Onolee Wertenberger

 Onolee Wertenberger 91, passed away on Wednesday, December 29, 2021, at Parkview Randallia Hospital in Fort Wayne, Indiana. She was born in Wabash, Indiana on May 17, 1930, to Lewis and Kathryn (Gorham) Harmon Sr.

Onolee was a graduate of Wabash High School. She married Donald Wertenberger. He passed away on November 29, 1986. She retired from Duke Energy after working over 30 years in the Huntington office. Onolee enjoyed spending time with her sisters and traveling.

Onolee is survived by 3 sisters, Janice Lindsay of Springfield, Missouri, Lola Harman of Lagro, Indiana, and Edithann Allen of Northglenn, Colorado.

She is proceeded in death by her husband, parents, 1 brother, and 3 sisters.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 7, 2022, at McDonald Funeral Homes, Wabash Chapel 231 Falls Avenue, Wabash, Indiana 46992, with Pastor Kirk Johnson officiating.  Burial will follow at Gardens of Memory Cemetery in Marion, Indiana.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the funeral service starting at 10 a.m., at the funeral home.

Jane E. McCray

 

Jane E. McCray 93, of Marion, Indiana formerly of LaFontaine, Indiana passed away on December 26, 2021, at her home. She was born on May 6, 1928, to Jesse and Maude (Reeve) Ayers.

Jane was a 1946 graduate of Marion High School. She married Guy J. McCray on August 5, 1951. He passed away on August 24, 2009. Jane was a member of LaFontaine United Methodist Church. She was a homemaker for many years, then worked at the LaFontaine Bank, then First National Bank of Wabash, and was also a telephone operator in Marion. Jane served many hours and years as a volunteer at Marion General Hospital, former member of Literary Guild, and CBI Veterans Group China Burma India.

Jane is survived by 3 daughters, Mrs. Wayne (Phyllis) Huttle of Chesterfield, Missouri, Carol McCray of LaFontaine, Indiana, Mrs. Brad (Connie) Crump of Marion, Indiana, one daughter in-law, Beth Ann McCray of LaFontaine, Indiana, 6 grandchildren, Shane McCray, Seth McCray, Ellen Poe, Meredith Frymier (Taylor), Cameron Huttle, and Claire Huttle, one great granddaughter, Emma Poe and second great grandchild is due in January.

She is proceeded in death by her husband Guy, one son, James McCray, one twin brother, and one sister.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, December 31, 2021, at McDonald Funeral Homes, LaFontaine Chapel, 104 South Main Street, LaFontaine, Indiana 46940, with Pastor Susan Shambaugh officiating.  Burial will follow at LaFontaine IOOF Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Thursday December 30, 2021, at the funeral home.

Rev. Earl Guingrich

 

Rev. Earl E. Guingrich, 88, of Wabash, passed away at 12:56 p.m. on Tuesday, December 21, 2021, at Autumn Ridge Rehabilitation Center.  He was born on January 23, 1933, in Payne, Ohio, to Virgil and Katie (Wilder) Guingrich. 

Earl was a graduate of Marion College and also graduated from Garrett Evangelical Seminary. He married Joan Hyatt on May 28, 1954; she survives. Earl was a Methodist Minister at the Church of Our Savior in Wabash. He was a member of the Lagro United Methodist Church in Lagro, Indiana.

Earl is survived by his wife; Joan, of Wabash, Indiana; one son, Carl Guingrich of Wabash, Indiana. one daughter; Marsha Guingrich of Wabash, Indiana; 3 grandchildren; Carl Guingrich II, Erika Bailey, and Cynthia Green. 6 great-grandchildren. 3 brothers; Ralph Guingrich of Portland, Indiana, Roger Guingrich of Celina, Ohio, and Dale Guingrich of Celina, Ohio. 4 sisters; Patricia Anselman of Celina, Ohio, Mildred Green of Peoria, Arizona, Lorrene Zuber of Coldwater, Ohio, and Violet Riggenbach of Paulding, Ohio. He is proceeded in death by his parents and 2 sisters.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 28, 2021, at McDonald Funeral Homes, 231 Falls Avenue, Wabash, Indiana 46992.  Burial will follow at Falls Cemetery in Wabash, Indiana.

