Wayne L. "Doc" Hansen

Wayne L. "Doc" Hansen, 74, of Wabash, passed away at 5:40 a.m. on Saturday, March 16, 2019 at Parkview Wabash Hospital. He was born on February 18, 1945 in Milton, Indiana to the late Clyde and Frances (Murley) Hansen.  

Doc married JoAnn Weida on October 19, 1991.  He worked as a mechanic at Dorais Chevrolet and then retired from Kirtlan Automotive, both of Wabash. Doc was a member of the NSRA Car Club and a former member of the NHRA.  Doc truly loved his family and was an avid admirer of cars. 

Doc is survived by his wife, JoAnn, of Wabash; son, Robert Hansen, of Tennessee; daughters, Terri Hansen, of Kokomo and Barbara (Elmer) Bonewitz, of North Manchester; step-son, Dennis "Eddie" Shoemaker, of Wabash; grandchildren, Drew Eltzroth, Dereck Eltzroth, Casey Wyatt and Robbie Hansen; sister, Rose Ann Hudson, of Milton and Toby, his shitzhu and best friend.  He was preceded in death by one step-daughter, Denise Lewis and one brother.  

Calling hours for family and friends will be from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, March 22, 2019 at McDonald Funeral Home, 231 Falls Avenue, Wabash, Indiana 46992. There will be no funeral services.

Preferred memorials are to the Wabash County Cancer Society or the Wabash County Animal Shelter.

Leonel Edward "Pete" Duhamell

Leonel Edward "Pete" Duhamell, of Wabash, passed away at 12:55 a.m. on Tuesday, March 12, 2019 at Peabody Retirement Community in North Manchester, Indiana. He was 86 years old.

Pete was born on February 19, 1933 in Huntington County, Indiana to the late Elmer H. and Mary (Waters) Duhamell.  He was a 1951 graduate of Urbana High School.  Pete married Phyllis "Elaine" Francis Haynes on February 20, 1953. She passed away on July 4, 2017.  

Pete served in the United States Army from 1955 to 1957.  Afterwards, he worked at Diehl Machines for forty years.  He retired as a consultant for STS in Vermont. Pete was a member of Christ United Methodist Church.

Pete enjoyed playing bingo and playing cards.  He loved being with his family and grandchildren.

Pete is survived by three sons, Randy (Cathy) Duhamell, of Lagro, Keith (Patti) Duhamell, of Wabash, and Jeff (Rhonda) Duhamell, of Wabash; Two daughters, Nancy (Gary) Devore, of Wabash, and Linda (Kevin) Bruss, of Warsaw; sister, Doris Haupert, of Auburn; Twelve grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by daughter, Debra Diane Duhamell, in 1953; great-grandchild, Aden Shoue, two brothers and three sisters.

Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 16, 2019 at McDonald Funeral Home, 231 Falls Ave., Wabash, Indiana 46992.  Entombment will be at Memorial Lawns Cemetery, Wabash, Indiana.

Visitation for family and friends will be from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, March 15, 2019 at the funeral home.

Preferred Memorials are to the Riley Children’s Hospital, Indianapolis, Indiana.

Adrian D. Anderson

Adrian Daniel Anderson, 34, of Wabash, passed away on March 5, 2019 in Daytona Beach, Florida.  He was born in Wabash on October 6, 1984 to Daniel Anderson and Christina (Dayton) Anderson.  

Adrian is survived by his parents; two sons, Matthew Anderson, of Wabash, and Zachary Smith, of Fort Wayne; daughter, Angel Anderson, of Wabash; brother, Sterling Martindale, of Wabash; and maternal grandmother, Jennifer Dayton, of Wabash.  Adrian was preceded in death by sister, Duranda Anderson, grandparents, Paul and Charlene Anderson and Paul Edwards; and by cousin, Mallori Kastner.

Calling hours for friends and family will be from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 9, 2019 at McDonald Funeral Home, 231 Falls Avenue, Wabash, Indiana 46992.

Rodney W. "Rod" King

Rodney W. "Rod" King, 48, passed away on Tuesday, March 5, 2019 at Parkview Randallia Hospital in Fort Wayne, Indiana.  He was born on March 2, 1971 to William and Joyce (Richards) King in Wabash. 

