Teresa M. Gressley

 

Teresa M. Gressley, 57, of Wabash, Indiana passed away at 12:05 a.m. on Tuesday, February 27, 2024, at her daughter's residence in LaFontaine, Indiana. She was born on September 9, 1966, to Franklin Gressley and Patricia (Koon) Middleton in Wabash, Indiana.

Teresa currently worked for Smithfield Foods in Peru, Indiana; she formerly worked for Miller's Merry Manor in Wabash, Indiana. She loved her family, especially her grandchildren. 

Teresa is survived by one son, Franklin Gressley of Logansport, Indiana; two daughters, Deedra (Marciano) Martinez of LaFontaine, Indiana, Dawndra (Corey) Easterday of Wabash, Indiana; 14 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Sherry Prater of Wabash, Indiana, Pamela (Donny) Shepherd of Roann, Indiana; two half-sisters, Angie Sadler of Lagro, Indiana, Sue Combs of Florida. She is preceded in death by her parents, one daughter, Brandy Hernandez, and one brother, Franklin Gressley Jr. 

Per Teresa's wishes services will be private for the family.

David Ross Johnstone

 

David Ross Johnstone, 81, of Wabash, Indiana passed away at 12:42 a.m. on Thursday, February 22, 2024, at his residence in Wabash, Indiana. He was born on August 4, 1942, in Kentucky.

David served in the United States Navy. He married Frances A. Cooper on December 26, 1972. David worked for General Motors Corp. before retiring in 2003. He also worked as a Wabash County Sheriff's deputy before transferring to the Wabash City Police. David enjoyed fishing with his wife and attending church on Sunday morning. 

David is survived by. his wife, Frances Johnstone of Wabash, Indiana; two stepsons, Bruce Gross of Wabash, Indiana, Keith Gross of Gas City, Indiana; and two grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, and one son, David Johnstone Jr. 

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 27, 2024, at Christian Heritage Church, 2776 River Road, Wabash, Indiana 46992 with Pastor Tim Prater officiating. Burial will follow at Memorial Lawns Cemetery in Wabash, Indiana.

Diana L. Weitzel

 

Diana L. Weitzel, 63, a lifetime resident of Wabash, Indiana passed away at 9:09 a.m. on Sunday, February 18, 2024, at her residence in Wabash, Indiana. She was born on March 22, 1960, to Herchell and Paula (Gordon) Butcher in Wabash, Indiana.

Diana owned Wabash Interiors in Wabash, Indiana before retiring. She married Larry G. Weitzel on May 22, 1992. He passed away on January 14, 2022. Diana was a member of the Woman's Bowling League at Wabash Cannonball Lanes for 30 years.

Diana is survived by her mother, Paula Butcher of Wabash, Indiana; two daughters, Ashley Martin and Andrea Martin, both of Wabash, Indiana; three grandchildren, Drake Sluss, Briana Martin, Madison Martin; four step sons, Alan Weitzel (Monica) of Akron, Indiana, Timothy Weitzel of Toledo, Ohio, Eric Weitzel of Silver Lake, Indiana, and Adam Weitzel of Georgia; two step daughters, Diane Weitzel of Peru, Indiana, and Nicole Schaffer of Wabash, Indiana; many step grandchildren; one sister, Kathy Gardner of Peru, Indiana. She is preceded in death by her father and her husband. 

Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, February 26, 2024, at McDonald Funeral Home, Wabash Chapel, 231 Falls Avenue, Wabash, Indiana 46992. Burial will follow at Pleasent Hill Cemetery in North Manchester, Indiana.

Jamie L. Degitz, 41, of Indianapolis, Indiana passed away at 2:29 p.m. on Sunday, February 18, 2024, at UI Health Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis, Indiana. She was born on February 2, 1983, to Terry and Karan (Garst) Degitz in Allen County, Indiana.

Jamie is survived by one son, Ashton Faust of LaFontaine, Indiana; two daughters, Taylor Harrell of Kokomo, Indiana, Emree Reed of Indianapolis, Indiana; one sister, Lindsay Degitz of Peru, Indiana; one grandchild. She is preceded in death by her mother and grandparents, Clarence and Lurene Garst.

