William "Bill" Moore

 

William “Bill” Moore, 65, of Wabash, Indiana passed away at 8:46 p.m. on Monday, July 25, 2022, at Parkview Regional Hospital in Fort Wayne, Indiana. He was born Bert and Phyllis (Aikers) Moore on July 21, 1957.

William graduated from Wabash High School in 1977. He served in the Army National Guard. He married Karen Blair on March 21, 1987. He retired from Ford Meter Box in Wabash on March 16, 2021, after 37 years. William was a member of the American Legion Post 15, he was the Vice President of the Eagles Lodge of Wabash, and Iron Order Motorcycle Club.

William is survived by his wife, Karen Moore of Wabash, Indiana; one son, Roger Moore of Huntington, Indiana; one daughter, Calian (Tyson) Wuensch of Wabash, Indiana; two grandchildren, Wren Wuensch and Briar Wuensch; two brothers, Brian Moore of Urbana, Indiana, Chris Moore of Wabash, Indiana; one sister, Lorna (Mark) Worrick. He is proceeded in death by his parents and one sister, Luann Hammonds.

Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, July 30, 2022, at McDonald Funeral Home, 231 Falls Avenue, Wabash, Indiana 46992 with Pastor Brad Wright officiating. Burial will follow at Memorial Lawns Cemetery in Wabash, Indiana.

Visitation for family and friends will be 4-7 p.m. on Friday, July 29, 2022, at the funeral home.

Preferred memorials are to be directed to American Huey 369 Inc. 209 S. Broadway Peru, Indiana 46970 in care of McDonald Funeral Homes.

Margaret Piety

 

Margaret A. Piety, 93, passed away on Saturday, July 23, 2022, at Bickford Senior Living in Wabash, Indiana. She was born to Floyd and Edith (Oliphant) Piety on April 18, 1929.

Margaret started school in Andrews, then finished early education in Marion, graduating from Marion High School in 1946. After earning a B.S. in Education from Ball State, she taught Elementary Music in New Haven and East Chicago, playing Violin in the Fort Wayne Philharmonic and the Gary Symphany during those periods.

An M.S. in Education came in 1957 from Indiana University followed by 32 years of teaching in Logansport where she was Director of Elementary Music Education. During those years she held a membership in Delta Kappa Gamma International Society for Key Woman Educators. 

She had opportunity to travel widely in the United States and after retirement in Europe. Trips also took her to Israel and Alaska. 

Retiring early in 1989, to care for an ailing mother put her in LaFontaine, attending the Boundary Line Church of Christ where her grandfather had preached in the early 1900's. Recent attendance has been at the South Marion Church of Christ, having been baptized there at an early age. 

While living in LaFontaine, Margaret played for several years in the North Manchester Symphony. She also held membership in the Wabash Musicale and the LaFontaine Literary Club, and helped serve meals on wheels to shut ins.

She is survived by cousins, Susan Price and Lynn Quatman and their families. Also, cousins in Terre Haute, Lila Waugh and Linda Vogus. 

Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, July 29, 2022, at LaFontaine I.O.O.F. cemetery in LaFontaine, Indiana with Howard Whittlesey officiating. 

Memorial may be directed to Delta Kappa Gamma- Gamma Mu Chapter in Logansport to the Margaret Piety Music Scholarship. Mail memorials to DKG Treasurer, 2500 High Street, Logansport, Indiana 46947.

Chester King

 


Chester King, 78, a lifetime resident of Wabash, Indiana passed away at 5:30 p.m. on Friday, July 22, 2022, at Parkview Randallia Hospital in Fort Wayne, Indiana. He was born to Edmund and Goldie (Butcher) King on September 27, 1943, in Wabash, Indiana.

Chester was a 1963 graduate of Southwood High School. He worked in the shipping department at Active Products in Marion, Indiana. He married Clara R. Staggs on December 6, 1963. He attended Freewill Baptist Churches.

Chester is survived by his wife, Clara of Wabash, Indiana; one daughter, Anita Kaye (Sanford) Levine of Whitehouse, Tennessee; two grandchildren, Jessica Levine, and Stephanie (Aaron) Banister; two sisters, Patricia (Dennis) Shoemaker of Wabash, Indiana, Laura Brown of Wabash, Indiana. He is proceeded in death by his parents, five brothers, and two sisters.

Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, July 27, 2022, at Falls Cemetery in Wabash, Indiana with Linzey Johns officiating.

Jeffrey Allen Buis Sr.

 

Jeffrey Allen Buis Sr., 68, of Wabash, Indiana, passed away at 1:23 p.m. on Saturday, July 23, 2022, at Parkview Randallia Hospital in Fort Wayne, Indiana.  He was born on September 1, 1953, to LeRoy and Joann (Jones) Buis in Alexandria, Indiana.

