Judy M. Mullen

 



Judy Marie Mullen, 78, passed away on Tuesday, August 23, 2022, at Parkview Randallia in the Supportive Care Unit in Fort Wayne, Indiana. She was born to William Ralph and Emma Merl (Darling) Adams on July 25, 1944, in Fort Wayne, Indiana. 

Judy was a graduate of Northside High School in Fort Wayne. She married Richard Byall, they founded and operated Dunfee Custom Butchering for 28 years. She then married Herbert Mullen on June 23, 1996 and moved to Wabash. She always said Herb stole her from Fort Wayne and he claimed he rescued her. While in Wabash, she worked at CVS, then as a substitute teacher for MSD of Wabash. She found she loved the students and teaching. Shortly after retiring she started using a walker, but that didn't slow her down as she and her husband traveled to 47 states and 2 Canadian Provinces on their Honda Gold Wing with the walker strapped to the back of the motorcycle. She made quilts for the great grandchildren as long as she was able and enjoyed making jams and jellies and was the family pie maker. She deeply loved and was loved by her husband and family; she will be missed by many. Judy was a member of the Lincolnville United Methodist Church and a life member of the VFW Auxiliary Post 286 in Wabash. 

Judy is survived by her husband, Herbert Mullen of Wabash, Indiana; one daughter, Janeen (Francis "Pete" Carteaux) of Columbia City, Indiana; two sons; Arthur Byall of Fort Wayne, Adam Byall of Fort Wayne, Indiana; two stepsons, George Mullen of Wabash, Indiana, Jeremiah Mullen of Indianapolis, Indiana; 11 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren and counting; one stepbrother, George (Bud) Taylor; one stepsister, Imogene Roebuck. She is proceeded in death by her parents, one son, William (Billy) Byall, three sisters, Merl Smith, Marge Walters, Jean Kloer; one brother Arthur Adams, and one stepbrother, Ed Taylor. 

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 27, 2022, at Lincolnville United Methodist Church 5847 E. 500 S. Wabash, Indiana 46992. Burial will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday, August 29, 2022, at Marion National Cemetery in Marion, Indiana.

Visitation will be two hours prior to the service from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday, August 27, 2022, at the church.

Preferred memorials are to be directed to Lincolnville United Methodist Church or VFW Auxiliary Post 286 in Wabash.

 John D. Parke, 73, of Wabash, Indiana, passed away at 4:15 a.m. on, Saturday, August 20, 2022, at Aperion Care in Marion, Indiana. He was born to Floyd F. and Mary E. (Sharp) Parke on March 23, 1949, in Wabash, Indiana.

John worked as a self-employed construction worker. He was gifted on reading blueprints from architects and loved talking about his various projects. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed riding motorcycles. He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War as an Airborne Ranger. John was a former member of the American Legion Post 15 and VFW Post 286 in Wabash.

John is survived by one stepson, Steven Smith of Wabash, Indiana; one stepdaughter, Lori Ann Kassman of Illinois; three grandchildren, Nathaniel Smith, Tanesha Thortan, and Diana Stewart; one brother, Robert Parke of Wabash, Indiana; one sister, Carol Leach of Wabash, Indiana. He is preceded in death by his parents and one sister.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 25, 2022, at McDonald Funeral Home, 231 Falls Ave. Wabash, Indiana, with Pastor J.P. Freeman officiating. Burial will be at Falls Cemetery.

Calling hours will be from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 24, 2022, at the funeral home.

Donald Hawkins

 

Donald E. Hawkins, 90, of Fairmount, Indiana passed away at 2:35 p.m. on Monday, August 15, 2022, at his home in Fairmount. He was born in Grant County, Indiana on September 18, 1931, to Oscar T. and Esther (Jones) Hawkins. 

Donald was a graduate of Banquo High School. He served in the United States Army National Guard. He married Retha Jones in 1954, she passed away August 1985. He then married Joanne Turner on June 25, 1988. He was a farmer and also was an electrician for 37 years at Ball Foster Glass Factory in Marion, Indiana. Donald loved his family, motorcycles, enjoyed welding, and loved going to Florida.

Donald is survived by his wife, Joanne of Fairmount, Indiana; one son, Donald E. Hawkins of LaFontaine, Indiana; three daughters, Sherry McCollum of Marion, Indiana, Karen (Danny) Wehr of Warren, Indiana, Christina Hawkins of Marion, Indiana; 13 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren. He is proceeded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 20, 2022, at McDonald Funeral Homes, LaFontaine Chapel, 104 South Main Street, LaFontaine, Indiana 46940 with Brock Meyer officiating. Burial will follow at LaFontaine I.O.O.F. Cemetery.

