Paul Jackson

 

Paul E. Jackson, 86, of Wabash, Indiana passed away at 11:37 p.m. on, Sunday, May 29, 2022, at Miller’s Merry Manor East in Wabash, Indiana. He was born to Leonard and Ruth (Reddick) Jackson on November 25, 1935, in Rush County, Indiana.

Paul was a 1953 graduate of Carthage High School. He received his undergraduate degree from Purdue University and his master’s degree from Ball State University. He married Janet E. Jarrett on July 4, 1961. He worked at MSD of Wabash County as a Jr. High Industrial Arts teacher. He was a member of Bachelor Creek Church of Christ. He was a Boy Scout Leader, then on an adult level. He was also a member of the Old Boys Engine Club, Life member of the National Education Association and the Tri-State Engine and Tractor Association. He was a member of the Indiana Teachers Association and Retired Teachers of Indiana.

Paul is survived by his wife, Janet of Wabash, Indiana; two sons, Phillip E. (Laura) Jackson of Waynesburg, Ohio, Patrick E. (Patricia) Jackson of Huntington, Indiana; two daughters, Phyllis E. (John) Wynk of Marion, Indiana, Polly E. (Todd) Hite of Greenwood, Indiana; one sister, Maryln (Victor) Kerlin of Indianapolis, Indiana; 12 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.

Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, June 4, 2022, at Bachelor Creek Church of Christ 2147 IN-15, Wabash, Indiana 46992 with Pastor Ryan Keim officiating. Burial will follow at Gardens of Memory Cemetery in Huntington County, Indiana.

Visitation for family and friends will be 4-7 p.m. on Friday, June 3, 2022, at McDonald Funeral Homes 231 Falls Ave. Wabash, Indiana 46992.

Kim D. Poole

 

Kim D. Poole, 59, of Silver Lake, Indiana passed away at 11:40 p.m. on, Sunday, May 29, 2022, at his lake home in Leesburg, Indiana. He was born to Gary L. and Janet S. (Driscoll) Poole on August 14, 1962, in Muncie, Indiana.

Kim was a 1981 graduate of Wabash High School. Kim followed in his father’s footsteps and started working full-time at Poole Foods Inc. in 1981. Kim married his companion of 20 years, Terri Wilcox on July 14, 2018. She survives. He was an avid outdoorsman; He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and being at the lake. He enjoyed spending time with grandchildren and teaching them how to fish. He was a Raiders fan and a fan of the Indianapolis 500. Kim was a member of Saint Bernard Catholic Church in Wabash. He was also a member of the Wabash Moose Lodge #1195, Wabash Elks Lodge #471, and American Legion Post 15 in Wabash.

Kim is survived by his wife, Terri of Silver Lake, Indiana; his mother, Janet Poole of Wabash, Indiana; three brothers, Keith Poole of Wabash, Indiana, Scott (Amy) Poole of Wabash, Indiana, Brian Poole of Wabash, Indiana; two stepdaughters, Tisha (Brad) Myers of Kokomo, Indiana, Hayley (Ryan) Reichard of Wolcottville, Indiana; two grandchildren, Jayden Evans, Olivia Steele; two nieces, Hannah Poole, Abigail Poole; two nephews, Dylan Poole, Taylor Poole. He is proceeded in death by his father, Gary L. Poole.

Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, June 3, 2022, at McDonald Funeral Home, 231 Falls Avenue, Wabash, Indiana 46992 with Pastor Brad Wright officiating. Burial will follow at Falls Cemetery in Wabash, Indiana.

Visitation for family and friends will be 2-7 p.m. on Thursday, June 2, 2022, at the funeral home.

Anita Marie Chalfant

 

Anita Marie Chalfant, 40, a lifetime resident of Wabash, Indiana passed away at 4:57 p.m. on Saturday, May 21, 2022, at IU Health University Hospital in Indianapolis, Indiana.  She was born on June 28, 1981, to Robert Gregory and Rebecca “Becky” (Coppock) Chalfant in Wabash, Indiana.

After many years of a long hard battle with Crohn’s, God called our Anita home. She loved being a mother, a daughter, a sister, and a niece. She loved her children with all her heart and had a love like no other for her children. She was an avid mushroom hunter and was always ready to go. She would always say the beach was her happy place, and no vacation like a beach vacation. She was a 1999 Graduate of Wabash High School. She worked for Pathfinder’s in Wabash, Indiana.

