Glenn L. Reed

Glenn L. Reed, 88, of Wabash, passed away at 7:02 a.m., on Sunday, April 28, 2019, at Parkview Wabash Hospital.  He was born on November 22, 1930, in North Manchester, Indiana to the late John C. and Elizabeth (Flor) Reed.  

Glenn married Bonnie Hamilton on May 9, 1954.  He served in the United States Army.  Afterwards, he worked as a mechanic for John Richards and Oswalt & Thomas, both of Wabash.  Glenn was a member of Treaty Church of Christ.  

Glenn is survived by his wife, Bonnie; four sons, John (Teresa) Reed, of Laketon, Timothy Reed, of Wabash, Steven Reed, of Wabash and Jeff Reed, of Peru; three daughters, Glenna (Kay) Reed, of Columbia City, Linda (Jeffery) Ritter, of Wabash and Peggy Sue Kendall, of Peru; sisters, Rosie Campbell, of Wabash and Carol (Johnny) Fike, of Florida; 24 grandchildren and 35 great-grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by daughter, Luann Reed, granddaughter, Stacy Cox, five brothers and two sisters.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 2, 2019 at McDonald Funeral Home, 231 Falls Avenue, Wabash, Indiana  46992.  Burial will follow immediately at Friends Cemetery, Wabash.  Viewing hours will be two hours prior to the funeral service, on May 2, 2019, from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m.

Ervin E. Hahn

Ervin E. Hahn 86, of North Manchester, Indiana is now residing in the peaceful Garden of Heaven after a valiant fight against cancer. Ervin was born on November 8, 1932 to Ervin Hahn and Ruth (Wagoner) Hahn; both are deceased.

Ervin was raised as a farm boy in Huntington County, Indiana.  Ervin graduated from Monument City High School. He served in the United States Army for 2 years and served in the Korean War. He worked as a Pipefitter at Wabash General Tire for 35 years.

Ervin loved to travel and fish.  He also enjoyed working on his antique tractors. Ervin was a kind and loving family man. Always ready to help out. He loved life and will be greatly missed by his family and many friends.

He married Bonnie S. Caley and had 5 children, Terry (Debbie) Hahn of Bluffton, Indiana; Beverly (Daryl) Schindler of Frankfort, Indiana; Roger (Shannon) Hahn of Huntington, Indiana; Jim (Nicole) Hahn of Andrews, Indiana; Shari (Brian) Bilyeu of Wabash, Indiana.

Ervin later divorced and married Rosita Ford/Hahn. He has 3 step-children Joanna and Larry Ellars of Wabash, Indiana; Judy and Eddie Sours of Warrington, VA; and Fred and Beth Ford of Lagro, Indiana. He has 21 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandson.   

There will be no services per Ervin’s request.  A private family graveside service will be held at Gardens of Memory Cemetery in Marion, Indiana.  Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to McDonald Funeral Home, 231 Falls Avenue, Wabash, Indiana 46992.

Adam Thomas Roberts

Adam T. Roberts, 76, of Wabash, passed away at 7:10 p.m., on Wednesday, April 24, 2019, at his residence.  He was born in Knoxville, Tennessee, on August 14, 1942, to the late Mack Eugene and Ruth (Holbrook Thomas) Roberts.  In 1950, Adam and his family moved to Tipton, Indiana, where he grew up.  He married Beula Mitchell Himes on July 3, 1972 in Richmond, Indiana and eventually, the family, moved to Wabash, Indiana.  

Adam worked as a engineer for various railroads, including Conrail, for over twenty years.  He retired, in 1998, after an injury. 

Adam loved hunting, fishing, camping and boating.  He also loved to work in the yard and garden and tinker with cars.  But most of all, he loved his cats!  