Rod served in the United States Army and was a part of Operation Desert Storm.  He worked at the Bank of Oklahoma as a branch manager. Rod served as Boy Scout leader and was a member of the American Legion in Oklahoma.  He was an avid Oklahoma Sooners fan.

Rod is survived by his parents; one son, Reese W. King, of Ponca City, Oklahoma; two daughters, Bailey N. King and Morgan L. King, both of Ponca City, Oklahoma and three brothers, Kenny King, Jimmy King, both of Wabash and Kaleb Wilson of Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, March 11, 2019 at McDonald Funeral Home, LaFontaine Chapel, 104 South Main Street, LaFontaine, Indiana 46940 with Pastor Walter Couch officiating. Burial will follow at the Marion National Cemetery, 1700 East 38th Street, Marion, Indiana.  Friends and family may call one hour prior to the start of the funeral service at the funeral home. 

Preferred memorials are to the American Diabetes Association.

Jan W. Bachman

Jan W. Bachman, 74, of Marion, Indiana, passed away at 2:00 a.m. on Sunday, March 3, 2019.  Jan was born in Hamilton, Ohio on October 10, 1944 to the late Paul A. and Frances (Sauer) Bachman.
Jan was a 1962 graduate of Ross High School and a 1967 graduate of GMI with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. He retired as a Supervisor in the Maintenance Department from General Motors in Marion after forty-six years of service.   
Jan married Sandra M. Eastman on December 18, 1965. He was a member of the LaFontaine Christian Church and the Converse Masonic Lodge #601.  Jan loved to restore antique tractors and helping family and friends with building projects.  Jan was a devoted father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
Jan is survived by his wife, Sandra; three sons, Jon A. (Denise) Bachman, Matthew W. Bachman, both of Marion, and Mark W. (Barbara) Bachman of Murfreesboro, TN; two brothers, Jack L. Bachman, of Arkansas and Jay L. (Dorie) Bachman, of Cincinnati, Ohio; eight grandchildren, Jenna Emler, Ashley MacMillan, Joshua Bachman, Jaylon Bachman, Darianne Ortega, Andrew Bachman, Benjamin Bachman and Jacob Cromas; and eight great-grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his daughter, Carrie Abbott. 
Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, March 8, 2019 at LaFontaine Christian Church, 202 Bruner Pike, LaFontaine, IN  46940 with Pastor Brad Wright officiating.  Burial will follow immediately at LaFontaine IOOF Cemetery.  Calling hours will be on Thursday, March 7, 2019 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at LaFontaine Christian Church.

George L. Lafferty

George L Lafferty, 77, of Wabash, passed away at 5:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 28, 2019.  He was born in Prestonburg, Kentucky on March 2, 1941 to Ashland Lafferty and Martha (Gray) Lafferty.
George worked at Wabash Alloys for many years and retired from there.  
George is survived by his wife Betty Lafferty; son Curtis Lafferty, of Wabash; daughter, Sherri Lafferty, of Wabash; a sister, Shirley Blair of Prestonburg, Kentucky; Nephews, Jackie Woods and Luke Woods, of Prestonburg, Kentucky; Niece, Sherry Cambern, of Wabash; and 5 grandchildren.  He is preceded in death by 1 brother and 1 sister.

Maxine Novak

Maxine Novak, a lifetime resident of Wabash, passed away on Wednesday, Feb 27, 2019 at Rolling Meadows Health & Rehabilitation. She was born on April 26, 1923 to Jake and Ada (Burnworth) Kerr.  

She married Joseph W. Elliott in 1939; he passed away in 1970. Then she married Leonard Novak; he also preceeded her in death. Maxine retired from Vernon Manor Health Care. She was a member of the Eagles Lodge 549 Golden Eagle and of the American Legion Post 15 Auxillary in Wabash, Indiana.  

Maxine is survived by her son, Jerry (Sandy) Elliott of Wabash, Indiana; 5 grandchildren; and 9 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her Parents, 1 son; Kenneth Elliott, 1 brother and 2 sisters.

There will be no services. Arrangements are entrusted to McDonald Funeral Home in Wabash, Indiana.
