Ruth E. (Prater) Rose

 

Ruth E. (Prater) Rose, 90, of Wabash, Indiana passed away at 10:45 a.m. on Tuesday, June 25, 2024, at The Waters East of Wabash in Wabash, Indiana. She was born on January 29, 1934, to Rev. Charles and Josephine (Price) Bailey in Johnson County, Kentucky.

Ruth married John Prater on September 27, 1950, who passed away in 1977, then she married Darwin Rose on March 27, 2001, who passed away in 2011. Ruth worked as an USA Inspector for Kroger Egg Exchange for 18 years before retiring in 1990. She was a Charter Member of Christian Heritage Church in Wabash, Indiana.

Ruth is survived by one daughter, Connie (Ralph) Pulley of Wabash, Indiana; two sons, Tim (Barbara) Prater of Wabash, Indiana, Daniel (Carolyn) Prater of Wabash, Indiana; one daughter-in-law, Sherry Prater of Wabash, Indiana; fifteen grandchildren; twenty-seven great-grandchildren; many great-great-grandchildren; one cousin (like a brother), Charles Lee (Phyllis) Price of Somerset, Indiana. She is preceded in death by her parents, Rev. Charles and Josephine Bailey; one daughter, Charlotte Fetter; one son, Johnny Prater; two grandchildren; one brother, Bill Bailey; one sister, Jackie Venosky; and her beloved dog Maggie.

A Funeral Service will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, June 28, 2024, at Christian Heritage Church, 2776 River Road, Wabash, Indiana 46992 with Pastor Tim Prater officiating. Burial will follow at Falls Cemetery in Wabash, Indiana.

Visitation for family and friends will be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service on Friday, June 28, 2024, at the church.

Tom Tracy

 

Tom Tracy, 79, of Wabash, Indiana passed away at 1:11 a.m. on Wednesday, June 19, 2024, just shy of his 80th birthday, at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne, Indiana. He was born on July 17, 1944, to Leo Hugh and Frances Nina (Fearnow) Tracy in Wabash, Indiana.

Tom was baptized at St. Patrick’s Church in Lagro, Indiana. He attended St. Bernard School through the eight grade and was a graduate of Lagro High School in 1962. He was a member of St. Bernard Catholic Church. Tom married Jane (Christman) Tracy on June 12, 1965. Tom and Jane cared for each other for 59 years until his unexpected passing. Tom and Jane were blessed with 5 children.

Tom was a hard worker and the owner operator of Tracy and Son Trucking. He was a passionate and exceptional farmer, in the field hours before his death. Tom was a devoted husband, proud father and entertaining grandfather. He loved playing “the bear” and always kept his children and grandchildren laughing and smiling. Tom was always kind and helpful to everyone he met and was a stranger to no one. Tom enjoyed spreading his opinions and wisdom, good and bad. Tom left us with love, stories and memories to last a lifetime. He was greatly admired by his children and grandchildren. Tom had fun doing everything in life and felt as though he had done it all. Tom was the most “one of a kind” man you have ever met.

Tom is survived by his wife, Jane Tracy of Wabash, Indiana; two sons, Dick (Shannon) Tracy of Wabash, Indiana; TJ Tracy of Wabash, Indiana; three daughters, Andrea (Marc) Petrilli of Springfield, Illinois, Christina Karolzak of Scottsdale, Arizona, Deanne (Michael) Langeman of Carmel, Indiana; two sisters, MaryAnne (Chuck) Kallmeyer, Barbara Tracy; one brother, Frank (Konnie) Tracy; fifteen grandchildren, Devin (Madison) Tracy, Catherine Tracy, Eric Tracy, Mattie Petrilli, Max Petrilli, John Karolzak, Thomas Karolzak, Ryan Karolzak, Jake Langeman, Ellie Langeman, Joey Langeman, Alyssa Langeman, Kaitlan Tracy, Emma Tracy, and TJ Tracy. Tom is preceded in death by his parents, Frances Tracy and Hugh Tracy, his sister Nora Melton (Tracy), and nephews Trent and Robert Tracy.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, June 24, 2024, at Saint Bernard Catholic Church, 207 North Cass Street, Wabash, Indiana 46992 with Father Jay Horning officiating. Burial will follow at Saint Patrick Cemetery in Lagro, Indiana.