Nancy Hammond

 

Nancy Kay Hammond, 74, of Lebanon, Indiana, formerly of Wabash, Indiana passed away at 7:10 p.m. on Monday, February 12, 2024, at Clinton House Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center in Frankfort, Indiana. She was born on October 1, 1949, to Charles and Ura Burtron in Crawfordsville, Indiana, then she was adopted by Everett and Velma (Miller) Manning at the age of 9.

Nancy was a 1967 graduate of Southwood High School. She married Dallas Hammond on January 11, 1991.  Nancy worked as a financial aid director at Wright Beauty College before retiring. She enjoyed crocheting, reading, fishing, music, and cooking. She also enjoyed rummage sales and enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren. 

Nancy is survived by her husband, Dallas Hammond of Lebanon, Indiana; three sons, Brad Shepler, Corey (Jamie) Shepler, and Rick Shepler, all of Wabash, Indiana; seven grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; one brother, Robert (Eileen Rios) Burtron of Beaufort, South Carolina. She is preceded in death by her parents, one grandson, Dustin Shepler, one brother, and three sisters.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 7, 2024, at McDonald Funeral Home, Wabash Chapel, 231 Falls Avenue, Wabash, Indiana 46992 with Pastor Peter Sebert officiating. Burial will take place at Enterprise Cemetery in Miami County, Indiana at a later date.

Norman Dickerhoff

 

Norman E. Dickerhoff, 51, of Wabash, Indiana passed away at 7:38 a.m. on Monday, February 12, 2024, at Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne, Indiana. He was born on December 2, 1972, to Patricia A. Randolph in Wabash, Indiana.

Norman was a 1991 graduate of Wabash High School. He worked at Taco Bell in Wabash along with Penguin Point. Norman loved to fish, mushroom hunt, watch Trailer Park Boys, and loved to eat fast food. 

Norman is survived by one brother, James Dickerhoff of Wabash, Indiana; three nieces, Brittany Dickerhoff - Bell, Michelle Dickerhoff, Hannah Dickerhoff, all of Wabash, Indiana; one great neice, Mariah Dickerhoff; one great-great-niece, Nevaeh Dickerhoff; three great nephews, Anthony Cole, Trevor Dickerhoff, Jadon Stephens, all of Wabash, Indiana; four cousins, Chris Burnham, Jamie Burnham, Todd Burnham, David Burnham, all of Wabash, Indiana. He is preceded in death by his mother and one brother, Bobby Randolph Jr.

Ella Jean Arnett

 

Ella Jean Arnett, 91, Wabash, Indiana passed away at 7:10 am on February 8, 2024, at Vernon Health and Rehabilitation in Wabash, Indiana, after a long illness. The daughter of Jim and Lottie (Whitt) Crace, Jean was born on June 30, 1932, in rural Kentucky.

On July 7, 1960, Jean married Curt Arnett in Asheville, North Carolina, but the couple soon returned to Wabash County to build a life together. She later owned and managed the LaFontaine Bar and Grill for 16 years until her retirement in 1996.

In her spare time, she enjoyed making ceramics, crocheting, gardening, traveling, attending garage sales, and collecting. In later years, she enjoyed spending time with family. After her retirement, she also lived in Brunswick, Georgia, and Paintsville, Kentucky. 

Jean is survived by her spouse Curt Arnett of Wabash, Indiana; sons, Rudy (Judy) Reed of Grayson, Kentucky, Jeffrey Arnett of Butler, Indiana, Joseph (Ramona) Arnett of Terre Haute, Indiana, David Arnett of Wabash, Indiana, Timothy Arnett of Noblesville, Indiana; She is also survived by sisters Barb Arnett of Wabash, Indiana, Myrna (Charles) Clark of Cincinnati, Ohio; as well as four grandchildren. She was preceded in death by both parents and brothers James Crace of Toledo, Ohio, and Jack Crace of Elise, Kentucky.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 14, 2024, at McDonald Funeral Homes, LaFontaine Chapel,104 South Main Street, LaFontaine, Indiana 46940 with Pastor Brad Wright officiating. Entombment in the Chapel of Serenity will follow at Gardens of Memory Cemetery in Marion, Indiana.

Rebecca "Becky" Richardson

 

Rebecca "Becky" Alice Richardson, 76, of Somerset, Indiana passed away at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 6, 2024, at Parkview Huntington Hospital in Huntington, Indiana. She was born on August 3, 1947, to Kenneth and Maxine (Hayes) Richardson in Evansville, Indiana.