Adam is survived by his wife, Beula; three sons, Michael D. (Mary) Roberts, of Denver, Indiana, Rory F. "Fred" Himes, of Wabash, and Nathan R. (Virginia) Himes, of Muncie; three daughters, Yolanda (Dean Brubaker) Brinkert, of Andrews, Anna M. (Michael Baker) Barr, of Wabash and Junita F. (James) Howard, of Hampton, Iowa; 15 grandchildren, Benjamin and Kayla, Jerod and Staci, Krissy and Kacy, Aaron and Britany, Candis and Mike, Alex and Hali, Haley and Austin, Brenton, Rhea and Jonathon, Heather, Amanda and Stephen, Stephani and Reese, Zack, Jessica and Ashley; 16 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by one son, Joseph Alan Roberts; granddaughter, Ashley Nicole Himes; three brothers and two sisters.

A memorial service will be held, at the home of his youngest daughter, Anna Barr, at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 11, 2019, at 3663 S. 725 W. Peru, Indiana 46970. 

Arrangements have been entrusted to McDonald Funeral Home, 231 Falls Avenue, Wabash, IN  46992.

Jerry Joe Elliott

Jerry Joe Elliott, 74, a lifetime resident of Wabash, passed away at 3:45 p.m., on Saturday, April 13, 2019, Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne, Indiana.  He was born in Wabash on June 9, 1944 to the late Joseph W. and Maxine (Kerr) Elliott.  He married Sandra (Woodward) Elliott on March 17, 1992.

Jerry was a graduate of Wabash High School.  He was a United States Army veteran and lifetime member of the American Legion Post #15 and the Eagles Lodge Post #549.

Jerry is survived by his wife Sandra Elliott; son, Todd (Tina) Elliott; daughter, Kelly Tran; step-daughter, Kristie (Troy) Bone; step-sons, Cory Woodward, Chris (Tabby) Rowe, and Adam Davis; grandchildren, Senior Airman Derrick Bone, Colin Elliott, Luke Elliott, Lance Corporal Mathew Davis, Chad Elliott, Drayton Rowe, Christoper Rowe, Dakota Rowe, Gage Rowe, Ian Rowe, Hailey Bone, Brooke Elliott, Samantha Woodward, Brittany Woodward, Tabi Davis, and Bella Rowe. 

Calling hours for family and friends will be from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 17, 2019 at McDonald Funeral Home, 231 Falls Avenue, Wabash, Indiana 46992.  Graveside services with military honors will be held at Memorial Lawns Cemetery, in Wabash, at 11:00 a.m., on Thursday, April 18, 2019.

Catherine Marie Proffitt















Catherine Marie Proffitt passed away on March 20, 2019 at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne.  Her family was at her side.

She was born on July 13, 1949 to John E. and Mary Ellen (Titus) Kerr. She married Dennis Proffitt on May 22, 1982.

Since 2007, Cathy worked as a cashier at Kroger's Grocery Store.  She lived all her life in Wabash. Cathy enjoyed cross-stitch, which she gave many of her cross-stitch products to her family.  Cathy was known by many people.  She was always described as, "one of the nicest persons, I ever met." She was admired for her compassion for her family and friends.  Her greatest treasure was her granddaughters, Ellie and Avery Proffitt.  She was so proud of her son, John and his family.

Cathy is survived by Dennis Proffitt; son, John (Kari) Proffitt; her granddaughters; her sister, Corinne (Jim) Wesco; her niece, Angie (Anthony) Discordia; three great nieces and one great nephew, and two great-great nieces; all of whom live in Wabash.  She was preceded in death by her parents. 

There will be no services per Cathy's request.  A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Alan Douglas Meyer

Alan Douglas Meyer, 65, passed away at 11:45 a.m. on Tuesday, April 9, 2019, at Miller's Merry Manor in Huntington, Indiana.  He was born, in Wabash, on March 23, 1954, to Everett and A. Eileen (Haymond) Meyer.

Alan is survived by his niece, Eileen (Robert) Meyer Sklar of North Manchester.  He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, David Clinton Meyer.

There will be no funeral services.  A private family burial will be held at Falls Cemetery in Wabash.  Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to McDonald Funeral Home, 231 Falls Avenue, Wabash, Indiana 46992.