Derrick Shelton

 


Derrick Shane Shelton, 57 of Lagro, Indiana passed away at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, December 14th at Parkview Regional Hospital in Fort Wayne, Indiana. He was born on July 9, 1964 to Ernest R. and Vera N. (Parsons) Shelton in Wabash, Indiana.

Derrick was a graduate of Northfield High School in 1982. He also graduated from Heartland Career Center with a Certificate in Auto Body Repair. He was awarded artist of the year in 1982 and his painting still hangs today. He worked at the Shirt shed in the 80’s, then Artistic Designs, then onto the Ritz Carlton Hotel in Naples, Florida as a manager and director of the fitness center. He was awarded 5-star employee of the year; His Mother was invited and attended the banquet held in his honor. Due to health issues, he returned home to Wabash and took a job for McDonald Funeral Home. Derrick enjoyed hunting, fishing, and Harley Davidson Motorcycles. He was an avid Indianapolis Colts and Kentucky Wildcats Fan. He loved spending time with family, friends, and grandchildren. He was also a member of Wabash Free Will Baptist Church in Wabash.

Derrick is survived by his mother, Vera Shelton of Lagro, Indiana; Daughter Chelsea (Joe) Beard of North Manchester, Indiana, Brittany Shelton of Tennessee, Granddaughter Kensley Thompson, Grandson Everett Thompson, Girlfriend Karen McKenzie, of Lagro, Indiana, one sister Adrena Shelton of Wabash. He is also survived by nieces and nephews, Heather, Justin, and Carlee, he was very proud of them. He is proceeded in death by his father and brother, Ernest Shelton and Maurice Shelton.

Derrick was an upstanding man who left inspiration to the one’s left here to mourn his loss. To honor his memory; his last wishes would be to be an organ donor.

Funeral Services will be Sunday, December 19, 2021 at 2 p.m. with visitation starting at 1 p.m. at Wabash Free Will Baptist Church 1056 Erie St, Wabash, IN with Bill Crank and Tod Masters officiating.  Burial will be at Lagro Cemetery.

Glenna Pogue

 Glenna (Harrell) Pogue 91, passed away on December 14, 2021, at Rolling Meadows Health and Rehabilitation in LaFontaine, Indiana. She was born on October 24, 1930, to Glenn and Iva (Davis) Harrell.

Glenna was a 1948 graduate of LaFontaine High School. She married Vaughn Pogue on August 15, 1948. Glenna was a member of LaFontaine United Methodist Church and a 50-year member of the Order of Eastern Star LaFontaine Chapter #301. She loved to travel and visit with people. In her spare time, she quilted, read, and worked puzzles.

Glenna is survived by one son, Von Pogue, of Huntington, Indiana, grandson, Robb (Lelas) Rapp; great granddaughter, Crystal Rapp, Great-great granddaughter, Sophia Rapp, Great-great grandsons, August and Theodore, Numerous in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

She is proceeded in death by her husband, Vaughn, daughter, Rosie J. (Charles) Rapp, Daughter in-law Cheryl Pogue, Sister, Betty Stair, Brother, Lowell Harrell, and niece, Sandra Trisler.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, December 17, 2021, at McDonald Funeral Homes, LaFontaine Chapel, 104 South Main Street, LaFontaine, Indiana 46940, with Pastor Susan Shambaugh officiating.  Burial will follow at LaFontaine IOOF Cemetery.

Kathy Lynn Miller

 Kathy Lynn “Momma” Miller, 63, of Lagro, passed away at 12:06 p.m. on Saturday, December 11, 2021, at her residence.  She was born on October 5, 1958, in Wabash, Indiana, to Murline Copeland and Shellia Louise (Murray) Davidson.  

Kathy was a 1976 graduate of Wabash High School. Kathy married David Miller on March 10, 1978, in LaFontaine Methodist Church. He passed away on October 2, 2003. Kathy was a long-time employee of McDonald’s in Wabash, Indiana. She enjoyed quilting and sewing, doing puzzles, but most of all she enjoyed her family and grandchildren.