Sandra Dee Way

 

Sandra Dee Way, 61, passed away at 5:03 p.m. on Sunday, August 14, 2022, at Miller’s Merry Manor East in Wabash, Indiana.  She was born on May 26, 1961, to Donald and Ella (Triplett) Dials in Wabash, Indiana.

Sandra’s passion was music and her cats, but especially loved her grandchildren and family.

Sandra is survived by three daughters, Cherish Dials of Laketon, Indiana, Marisa Dials of Wabash, Mandalin (Jimmy) Starr of Wabash, Indiana; 8 grandchildren, Chloe Isley, Bree Dials, Izaak Coon, Rastis Gibson, Saranda Dials, Draden Burton, Magnolia Starr, Lillithe Starr; one great granddaughter, Amelia Wicks; one sister, Donna Dials of Plymouth, Indiana. She is proceeded in death by her father and one sister, Brenda Bakehorn.

Sandra’s final wishes were to have a celebration of life among family at a later date.

Iris Middaugh

 

Iris Middaugh, 86, a lifetime resident of Wabash, Indiana passed away at 2:05 p.m. on, Sunday, August 14, 2022, at her home. She was born to Orville Ray and Brownie Delight (King) Starbuck on October 16, 1935, in Wabash, Indiana.

Iris was a 1953 graduate of Wabash High School. She worked for General Telephone for 8 years and was a homemaker. She married Charles “Chic” Middaugh on December 31, 1957. He passed away on August 1, 1981. Anyone that knew Iris, knows that her family was her life and she enjoyed spending time with them. She also enjoyed spending time on her front porch talking to friends and neighbors and taking care of her flowers and yard. She also loved collecting gingerbread.

Iris is survived by one daughter, Mitzi (Bob) Pilgrim of Wabash, Indiana; one son, Rodney (JoAnne) Middaugh of Wabash, Indiana; one grandson, Beauregard (Sarah) Middaugh of New Palestine, Indiana; two granddaughters, Haleigh River (Leo Lemaire-Pyle) Middaugh of Indianapolis, Indiana, Allison Middaugh of Wabash, Indiana; two great granddaughters, Marianne Middaugh, and Iris Middaugh; and several nieces and nephews. She is proceeded in death by her parents, husband, 5 brothers: Carl, Harold, Jimmy, Dannie, and Gary; 4 sisters: Lillie Belle (Lynn), Jessie (Bob) Hite, Gloria D. Saline, and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 18, 2022, at McDonald Funeral Home, 231 Falls Ave. Wabash, Indiana, with Beauregard Middaugh officiating. Burial will be at Falls Cemetery.

Calling hours will be from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 17, 2022, at the funeral home.

James W. Easterday

 

James William Easterday, 82, of Wabash, Indiana passed away on Wednesday, August 10, 2022, at Autumn Ridge Rehabilitation Centre in Wabash, Indiana. James was born November 10, 1939, in Wabash, Indiana. He was 1 of 9 kids of Edward and Bertha (Hall) Easterday.


 James worked for the City of Wabash Street Department for many years after serving and receiving an honorable discharge from the Army. James was a member of Walnut Hills Mission Church of Revelation in Wabash in his younger years. He loved to fish, hand feeding his pet squirrels, and spending time with his kids and grandkids but most of all he enjoyed spending time with his many friends at Village Pantry.

James is survived by one son, Teddy Easterday of Wabash, Indiana; one daughter, Deedra (Brock) Mauricio of Woodburn, Indiana; Christopher Keplinger of Huntington, Indiana; four grandchildren, Joseph Easterday of Indianapolis, Indiana, Mark Deeg Jr. of Woodburn, Indiana, Blaze Easterday of Huntington, Indiana, and Brooklyn Easterday of Fort Wayne, Indiana; one brother, Lester (Joann) Easterday of Andrews, Indiana; one sister, Lois Murray of Wabash, Indiana. He is proceeded in death by his parents, one son, and six brothers.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 16, 2022, at McDonald Funeral Homes, 231 Falls Ave., Wabash, Indiana 46992. Burial will follow at Friends Cemetery in Wabash.

James L. Parker

 

James L. Parker, 59, of Wabash, Indiana, passed away on August 6, 2022, at his home. He was born on May 21, 1963, to Ray K. and Betty (Shinn) Parker in Melborne, Florida.

James worked in construction for Tradesman International in Fort Wayne, Indiana. He married Mary Katie King on February 17, 2005. He served in the United States Navy. He attended Bachelor Creek Church of Christ in Wabash. James loved photography, especially taking photos of nature and hummingbirds. He also enjoyed bonfires and outdoor movies with his family and smoking meat.