Anita is survived by two children, Morgan Brock, and Cole Unger; her parents, Greg and Becky Chalfant; her siblings, Riley Chalfant and Jasmine Chalfant; her paternal grandparents, Robert J. and Carmalita Chalfant; her aunts, Lisa Copeland, Carol Coppock, and Diann Hawkins. Also, many aunts, uncles, and cousins. Anita lived life to the fullest and enjoyed every moment.

Funeral Services will be at 4:30 p.m. Thursday May 26, 2022, at McDonald Funeral Homes 231 Falls Ave. Wabash, Indiana 46992 with Pastor Todd Masters officiating.

Visitation will be from 2 until the time of the service at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 26, 2022, at the funeral home.

Mildred Pearl Good

 


Mildred Pearl Good, 98, of North Manchester, formerly of Wabash, Indiana passed away at 4:25 p.m. on May 18, 2022, at Peabody Retirement Community in North Manchester. She was born on February 24, 1924, to Dorsey and Alice (Lotridge) Good in Marion, Indiana.

Mildred grew up attending Dora Christian Church. She graduated from Lagro High School in 1944 and Fort Wayne Bible College in 1955. She was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church since 1970. She was Director of Child Evangelism International Ministry for 11 years and was also involved with Good News Club for kids for many years. She worked at Wabash Magnetics and retired from Whites Residential as a seamstress.

Mildred is survived by three brothers, George (Sue) Good of Amboy, Indiana, Phillip (Julie) Good of Murphysboro, Tennessee, Burl Good of Lagro, Indiana; one sister Mary Bowling of Cherry Valley, Illinois; and several nieces and nephews. While never having any children of her own, she loved children and enjoyed working with children. She is proceeded in death by one brother, Earl Good; three sisters, Betty Funk, Pauline Paulick, and Phyllis Garret.

Funeral Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday May 27, 2022, at Dora Christian Church 2325 S. Salamonie Dam Road Lagro, Indiana 46941 with Pastor Mark Wisniewski officiating. Burial will follow at Center Grove Cemetery.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the funeral service starting at 1 p.m. at the church.

Gloria Shenefield, 72, a lifetime resident of LaFontaine, Indiana passed away at 12:54 p.m. on Saturday, May 14, 2022, at her home in LaFontaine. She was born in Wabash, Indiana on June 29, 1949, to John and Dorothy (Howard) Williams.

Gloria was a 1967 graduate of Southwood High School. She married David Shenefield on January 11, 2005. She attended LaFontaine Christian Church. Gloria was an avid poker player. She frequently played cards at The American Legion in Galveston and The Elks in Tipton. She also hosted many poker games and parties at her home. She played in the World Series of Poker in Las Vegas and Tampa, Florida; permanently ranking in the No Limit Hold’Em Games in 2017 and 2021. A passionate gardener, Gloria specialized in growing peonies. With her sisters, she visited many peony festivals and garden tours. In 2021, she won second place at the Indiana Peony Festival with her peony "Pastelegance." Gloria had impeccable style and taste. She was essential in helping her family and friends shopping for everything from clothing to home furnishings. Gloria was a magical woman who made everything and everyone better. She will be dearly and eternally missed by her adoring family and friends.

Gloria is survived by her husband, David of LaFontaine; one son, B.J. (Mecca) White of Jacksonville, Florida; two daughters, Ashli (Nathan) Vrooman of Wabash, Indiana, Stefanie (Earl) Beaupied of Marion, Indiana; one stepson, Derek (Danielle) Shenefield of LaFontaine, Indiana; ten grandchildren, Zach (Kelsey) White, Kaila White, Taylor White, Mia Cunningham, Konstantlee Kennedy, Etournatee Jones, Taylor Shenefield, Kenzie Shenefield, Gloria Rose Beaupied, and Drake Shenefield; four sisters, Ann (Tim) Clary of Fort Wayne, Indiana, Jennifer (Greg) Finch of Fort Wayne, Indiana, Monica (Craig) Sparling of Lagro, Indiana, and Christine McLain of Swayzee, Indiana. Gloria leaves behind many special friends including Mike Enriquez, Rodney Clark and Tami Mosier. She is proceeded in death by her parents, and one stepson, Cory Shenefield.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, May 20, 2022, at LaFontaine Christian Church 202 Bruner Pike, LaFontaine, Indiana 46940, with Pastor Brad Wright officiating.  Burial will follow at LaFontaine I.O.O.F Cemetery.