Kathy is survived by two sons; Willie (Angela) Miller, of Swayzee, Indiana and John Miller, of Wabash; stepfather, Jack Davidson of Lagro, Indiana; 5 grandchildren; Garrett (Tori) Vrooman, of Marion, Indiana, Ryanne Airgood, of Wabash, Indiana, Reign (Collin) Williams, of Sweetser, Indiana, Tyler Miller, of Swayzee, Indiana, Aubrey Miller, of Swayzee, Indiana. 2 brothers; Andy (Krysha) Davidson, of Muncie, Indiana, and Jimmy (Priscilla) Davidson, of Muncie, Indiana. 4 sisters; Sharon (Rod) Hanes, of Peru, Indiana, Veva (Tom) Torres, of Wabash, Indiana, Patricia Copeland, of Wabash, Indiana, Jana Futrell, of Peru, Indiana; and also, many nieces and nephews. She is proceeded in death by her husband, David Miller, one son, Christopher and one brother, David Copeland, and one great grandchild Penelope Williams.

Judy Ann Teague

 Judy Ann Teague, 75, of LaFontaine, passed away at 5:16 p.m. on Wednesday, December 8, 2021, at Community East Hospital in Indianapolis.  She was born on May 26, 1946, in Marion, Indiana, to Carl and Helen (Painter) Shelton.  

 

Judy was a 1964 graduate of Marion High School. Judy married Roy L. Teague on June 7, 2000.  Judy worked for Friends Church, City of Wabash, MSD of Wabash County, Marion Community Schools, and Wabash City Schools, as a bookkeeper and treasurer. She was a member of College Corner Brethren Church. Judy loved gardening, playing cards at card club, Myrtle Beach vacations, going to the lake, but most of all spending time with her family.

 

Judy is survived by her husband, Roy L. Teague, of LaFontaine; one son, Michael (Amanda) Rigney, of LaFontaine, one stepson, Troy Teague, of Wabash; one stepdaughter, Michelle Jackson, of Leesburg, Indiana; 12 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. She is proceeded in death by one son, David Rigney, who passed away on November 17, 2014.

 

There will be a Celebration of Life held at the College Corner Brethren Church on December 18th, 2021, at 2p.m with Pastor Solomon David Officiating. Following the service there will be a time of fellowship with family and friends.

 

Per the family’s wishes, they would like everyone in attendance to dress casually.

Michael Lee Wilson


Michael "Mike" Lee Wilson, 69, of Wabash, passed away at 9:19 p.m. on Sunday, November 28, 2021, at Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne.  He was born on January 24, 1952, in Middleburg, Ohio.  He was the son of the late Eugene and Evadne (Musser) Wilson. 

Mike walked many paths in his life. He was a United States Army veteran during Vietnam, a deputy sheriff for Lincoln County, Tennessee, a police officer and undercover investigator in Alabama, Chief of the volunteer fire department in Alabama, and hog farmer and dairy farmer in multiple states. He continually volunteered with 4H and other youth and religious organizations. He found his true passion for life in child youth services working at Josiah White's youth facility and being a foster parent. Along the years, Mike impacted so many countless lives with all his selfless acts.  

In his free time, Mike loved cooking, gardening, drinking coffee, trying new beers, and then drinking even more coffee.  He also enjoyed traveling to see his son. 

Mike is survived by his loving wife of 34 years, Terry (Upperman) Wilson; children, Heather (Owen) Wolfe, Nate (Sabrina) Wilson, Shiloh (Ethan) Cating, Mariah (Phil) Peterson, Cera (Wes) Covey; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; and sisters Pat (Larry) Mainey and Peg (Chuck) Green. 

Funeral Services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 4, 2021, at Church of Christ at Treaty, 6793 S. 50 E., Wabash, Indiana 46992 with Pastor Ryan Weaver officiating. 

Visitation for friends and family will be from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, December 3, 2021, at McDonald Funeral Homes, 231 Falls Avenue, Wabash, Indiana 46992 and one hour prior to the funeral service, at the church.