Becky's father was in the military, so she attended several schools growing up, but graduated from Allen County High School in Scottsville, Kentucky. She was known by many for her spunky personality and fun-loving nature and for her love of her cats Kate and Caliann, and her love of chickens giving her the nickname “crazy chicken lady”.

Becky is survived by, three children, Jeffrey (Deanna) Allen of Kimberly, Alabama, Chad Mills of Huntersville, North Carolina, her “baby girl” Susan (Andy)Younce of Somerset, Indiana; six grandchildren in which she loved with all her heart. She was Mawmaw to Audrey and Becca Allen and the best Nanny to Treyton, Jaeden, and Makenna Younce and grandma to Kyle Mills; one sister, Kay Garrett of Hardinsburg, Kentucky; She was blessed in having a best friend for over 50 years, Sue Ann Allegree, her “buddy” and was always thankful for her faithfulness in their friendship.

A special thank you goes out to Wellbrooke of Wabash therapy and nursing staff and to Parkview Huntington staff for all the love and care that was given to her and her family.

Paula Irene Yates

 

Paula Bowman Yates, 79, of Mt. Perry, Ohio, passed from this life Friday, February 2, 2024, at her residence in Russell Springs, Kentucky. She was born December 26, 1944, in Marion, Indiana, to the late, Herb and Mary (Hobbs) Bowman. 

After earning her bachelor’s degree in nursing, Paula became one of the first registered nurses in the state of Georgia.  She was a very “hands on” and independent woman.  Paula was a strong advocate for equal rights for women in the late 70’s, early 80’s and was until her passing, an environmental conservationist, always supporting various organizations including the Arbor Day Foundation and National Wildlife Federation.  Being a very “outdoorsy” person, Paula loved raising a big garden and being out in the country air.  She loved all animals, especially her “fur-babies” and just wasn’t able to turn a cat away.

She is survived by her daughters, Shawna (and Stephen) McHolan, of Russell Springs, Kentucky, and Kayla Yates, of Mount Perry, Ohio; her brothers, Jerry Lee Bowman, of Lincolnville, Indiana, and William “Butch” (and Debbie) Bowman, of Gas City, Indiana; her sisters, Janet Gary and Connie Jo “Tootie” Skeens, both of Marion, Indiana; and her five grandchildren.

Along with her parents, Paula is preceded in death by her brother, Jim Bowman; and her sister, Herbetta Cox.

A Memorial Service celebrating the life of Paula (Bowman) Yates will be at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 17, 2024, at McDonald Funeral Homes, LaFontaine Chapel,104 South Main Street, LaFontaine, Indiana 46940.

June Kay Johnson

 

June Kay Johnson, 78, of Wabash, Indiana passed away at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 30, 2024, at Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne, Indiana. She was born on June 13, 1945, to Henry and Annetta (Enders) Johnson in Breman, Indiana.

June was a graduate of Somerset High School. She served in the United States Air Force from 1964 to 1968. June worked at Magnetics in Wabash before retiring. She was an avid reader, enjoyed gardening, mushroom hunting, and walking. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family.

June is survived by two brothers, Garrah (Patricia) Johnson and William (Marcia) Johnson, both of Wabash, Indiana; two sisters, Margaret Dobbs of Destin, Florida, Harriet Sloop of Elkhart, Indiana; and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, and three sisters.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 8, 2024, at McDonald Funeral Home, Wabash Chapel, 231 Falls Avenue, Wabash, Indiana 46992. Burial will follow at Marion National Cemetery in Marion, Indiana.

Linda Owen

 

Linda Owen, 84, of Kokomo, Indiana, formerly of Lagro, Indiana passed away at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, January 30, 2024, at Northwood Village in Kokomo, Indiana. She was born on December 28, 1939, in Lancaster, Indiana.

Linda attended Lancaster School. She married Robert Owen on May 18, 1957. He passed away on July 10, 2012. She worked as a Nurses Aid for various nursing facilities before retiring, and also worked at the LaFontaine Cafe, Lagro Cafe, and Hoosier Point Restaurant.  

Linda is survived by one daughter, Martha (David) Clark of Columbia City, Indiana; 5 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two daughters, Cindy McNear and Dorothy Owen; four brothers, and one sister.

Per Linda's request there will be no services. Burial will take place at Lancaster Cemetery in Huntington County, Indiana at a later date.