Cynthia Harlow

 

Cynthia K. Harlow, 67, of Wabash, Indiana passed away at 8:52 p.m. on Friday, May 6, 2022, at her residence in Wabash, Indiana. She was born to Willis and Esther Bogert on October 27, 1954, in North Dakota.

Cynthia graduated high school in 1974. She worked as an LPN for many years at Miller’s Merry Manor in Wabash. She was married Peter Harlow. He survives. She was a member of The Lord’s Fellowship Church in Peru, Indiana.

Cynthia is survived by her husband Peter, two sons, Leroy Eckols and Thomas Eckols both of Wabash, Indiana, one daughter, Christine Tharpe of Plymouth, Indiana, four grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, Adopted daughter, Meagan Harlow of North Manchester, Indiana, one brother, and two sisters. She is proceeded in death by her father.

There will be a Memorial Service held on Monday, May 16, 2022, at 7:30p.m. at The Lord’s Fellowship Church 51 Jefferson Street Peru, Indiana 46970 with Pastor Robert Engle Officiating.

Visitation for friends and family will be Monday, May 16, 2022, from 4:00 - 7:30p.m. at the church.

Steven A. Gribben

 


Steven A. Gribben, 74, a lifetime resident of Wabash. passed away on May 4, 2022, at Millers Merry Manor in Wabash, after a long illness. He was the youngest son of Edward and Elizibeth Gribben, born on July 10, 1947.

Steve graduated from Wabash High School. He worked at Various Industries and part-time jobs in Wabash throughout his life. As a teenager, he was good at sports and particularly liked baseball and basketball.

Steve is survived by two older brothers, Michael Gribben and Edward Gribben both of Wabash, Indiana, Nephews, Andrew (Christianne) Gribben, Zachary and Katherine Gribben of Moon Township, Pennsylvania, Nieces, Katherine (Chad) Craft, Brodie Craft of Wabash, Indiana, Angela Wegener, and Kyra Wegener of Vancouver, Washington. He is proceeded in death by his parents. 

Steve preferred to quietly pass on, there will be private family graveside services at Falls Cemetery in Wabash.

Peter R. Shepherd

 

Peter R. Shepherd, 66, of Wabash, Indiana passed away at 8:18 p.m. on Sunday, May 1, 2022, at Parkview Randallia Hospital in Fort Wayne, Indiana. He was born to William and Gielisa (Far) Shepherd on February 14, 1956, in Frankfort, Germany.

Peter worked in production at Gen Corp. in Wabash. He married Rita Hooks on February 4, 1983. She survives. He enjoyed motorcycles and watching Westerns.

Peter is survived by his wife Rita, three sons, Anthony (Crystal) of Clarksville, Tennessee, Todd Shepherd of Pensacola, Florida, Jason Torres of Wabash, Indiana, one daughter, Amy (Adam) Reahard, 5 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, two sisters, Carolyn (Steve) Rice of Lagro, Indiana, and Patty (Donald) Dunphy of Urbana, Indiana. He is proceeded in death by his parents.

Per Peter’s wishes there will be no services.

Fred H. Taylor


 Fred H. Taylor, 73, of LaFontaine, passed away at 3:06 a.m. on Saturday, April 30, 2022, at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne, Indiana.  He was born on March 24, 1949, in Colbert County, Alabama, to Julis S. and Mary (Agnes) Taylor. 

He married Katherine Sailors on July 14, 1968. He retired from Active Products in Marion, Indiana. 

Fred is survived by; one son, Richard (Becky) Taylor, of LaFontaine; two daughters, Jennifer (Tony) Miller, of Marion, and Holly Taylor, of LaFontaine; three grandchildren, Trevor Allen Bailey, John Eugene Bailey and Spencer Robert Taylor; one step-grandson, Cole Carter; seven great-grandchildren, four brothers; Gary Taylor of Marion, Indiana, Roger (Tammy) Taylor of Bon Aqua, Tennessee, Marty (Cindy) Taylor of Jonesboro, Indiana, Dwight (Brittany) Taylor of Tennessee; and one sister, Judy (Ron) Hone of Salsbury, North Carolina.  He is preceded in death by his parents and wife, Katherine.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, May 6, 2022, at McDonald Funeral Homes, LaFontaine Chapel, 104 South Main Street, LaFontaine, Indiana 46940. Burial will follow at LaFontaine IOOF Cemetery.