Patricia Ann "Pat" Kaufman


Patricia Ann "Pat" Kaufman, 83, of Wabash, passed away at 1:20 p.m. on Sunday, November 28, 2021, at Miller's Merry Manor - East in Wabash.  She was born on September 29, 1938, in Muncie, Indiana, to the late Lee and Mildred (Webb) Robinson.   

Pat was a 1956 graduate of Noble High School.  She married James Lee Kaufman on December 22, 1957.  Pat worked for 19 years and retired, as a teller, from Wells Fargo Bank. Pat was an excellent cook and she enjoyed doing crossword puzzles and gardening, but most of all, Pat loved spending time with her family.  

Pat is survived by her husband of almost 64 years, James Lee Kaufman, of Wabash; two sons, Daniel Kaufman, of Wabash, and Scott (April) Kaufman, of Avis, Pennsylvania; brother, Michael Robinson, of South Whitley; two grandchildren, Courtney Danielle Kaufman and Carter Samuel Kaufman; and family friend, Chuck Metzger. 

Per Pat's wishes, there will be no public services and the immediate family will have private graveside services.

Eileen Ruth Waite


Eileen Ruth Waite, 93, of Wabash, Indiana passed away at 2:40 P.M. November 17, 2021 at Wabash Parkview Hospital in Wabash. She was born March 24, 1928 in Peru, Indiana to Raymond C. Wise and Esther L. (McMinn) Wise. She was a 1947 graduate of Somerset High School. She married Carl E. Waite in Warsaw on Decmber 18, 1948; He passed away March of 1989. 

She worked several jobs during her lifetime, with the Marion VA being her last. Her hobby was dolls and was the President of the Christmas City Doll Club for several years. She made and sold porcelain dolls all over the world. Dolls were her passion. She also enjoyed flea markets, cooking, ceramics, shopping, Bingo, but most of all she enjoyed her family. 

She is survived by her daughter; Phyllis (Terry) Jivery, of LaFontaine, and grandsons; Jeremy (Leia) Waite, of LaFontaine, Luke Waite, of Oklahoma, and Jason Waite, of Wabash. Six great-grandchildren; Tiffany Key, of Kokomo, Austin Key, of Wabash, Hannah Waite, Sadie Waite, Abby Waite, and Jacob Waite, all of LaFontaine. and one great great-granddaughter; Jocelyn Key, of Wabash. She was proceeded in death by her parents, brother; Raymond G. Wise, sons; Steve Waite and Rod Waite, and Granddaughter; Angela Bowling. 

Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, November 22, 2021, at McDonald Funeral Homes, 231 Falls Avenue, Wabash, Indiana 46992 with Pastor Brad Wright officiating.  Burial will follow at Mississinewa Memorial Cemetery.

Pamela Jo Reahard


Pamela Jo Reahard, 71, a lifetime resident of Wabash, passed away at 11:44 p.m. on Thursday, November 11, 2021, at Parkview Wabash Hospital.  Pam was born on May 24, 1950, in Wabash County, to the late DeWayne and Margaret (Thompson) Clark. 

Pam married Thomas A. Reahard on June 29, 1968, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Wabash; he passed away on August 11, 2011.  She worked at Burger Chef and then worked and retired as the manager of Hardees in Wabash.  Pam loved antiquing, going to different shops and animals.  Most of all, Pam loved her family and spending time with her grandchildren.  

Pam is survived by three daughters, Tammy Reahard, of Wabash, Tonya (Evan) Hedrick, of Somerset, and Diane Norwood, of Wabash; two grandchildren, Baron Hedrick and Jasey Hedrick, both of Somerset; sisters, Linda Mallow, of Tipton and Dianna Worthy, of Wabash; and several nieces and nephews.  

Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 16, 2021, at McDonald Funeral Homes, 231 Falls Avenue, Wabash, Indiana 46992 with Pastor David Phillips officiating.  Burial will follow at Mississinewa Memorial Cemetery.

Franklin B. Gressley, Jr.


