Peggy L. Drook

Peggy L. Drook, 73, of Wabash, passed away at 5:30 a.m. on Saturday, January 25, 2020 at her residence.  She was born in Marion, Indiana on August 7, 1946, to the late Alva & Verda (Hiatt) Manning.  
Peggy was a 1964 graduate of Southwood High School.  She married John H. Drook on January 31, 1964; he passed away on December 16, 2004.  Peggy worked as a pharmacy technician at the Wabash County Hospital and Walgreens in Wabash.  She also worked as a homemaker taking care of her family.  Peggy was a member of St. Matthews United Church of Christ.  She was active with the Policeman's wives' group.  
Peggy was an avid Chicago Cubs, Chicago Bears and Purdue Boilermakers fan.  Peggy lived for taking care and being with her family.  She greatly enjoyed following her grandchildren's, Tyler and Bryce, baseball games.  
Peggy is survived by one son, Andrew (Paula) Drook, of Marietta, Georgia; one daughter, Deann (Todd) Hill, of Wabash; grandchildren, Tyler (Jenna) Drook, of Wabash, Paige Hill, of Wabash; Bryce Hill, of Wabash; Marin (Caleb) Coffman, of Sedalia, Colorado, John Drook, Jerald Drook and Jacob Drook, all of Marietta, Georgia; one great-grandchild, Pryor Drook, of Wabash; brother, Danny (Edna) Manning, of Wabash; sisters, Sally Cruzen, of Fort Worth, Texas and Connie Smith, of Lagro; her cairn terrier and constant companion, Wrigley.  She was preceded in death by her husband, brother, Donald " Skip" Manning and sister, Bonnie Tucker.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 29, 2020 at McDonald Funeral Home, 231 Falls Avenue, Wabash, Indiana 46992 with Pastor Richard Olson officiating.  Burial will follow at St. Peters Cemetery in Urbana.  
Visitation for family and friends will be from 2:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 28, 2020 at the funeral home.

Walt Ansel



Walt Ansel, 71, of Wabash, passed away at 4:40 p.m. on Thursday, January 23, 2020 at Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne, Indiana.  He was born in Floyd County, Kentucky on August 17, 1948, to Bud Delbert and Dussie (Perry) Ansel.

Walt married Karla on July 4, 1996. He retired from General Tire after 25 years. He also worked as a janitor for MJV- Econoclean. He was a member of the Eagles Lodge.

Walt is survived by his wife; Karla, two sons; Craig David Ansel and Mike Venosky of Wabash, Indiana; one daughter, Melissa Jeane Rigle (Tony) of Peru, Indiana; two step-sons, Brian (Ashley) Hults of Mt. Juliet, Tennessee and Jeff Hults of Wabash, Indiana; four brothers, Ray (Janet) Jacobs of Wabash, Indiana, Dennis (Ruthann) Ansel of Indinapolis, Indiana, Jr. Ansel and Charles Chaffin of Wabash, Indiana. two sisters; Mrs. Fred Alieen Wishman of Wabash, Indiana and Shirley Johnson(Carl) of Dema, Kentucky. five grandchildren, Vaughn (Jen) Ansel, Brandon (Brittany) Wilkinson, Madison Venosky, Ian Ansel, Coty Black, Kaycee Williams, Jimi Hults, Christian Rutz, Philip Hults, and Elena Hults and ten great-grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by one brother and two sisters.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 26, 2020 at McDonald Funeral Home 231 Falls Ave. Wabash, Indiana 46992, with Pastor Tim Webb officiating

Visitation for family and friends will be two hours prior to the funeral service starting at 12:00 p.m., at the funeral home.

Preferred memorials are to the Wabash County Animal Shelter.

Mary F. Carpenter

Mary F. Carpenter, 90, a lifetime resident of Wabash, Indiana, passed away at 4:07 p.m., on Sunday, January 12, 2020 at Parkview Randallia Hospital in Fort Wayne.  She was born on August 12, 1929, in Wabash, to the late Hubert and Lenore (King) Miller.  

Mary was a 1947 graduate from Wabash High School.  She married Lacy Carpenter on July 26, 1947.  He passed away on December 10, 2016.  Mary worked for many years at the City Meat Market.  Mary loved sewing and quilting.  She also loved playing cards, especially euchre.  

Mary is survived by two daughters, Dianne (Craig) Pankop, of Seneca, South Carolina and Janice (Chris) Perkins of Council Bluffs, Iowa; nine grandchildren, Scott France, Brandon France, Ashley Pankop, Travis Carpenter, Courtney Steagall, Shelby Hirshburg, Nicole Carpenter, Joseph Perkins and Sydney James; 22 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. Mary was preceded in death by one son, Terry Carpenter; one daughter, Karen France and one brother.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, January 16, 2020 at McDonald Funeral Home, 231 Falls Avenue, Wabash, Indiana 46992 with Pastor David Phillips as the officiant.  Burial will follow at Falls Cemetery in Wabash.  

Visitation for family and friends will be one hour prior to the funeral service starting at 9:30 a.m. at the funeral home.

James Earl Hostetler

James Earl "Jim" Hostetler, 79, of Wabash, passed away at 5:32 p.m. on Friday, January 3, 2020 at Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne, Indiana.  He was born on July 11, 1940, in Peru, Indiana to the late Harold A. and Esther V. (Loe) Hostetler.

Jim was a 1958 graduate of Peru High School.  He married Beverly Jean Randall on March 17, 1963.  Jim served in the National Guard.  He was a foreman and manager at Dataview Products for 25 years.  Jim then retired after 25 years of service, as a manager of the print shop, from Bowling Promotions.  Jim also was a co-owner and worked at the family business, Jones U-Haul in Wabash.  

Jim was an avid sports fan especially of basketball and baseball.  He coached local Little League and Babe Ruth Leagues.  He also had a passion for bowling and fishing.  

Jim was member of First United Methodist Church in Wabash.  He was a member of the Wabash Moose Lodge #1195 and the American Legion Post 15 of Wabash.  

Jim is survived by his wife of 56 years, Beverly; son, John (Angel) Hostetler, of Wabash; daughter, Julie Hughes, of Wabash; six grandchildren, Austin M. Hostetler, Devin M. Hostetler, Kiersten J. Cole, Landon T. Cole, Mason J. Hostetler and Nicholas D. Hostetler; great-grandson, Keenan J. Cole; brother, Donald R. Hostetler, of Huntington, Indiana; two sisters, Nancy Hall, of Peru and Dixie (Joe) Trinkle, of Logansport.  He was preceded in death by one son, Michael James Hostetler; one brother, Norman Hostetler; one sister, Linda Lou Hostetler and brother-in-law, Oscar Hall. 

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 9, 2020 at McDonald Funeral Home, 231 Falls Avenue, Wabash, Indiana 46992.  Pastor John Cook will be the officiant. Burial will follow at Friends Cemetery in Wabash.

Calling Hours will be from 2:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 8, 2020 at the funeral home.

Preferred memorials are to the Cannonball YABA Kids Bowling or the Wabash Little League.