Jeffrey graduated from Madison Grant High School. He served in the United States Army. Jeffrey retired from being a truck driver. He enjoyed hot rods and western movies.

Jeffrey is survived by his son, Jeffrey (Kimberly) Buis II. of Wabash, Indiana; five grandchildren, James Sosh, Brittney Zettle, Blake Campbell, Jeffrey Buis III, and Brayden Rudy; seven great grandchildren; three brothers, Mike Buis, Gary Buis, and Carl Buis; one sister, Sharon Buis. He is proceeded in death by his parents.

Private Family Graveside Services will be at Marion National Cemetery in Marion, Indiana.

Sterling Hunter Armstrong




 Sterling “Hunter” Armstrong, 30, passed away at 6:47 a.m. on Friday, July 22, 2022, at his residence in Wabash, Indiana.  He was born on July 23, 1991, to Gray and Penny (Reed) Armstrong in Elkhart, Indiana.

Hunter graduated from Norwell High School. He married Corrine Webb on October 11, 2014.

Hunter is survived by his parents, Gray Armstrong of Blue Springs, Missouri, Penny (Reed) Armstrong of Lenoir City, Tennessee; wife, Corrine of Jonesboro, Indiana; one daughter, Kinsley Armstrong; one son, Silas Armstrong; Maternal grandparents, Dick and Ann Reed of Lenoir City, Tennessee; one brother, Kohlton Blade Armstrong of Fort Wayne, Indiana; one stepbrother, Brady Levan of Morgantown, West Virginia; one stepsister, Tori Levan of Bellefontaine, Ohio.

Dorthy Frances Reiken

 


Dorthy “Dort” Frances Reiken, 87, of Traverse City and formerly of Wabash, IN, passed away July 3, 2022, at her home with her family by her side after a brief illness.
 She was born on September 19, 1934, in Wabash, IN to the late Floyd Leroy and Viola Gertrude (Fierstos) Unger.

On September 1, 1954, Dort married Fred Reiken in Wabash, Indiana.

Dort attended Michigan State University and earned her nursing degree from IUPUI in Indiana. She was a registered Nurse at Wabash County Hospital for nearly 20 years. For many years she was a member of P.E.O., the Jaycees, and the local Alzheimer’s support group in Traverse City. She was also a devoted member of Christ the King Catholic Church.
Above all else, she cherished her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren, and treasured the times she spent with friends, those nearby and as far away as Finland.
Dort had a sweet tooth and enjoyed dessert any time of the day. She was a shopper extraordinaire, finding the best bargains and outlasting anyone with her on a shopping spree. She also loved her many cats throughout the years. Most of all, Dort enjoyed being with family, especially during summers at Spider Lake. She spent countless hours playing in the sand and water with her grandchildren, making fudge, and playing card games and dominoes with the family.

Dort is survived by her children Kimberley (Ramon) LeDoux, Cinda (Kevin) Hipskind, Christopher (Barbara) Reiken, and Martin (Barb White) Reiken; grandchildren Andrea (John) Miller, Austin (Erika) Reiken, and Mary (Robert) Morrissey; and great grandchildren Ava, Elaina, Asher, Philip, and Lily; and sister Frances (Thomas) Whitmeyer; and sister-in-law Ann Unger. Dort was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 66 years, Fred; her parents; and her brother William Unger.

Graveside services for Frederick and Dorthy Reiken will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, September 10, 2022, at Falls Cemetery in Wabash, Indiana with Father Jay Horning officiating. Following Graveside Services, the family will receive friends to visit between 2-4 p.m. at the Honeywell Room at the Honeywell Center.

Marsha K. Wolfe

 

Marsha K. Wolfe, 70, passed away at 9:47 p.m. on Monday, July 11, 2022, at Peabody Health Care in North Manchester, Indiana.  She was born on January 28, 1952, to Lloyd and Edna (Weaver) Buckheister in Wabash, Indiana.

Marsha married Bruce Alan Wolfe on August 2, 1971. She worked as a Housekeeping Supervisor at Community Care. She enjoyed gardening, reading, decorating, and crafts. Rummage sales and thrift stores were her favorite. She was a member of the Wabash Church of Nazarene.

Marsha is survived by her husband, Bruce Wolfe of Wabash, Indiana; two daughters, Christie (Nate) Edwards of Laketon, Indiana, Kellie (Jon) Kline of North Manchester, Indiana; two grandchildren, Carissa Edwards and Alesha Edwards; and one sister, Bonnie (Brad) Brittan of Knoxville, Tennessee. She is proceeded in death by her parents.