Franklin B. "Frank" Gressley, Jr., 53, of Wabash, passed away at 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday, November 9, 2021, at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne.  He was born on December 23, 1967, in Wabash, to the late Franklin B. Gressley, Sr., and Patricia (Koon) Middleton.  

Frank worked as a self-employed painter.  Frank enjoyed working on mopeds and especially loved his children and grandchildren.  

Frank is survived by three sons, Bradley Gressley, Scott Kelley, and Steven Spears, all of Wabash; two daughters, Christy Spears and Stephanie Gressley-Bolinger, both of Wabash; fiancé, Angela A. Spears, of Wabash; five sisters, Sue Ann Combs, of Florida, Angie Sadler, of Lagro, Teresa Gressley and Sherry Prater, both of Wabash, and Pamela (Don) Shepherd, of Roann; and ten grandchildren.

Katherine R. Taylor


Katherine R. Taylor, 71, a lifetime resident of LaFontaine, passed away at 3:43 p.m. on Friday, October 22, 2021, at her residence.  She was born on October 26, 1949, in Marion, to the late Allen H. "Bud" and Charlotte (Murphy) Sailors.  

Katherine was a 1968 graduate of Southwood High School.  She married Fred Taylor on July 14, 1968. Katherine worked for several retail companies including, Reader's World in Marion and Primm Springs in Tennessee.  She attended Riverside Church in Marion.  Katherine loved her family and spending time with them was her favorite activity.

Katherine is survived by her husband, Fred Taylor, of LaFontaine; one son, Richard (Becky) Taylor, of LaFontaine; two daughters, Jennifer (Tony) Miller, of Marion, and Holly Taylor, of LaFontaine; three grandchildren, Trevor Allen Bailey, John Eugene Bailey and Spencer Robert Taylor; five great-grandchildren, T.I. Bailey, Ella Bailey, Lincoln Bailey, S.J. Taylor and Tristan Fowler; and one sister, Diana (Clarence) McNeeley, of LaFontaine.  She is preceded in death by two sisters.

Edna Mae Holderman


Edna Mae Holderman, 69, formerly of Marion, passed away at 12:30 p.m. on Friday, October 22, 2021, at Rolling Meadows Heath and Rehabilitation in LaFontaine.  She was born on September 12, 1952, in Linton, Indiana, to the late Phillip R. and Dorothy M. (Stanton) Shields.  Edna worked at Shirt Shed in Wabash.  

Edna is survived by, sister-in-law, Anna Shields, of Onward, Indiana; brother-in-law, Tom Eakright, of Wabash; nephew, Phillip (Ashley) Eakright, of Wabash; niece, Tristina Surine, of Fort Wayne; three grandchildren, Kaleb Bell, Julian Bell and Jacob Bell and several great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by two brothers, and one sister.

Burleigh Bittinger

Burleigh F. Bittinger, 68, of Fort Wayne and formerly of Gas City, Indiana, passed away at 7:55 p.m. on Wednesday, October 20, 2021, at Majestic Care in Fort Wayne.  He was born on May 21, 1953, in Pennsylvania, to the late Burleigh F. Bittinger, Sr. and Flora (Speck) Plumb.  

Burleigh married Diane J. Glover; she passed away on August 4, 2012.  Burleigh served in the United States Army, and he worked as a mechanic in Defiance, Ohio.  

Burleigh is survived by his brother, David (Karen) Plumb, of Wrentham, Massachusetts; and sister, Patricia Bittinger, of Fort Wayne, Indiana.

There will be a private graveside service at LaFontaine IOOF Cemetery.

Justin Cody Sturgill

Justin Cody Sturgill, 28, a lifetime resident of Wabash, passed away at 11:21 a.m. on Thursday, October 21, 2021, from injuries in an automobile accident.  He was born on August 5, 1993, in Wabash, to James Sturgill and Amanda Fierstos.

Justin was a 2012 graduate of Wabash High School and he attended Ivy Tech Community College.  He previously worked at Huntington Metals.  Justin loved skateboarding and video games.  Most especially, Justin loved his daughter, Harley. 