Visitation for family and friends will be from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 23, 2024, with a Recitation of the Rosary at 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Marcus Beher

 

Marcus “Marc” William Beher, 51, of Wabash, Indiana passed away at 1:28 a.m. on Friday, June 14, 2024, in Wabash, Indiana. He was born on November 17, 1972, to Marcus James “Jim” (DVM) and Dorothy “Dede” (Rinehart) Beher in Peru, Indiana. 

Marc was a 1992 graduate of Southwood High School. Marc loved the outdoors, and everything connected to it. Fishing, hunting, grilling, and especially farming were very important to him. He taught his daughters to fish and hunt. He enjoyed grilling and trying new recipes. He made many wonderful meals for family and friends. Connected to farming was his love of the John Deere 420. He went to many shows with the tractor. He was getting to know his grandchildren. They are young but fishing expeditions and hunting would have been in the future.

Marc is survived by his mother, Dorothy "Dede" Beher; two daughters, Candice Gatchel of Lafayette, Indiana; Trinity (Chris) Wells of Camden, Indiana; one sister, Rachel (Joe) Rizzuto of Indianapolis, Indiana; one brother, Kevin (Terri) Beher of Fishers, Indiana; one nephew, Will Rizzuto of Indianapolis, Indiana; two nieces, Katie Rizzuto of Indianapolis, Indiana, Nina Rizzuto of Indianapolis, Indiana; six grandchildren, Bruce Wayne Smith, Harley Quinzel Gatchel both of Lafayette, Indiana, Jaxson, Karter, Dawson Wells all of Camden, Indiana; and a good family friend, Susan Hunter of Wabash, Indiana. He is preceded in death by his father, Marcus J. Beher.

A Memorial Service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 20, 2024, at Living Faith Lutheran Church, 242 South Huntington Street, Wabash, Indiana 46992.

Visitation for family and friends will be from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 20, 2024, at Living Faith Lutheran Church.

Thomas "Tom" Staniford

 

Thomas “Tom” Sterling Staniford, 53, of Wabash, Indiana passed away at 1:07 p.m. on Thursday, June 13, 2024, at his residence. He was born on July 17, 1970. 

Tom was a 1989 graduate of Northfield High School. He worked at Metal X, formerly G&S Metals in Wabash, Indiana. He married his wife Shirley Ross on September 9, 2012. In his free time, he enjoyed fishing, riding his Harley, and wrenching. He was extremely handy and there wasn’t anything he couldn’t fix. He adored his fur babies. Tom shared a passion with his wife when it came to rescuing animals.

Tom is survived by his wife, Shirley Ross-Staniford of Wabash, Indiana; He is preceded in death by his parents, Winfred and Joyce (Castle) Staniford.

A Graveside Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 19, 2024, at Memorial Lawns Cemetery, 1100 Manchester Avenue, Wabash, Indiana with Kenny Neeley officiating.

Judith Penisten

 

Judith K. Penisten, 82, of Wabash, Indiana passed away at 8:10 p.m. on Wednesday, June 12, 2024, at Heritage Point of Huntington in Huntington, Indiana. She was born on February 25, 1942, to John W. and Ruth G. Beckman in Hartford City, Indiana.

Judith was a 1960 graduate of Wabash High School. She worked at General Tire and ARC in Wabash, Indiana before retiring. Judith spent her early years teaching ballroom dancing at her studio in Wabash, Indiana. In her free time, she especially loved spending time with her family and playing Canasta. 

Judith is survived by one son, Christopher P. Penisten of Wabash, Indiana; one daughter, Tosha L. (Steve) Septer of Huntington, Indiana; two grandchildren, Caleigh (Joshua) Rice of Fort Wayne, Indiana, Denver (Allie) Burkley of Hawaii. She is preceded in death by her parents and companion, Robert Simpson who passed away September 14, 2017.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 3:30 p.m. on Monday, June 17, 2024, at McDonald Funeral Home, Wabash Chapel, 231 Falls Avenue, Wabash, Indiana 46992 with Chaplin Michael Deter officiating. 

Visitation for family and friends will be from 2:00 p.m. until the time of service on Monday, June 17, 2024, at the funeral home.
