024, to Samuel and Samphosh (Phat) Rowe in Warsaw, Indiana.

Samson is survived by his parents, Samuel and Samphosh Rowe of Warsaw, Indiana; one sister, Madlynn Rowe of Fort Wayne, Indiana; maternal grandmother, Sophy Bik of Warsaw, Indiana; maternal grandfather, Buntheang Lung of Warsaw, Indiana; paternal grandmother, Patty Maynard of Wabash, Indiana; paternal grandfather, James (Maria) Rowe of Gas City, Indiana; two uncles, Kris Rowe of Marion, Indiana, Sambath Chheang; and three aunts, Kaci Brenner of Gas City, Indiana, Katie Rowe of Fishers, Indiana, Kimyan Chheang.

Tom L. Sullivan

 

Tom L. Sullivan, 81, of Summitville, Indiana passed away at 4:49 p.m. on Monday, July 8, 2024, at Saint Vincent Ascension in Indianapolis, Indiana. He was born on October 11, 1942, to John and Delphine (Palmer) Sullivan in Wabash, Indiana.

Tom was a 1960 graduate of Lagro High School. After high school he obtained his associate’s degree from a business college in Marion, Indiana. Tom married his wife Dixie Sailors on June 16, 1961. In his youthful years he worked as an accountant for many years. In his free time, he loved playing guitar. For the past 30 years he had developed a passion for buying and selling classic cars, specifically convertible Impalas. Tom was also an active member of the Moose Lodge in Marion, Indiana.

Tom is survived by his wife, Dixie Sullivan of Summitville, Indiana; two sons, Cameron (Andrea) Sullivan of Pittsboro, Indiana, Janson (Wendy) Sullivan of Mooresville, Indiana; one daughter, Ginger Sullivan of Marion, Indiana; six grandchildren; and fifteen great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, John and Delphine Sullivan.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 13, 2024, at McDonald Funeral Home, Wabash Chapel, 231 Falls Ave., Wabash, Indiana 46992. Burial will follow at LaFontaine I.O.O.F Cemetery in LaFontaine, Indiana.

Visitation for family and friends will be from 12:30 until the time of service on Saturday, July 13, 2024, at the funeral home.

Jerry A. Hults

 


Jerry A. Hults, 83, of Wabash, Indiana passed away at 6:43 p.m. on Friday, July 5, 2024, at The Waters East of Wabash in Wabash, Indiana. He was born on August 5, 1940, to Virgil and Doris (Johnson) Hults in Hartford City, Indiana.

Jerry was a 1958 graduate of Noble High School. He then attended Purdue University. Jerry married Kathleen Shafer on October 4, 1997. He worked as a Wabash County Sheriff's Deputy, then was an Indiana State Trooper for 20 years, he then worked for the Bureau of Motor Vehicles as a Fraud and Security Investigator for 27 years before retiring. Jerry was a member of Fraternal Order of Police Wabash Lodge #83, Circus City Corvette Club in Peru, Indiana, and He was on the Wabash County Animal Shelter Board. Jerry loved cars and volunteered each year at Mecum Car Auction in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Jerry is survived by his wife, Kathleen Hults of Wabash, Indiana; two sons, Mark (Dena) Hults of Kokomo, Indiana, Chris (Alisha) Hults of Peru, Indiana; two daughters, Angela (James) Perez and Melinda Hults, both of Peru, Indiana; one stepson, Matthew Bruhn of Indianapolis, Indiana; one stepdaughter, Alison (Jon) McDonald of Wabash, Indiana; eight grandchildren, Alyssa Houlihan, Kimberly Hults, Zach Hults, Alex Hults, Cayne Hults, Collyn Hults, Aubrey Hults, Shaina Hawkins; ten great-grandchildren; one brother, Lowell (Delores) Hults of Marion, Indiana. He is preceded in death by his parents, and one sister, Marjorie Smith.

Glenna "Kay" Reed

 

Glenna “Kay” Reed, 68, of North Manchester, Indiana passed away at 5:20 a.m. on Wednesday, July 3, 2024, at Peabody Retirement Community in North Manchester, Indiana. She was born on September 23, 1955, to Glenn and Bonnie (Hamilton) Reed in Wabash, Indiana.

Kay was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary. In her free time at Peabody Retirement Community, she enjoyed playing cards, participating in Yahtzee, and completing puzzles.  

Kay is survived by one daughter, Luann (Ryan) Boswell of Montpelier, Indiana; one son, Larry (Whitney) Robison of Kentucky; two sisters, Linda Ritter of Wabash, Indiana, Peggy Sue Kendall of Peru, Indiana; four brothers, John (Teresa) Reed of Laketon, Indiana, Timothy Reed of Wabash, Indiana, Steven Reed of Wabash, Indiana, Jeff Reed of Peru, Indiana; two aunts, Carol Fike of Florida, Nancy Wasylenko of Wabash, Indiana; eight grandchildren; Samantha Cox, Cameran (Nicole) Higgs, Hayley (Kyle) Sherman, Jordan Robison, Payton Robison, Bryce Carpenter, Christian Carpenter, Noah Carpenter; and five great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Stacy Cox; one sister, Luann Reed; and one aunt, Rosie Campbell.