Justin is survived by his parents, James "Bo" (Lisa) Sturgill, of Wabash and Amanda (Phil) Fierstos, of Wabash; one daughter, Harley Sturgill, of Wabash; maternal grandmother, Cindy Stinson, of Wabash; maternal grandfather, John (Barb) Stinson, of Wabash; paternal grandmother, Judy Sturgill, of Logansport; and three brothers, James Sturgill, of Fort Wayne, Michael Hawkins, of Peru and Christopher Hawkins, of Wabash.

Ray Starr


Ray Starr, 64, of North Manchester, died at 10:43 p.m. on Saturday, October 16, 2021, at Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne.  He was born on July 27, 1957, in Kentucky, to Charles and Chattie (Hale) Harrell.

Ray married Stella Osborne on September 16, 1979.  He worked as a contractor at Atlas Building Services in Wabash and owned Starr Masonry & Restoration.  Ray was a member of the Apostolic Church of Wabash.  Ray loved watching football, but most of all, he loved spending time with his family.  

Ray is survived by his wife, Stella; mother, Chattie Harrell, of North Manchester, two sons, Jimmy Ray (Mandalin) Starr, and Andrew Allen (Jennifer) Starr, both of Wabash; one daughter, Stacey Cripe, of Peru; two brothers, Jimmie Starr and Garry Starr, both of Wabash; two sisters, Linda (Arthur) Hughes, of Wabash and Fay Starr, of North Manchester; and nine grandchildren, Gunnar Cripe, Reese Cripe, Magnolia Starr, Lillithe Starr, Nevaeh Starr, Grace Starr, Gage Starr, Chloe Isley and Bree Dials.

Lisa M. Robinson, 54, of Wabash, passed away on Friday, October 8, 2021, at her residence.  She was born on December 10, 1966, in Brooklyn, New York, to Peter and Alberta Clyne.  

Lisa was a graduate of Fremont High School in California and worked at Radiant Home Health Care in Fort Wayne. Lisa loved the ocean and being around water.  

Lisa is survived by daughter, Chelsie Salyers, of Wabash; her parents, Peter and Alberta Clyne, of Fremont, California; three brothers, Tony Clyne, Artie Clyne, both of Reno, Nevada, and Michael Clyne, of Texas; and one sister, Darcy Clyne, of Oakland, California.

Lucia L. Fierstos


Lucia L. Fierstos, 88, formerly of Somerset, passed away at 10:25 a.m., on October 11, 2021, at IU North Hospital in Indianapolis.  She was born on March 28, 1933, in Wabash County, to the late Elvin and Ida Lucille (Alman) Raver. 

Lucia was a 1951 graduate of Somerset High School.  She married Robert V. Fierstos on July 14, 1951; he passed away on October 10, 2018.  Lucia worked at General Tire in Wabash.  She also made Raggedy Ann dolls and sold them at Emma Lou's.  Lucia was a member of St. Bernard Catholic Church in Wabash and the Women's Auxiliary in Somerset.  Lucia was a very strong woman that loved life and especially her family. 

Lucia is survived by her son, Joseph Fierstos, of Elwood; daughters, Deborah (Charles) Whitcraft, Warsaw, and Susan Townsend, Sharpsville; six grandchildren, Matthew Fierstos, Tina Fierstos, Miranda Corl, Jon Whitcraft, Angela Townsend and Andrew Townsend; and 11 great-grandchildren.  She is preceded in death by two brothers and one great-grandson, Randy Goodwin. 

Mass of Christian Burial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, October 15, 2021 at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Wabash with Father Levi Nkwocha officiating. Graveside interment will follow at Mississinewa Memorial Cemetery.

Calling hours will be Thursday, October 14, 2021 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with Recitation of the Rosary at 7:00 p.m. at McDonald Funeral Home, 231 Falls Avenue, Wabash, Indiana 46992.

Robin Jay Davis


Robin Jay Davis, 68, of Lagro, passed away at 10:25 a.m. on Friday, October 1, 2021, at Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne.   He was born in New Castle, Indiana, on July 25, 1953, to the late Gilbert and Betty Davis.