James is survived by his wife, Mary Katherine of Wabash, Indiana; two sons, James "J.J." Parker of Wabash, Indiana, Eric Baker Jr. of Tennessee; two daughters, Ali King of Wabash, Indiana, Kammie Parker of Wabash, Indiana; one grandchild, Kaylynne Dalton; one sister, Laura Trevena of Celina, Ohio; and many nieces and nephews. He is proceeded in death by his parents.

Lisha Lee Gatchel- McKinley, 60, a lifetime resident of Wabash, Indiana passed away on Monday, August 8, 2022, at her daughter’s home in Wabash. She was born on January 4, 1962, to Foster Jr. and Barbara (Edwards) Gatchel.

Lisha was a 1980 graduate of Wabash High School. She married William “Bill” McKinley on October 31, 2019. She worked at 5 Hour Energy Living Essentials in Wabash.

Lisha is survived by her husband, William McKinley of Wabash, Indiana. two daughters, Alexis Rautenkranz of Wabash, Indiana, Jennifer Meadows (Chris Nelson) of Wabash, Indiana; one stepdaughter, Ashley (Mike) Vandermark of LaFontaine, Indiana; two grandchildren she raised, Dylan and Dustin Mitchem; her parents, Foster and Barbara Gatchel Jr. of Wabash, Indiana. two brothers, Vince (Theresa) Gatchel of Lagro, Indiana, and Foster W. (Abby) Gatchel of Wabash, Indiana. three sisters, Beverly (Mark) Dillon, Kimberly Gatchel, and Barbara (Joakim) Abrahamsson, all of Wabash, Indiana; 7 grandchildren, 3 step grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren; and her two beloved Beagles, Athena and Crockett. Joan "Joann" Hill

 

Joan "Joann" Hill, 82, of Wabash, went to be with the Lord on August 7, 2022, at Parkview Regional Hospital. She was born to Kelley and Sadie (Moore) Lane on April 28, 1940, in Dungannon, Virginia. 

Joan enjoyed watching hummingbirds, playing games on her iPad, and always made time for family. Joan bravely fought a 4 year long illness. In spite of so much pain, she always wore a beautiful smile.

Joan is survived by her husband, Thurman Hill of Wabash, Indiana; three sons, Mike Stafford of Indiana, Kenneth (Naidene) Moore of North Manchester, Indiana, Brian (Kandi) Moore of Wabash, Indiana; one daughter, Jodi (Doug) Moore of Wabash, Indiana; stepsons, Michael (Roslyn) Moore of Virginia, Todd (Dee) Hill of Wabash, Indiana; stepdaughters, Glenna (Moore) Reed of Ohio, Marilyn (Moore) Cremeans of Virgina, Teresea (Ed Wicker) Hill of Wabash, Indiana ; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and nieces & nephews. two brothers, Bill Lane of Marion, Indiana, Dan (Judy) Lane of Wabash, Indiana. Ernest E. "Ernie" Holbrook

 

Ernest E. "Ernie" Holbrook, 69, of Wabash, Indiana, passed away at 9:20 p.m. on Wednesday, August 3, 2022, at Parkview Regional Hospital in Fort Wayne, Indiana.  He was born on September 1, 1952, to Adam and Dosha (Ray) Holbrook in Lima, Ohio.

Ernest served in the United States Air Force. He married Ramona Copeland on February 14, 2021. He worked for Miller’s Merry Manor in maintenance and the Wabash County Transit. “Happy Happy” was his favorite saying, along with “Love you and See Ya Bye” and he adored his grandchildren.

Ernest is survived by his wife, Ramona Holbrook of Wabash, Indiana. two sons, Jesse (Betsy) Holbrook of Fort Wayne, Indiana, Brandon (Amber) Catlett of Phnompehn, Cambodia; one daughter, Lisa (John) Blocher of Wabash, Indiana; two stepdaughters, Carissa Copeland, and Mackenzie Powell, both of Wabash, Indiana; 12 grandchildren, Anthony (Paige) Wooten, Dakota (Cayley) Holbrook, Jessica (Ryan Davenport) Blocher, Kameron Holbrook, Alexandria Blocher, Tyler Blocher, Riley Wooten, Danika Holbrook, Jaeden Winstead, Reagen Copeland, Karson McKenzie, Sativa Craig; 12 great grandchildren. One brother, Cledies (Linda) Holbrook of Wabash, Indiana. He is proceeded in death by one daughter, two brothers, and one-half sister.

Visitation for family and friends will be 4-7 p.m. on Monday, August 8, 2022, at McDonald Funeral Home 231 Falls Ave. Wabash, Indiana 46992.

Private Graveside Services will be at Preston Cemetery in Alger, Ohio.