Robin married Connie Ailes on November 8, 1998.  Robin worked construction and at semi repairs with Roberts Trucking until he retired.  Robin enjoyed spending time with his grandkids, fishing, roasting hot dogs, bonfires and going to the casino.

Robin is survived by his wife, Connie, of Lagro; daughter and son, Kristie (Troy) Bone, of Lagro and Adam (Kristen) Davis, of Vincennes; three stepsons, Mark (Wendy) Ailes, of Sweetser, Dannie Ailes, of Van Buren, and Lonnie (Elaina) Ailes, of Huntington County; five grandchildren, Derrick Bone, Hailey Bone, Mathew Davis, Tabi Davis and Kati Picou; five step-grandchildren, Jay Ailes, Curtis Morgan, Ashlynn Ailes, Josh Hileman and Cainan Ailes; three brothers and three sisters, Jerry (Lana) Davis, Jackie (Jerry) Hinkle, Connie Maynard, all of Fairmount, Dicky (Karen) Davis, of Georgia, Dean (Laura) Davis, of Arizona and Darlene Ice, of Arkansas; and several nieces and nephews.  Robin is preceded in death by two brothers, Doug Davis and Danny Davis; one sister, June Moulton; and one stepson, Lee McVay.

Fredrick K. "Bud" Arven


Fredrick K. "Bud" Arven, 92, of LaFontaine, passed away at 11:45 p.m. on Friday, October 1, 2021, at his residence.  He was born on August 11, 1929, in Argos, Indiana, to the late Helen (Arven) Wyckoff.  

Bud was a 1947 graduate of LaFontaine High School.  He married Sally Kendall on September 24, 1950. Bud served in the United States Army, from 1951 to 1952, during the Korean Conflict.  Bud graduated from Barber School, in Indianapolis, and worked as a barber for 30 years at the OK Barbershop in Wabash.  Bud then worked for over 16 years for Wabash County REMC, retiring in 1997.  He was a member of the LaFontaine Christian Church and the American Legion of Wabash, Post 15.  Bud loved to travel and most of all he loved his family.

Bud is survived by Sally, his loving wife of 71 years; one son, Brian K. Arven, of Wabash; three daughters, Teresa (Ralph) Skaggs, of Bluffton, Debra (Michael) McKillip, of Wabash and Jacalyn (Gary) Wilson, of Wabash; nine grandchildren, Michelle (Mitch) Snyder, Angie (Brian) Monaham, Nicole (Brian) Hoffman, Matt (Heidi) Skaggs, Brett (Lori) Skaggs, Trent (Heather) Skaggs, Abigail (Luke) Allen, Amelia (Steven) Siders and Derrick (Jenny) Wilson; and 20 great-grandchildren.  He is preceded in death by one infant son.

Eleonore K. Smith


Eleonore K. Smith, 87, of Wabash, passed away at 5:48 p.m. on Thursday, September 30, 2021, at her residence.  She was born on February 18, 1934, in Schweinfurt, Germany, to the late Johanne Mueller and Frieda V. Schaefer.

Eleonore married Forest E. Smith on June 11, 1967; he passed away on February 22, 2014.  She worked at GenCorp for 15 years.  Eleonore was a member of St. Bernard Catholic Church in Wabash and the Post 286 VFW Ladies Auxiliary of Wabash.

Eleonore is survived by two sons, Fred J. (Rose) Smith, of LaFontaine and Gerald Smith, of Wabash; one daughter, Kristl (Charles) Andrews, of Wabash; stepson, James E. (Jill) Smith, of Wabash; two brothers, Gerd (Karen) Mueller and Eduard (Rosie) Mueller, both of Wabash; 13 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.  She is preceded in death by one daughter, Betty Saunders, one great-grandchild, Luke Schneider and three brothers.  

An Oma Celebration will be held from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, October 8, 2021 at 1727 N 300 E., Lagro, Indiana 46941.

Paul R. Lewis


Paul R. Lewis, 81, of Wabash, passed away at 4:07 p.m. on Friday, September 24, 2021, at Wabash Parkview Hospital.  He was born on January 24, 1940 in Vanlear, Kentucky, to Clyde and Clara (Morgan) Lewis.  

Paul married Thelma Martin on August 10, 1991; Paul retired from General Tire in Wabash then worked for Yohe Reality in Wabash. He served in the United States Army. He attended Emanuel Free Will Baptist Church. He was a member of the Kentucky Cornel Association, Hanna Masonic Lodge in Wabash, and Shriner/Scottish Rite in Fort Wayne.

Paul is survived by his wife, Thelma, of Wabash; two daughters, Paula (Scott) Hunsberger, of Churubusco, Indiana and Erica (George) Gebhart of Albion, Indiana; one step son, Kenneth Music (Margot Morgan) of Peru, Indiana; and one step daughter, Rose (Douglas) Staats of Wabash. He is also survived by seven grandchildren. He is preceded in death by three brothers and three sisters and one step son Allen Music.

Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 29, 2021, at McDonald Funeral Homes, 231 Falls Avenue, Wabash, Indiana 46992 with Terry Hinds officiating.  Burial will be at Friends Cemetery.

Peggy married William E. Huddleston on August 22, 1953; he passed away on February 6, 2013.  Peggy was a homemaker and she enjoyed sewing.  She was also an avid bingo player. 

Peggy is survived by her son, William R. (Gwen) Huddleston, of North Manchester; daughter, Peggy Jo (Jeri) Huston, of Enterprise, Florida; one sister, Shirley Keaffaber, of Wabash; three grandchildren; Matt Huston, Joseph Huston, both of Florida and Katie Owens, of Wabash; two step-grandchildren, Trent Wagoner, of Silver Lake and Carrie Brewer, of North Manchester; seven great-grandchildren and several step-great-grandchildren.  She is preceded in death by two brothers, George Middleton and Howard Middleton; and one sister, Roselyn Urschel.

Janet Ross, 95, a lifetime resident of Wabash, passed away at 6:50 a.m. on Friday, September 17, 2021, at Peabody Retirement Home in North Manchester.  She was born on May 4, 1926, in Wabash, to the late Von and Eunice (Ply) Kreps.

Janet married Thomas E. Ross on February 11, 1955; he passed away on April 24, 2015.  She worked at General Tire in Wabash.  Janet was a member of Christ United Methodist Church in Wabash.

Janet is survived by one son, Richard (Rebecca) Hawley, of Huntington; three grandchildren, Amy (Donald) Pyatt, of Warren, Aaron Hawley, of Huntington, and Anna (Caleb) Harper, of Oklahoma City; and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one son, Daniel K. Hawley, one grandson, Daniel Hawley and her first husband, Richard E. Hawley.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 17, 2021 at Matlock Cemetery in Wabash County.

Joshua Robert Coon


Joshua Robert Coon, 40, a lifetime resident of Wabash, passed away at 3:30 a.m. on Thursday, September 16, 2021.  He was born on January 19, 1981, in Wabash, to Kevin and Monica (Schipper) Coon. 

Josh was a 2000 graduate of Wabash High School.  He married Nicole S. Sanson on July 7, 2012.  Josh worked at Kroger in Wabash.  He was the current Governor and President of the Wabash Moose Lodge #1195, and a member of the Monday and Wednesday night bowling league.  

Josh was an avid WWE wrestling fan and Tampa Buccaneers fan; he especially loved watching Tom Brady play.  Josh was a spontaneous man, who loved to go on adventures with his wife, Nicole and his family.  Josh didn't know a stranger and treated everyone the same.  Most of all, Josh's passion and love was for his wife, his entire family and his dog, Gigi.  

Josh is survived by his loving wife, Nicole Coon, of Wabash; daughter, Allie Coon, of Wabash; parents, Kevin and Monica Coon, of Wabash; grandson, Sawyer James Reagle; sister, Jamie Coon, of Wabash; nephew, Trey Coon, of Wabash; and aunt, Diane Pratesi, of Clearwater, Florida.
