Wayne "Bear" Smith

Wayne "Bear" Smith, 77, of rural Wabash, Indiana passed away at 12:51 p.m. on Saturday, December 17, 2016 at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne, Indiana. He was born to the late Estel and Stella (Osborne) Smith on January 8, 1939 in Hite, Kentucky.

He graduated from Martin High School in Martin, Kentucky. Wayne married Connie Manning on October 5, 1984, she survives. He retired from Container Corporation in Wabash, Indiana. Wayne was a member of Lincolnville United Methodist Church.

Along with his wife, Connie; Wayne is survived by sons, John Adkins (Jamie) of Lagro, Indiana, Doug Smith (Tina) of Wabash, Indiana, and Jim Smith of Wabash, Indiana; daughters, Sheryll Ulshafer (Dave) of Wabash, Indiana and Robin Cook (Greg) of Andrews, Indiana; brothers, Ronald Smith (Mary Jane) of West Milton, Ohio, Estel Smith (Cathy) of Hagerhill, Kentucky, and James Jimmy Rederick (Sandy) of Martin, Kentucky; sister, Marlene Stumbo of Ivel, Kentucky; nine grandchildren, Tanya Smith, Chad Smith, Cory Shenefield, Derek Shenefield, Rebecca Roberts, Miranda Adkins, Kristopher Black, Kayla Black, and Joe Futrell; and several great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by a grandson, Jason Futrell.

Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, December 22, 2016 at McDonald Funeral Home, 231 Falls Avenue, Wabash, Indiana 46992, with Rev. Melissa Rice officiating. Burial will follow at St. Peters Cemetery in Urbana, Indiana. Preferred memorials are directed to Lincolnville United Methodist Church or Leukemia Association.

Linda K. Warren

Linda K. Warren, 72, of Wabash, Indiana passed away at 11:30 p.m. on Sunday, December 11, 2016 at Autumn Ridge Rehabilitation Centre in Wabash, Indiana. She was born on March 17, 1944 in Wabash, Indiana to the late Frank and Martha (McDonald) Warren.

She worked at the Holiday Inn in Wabash, Indiana. Linda was a member of the Apostolic Church in Wabash, Indiana.
Linda is survived by a brother, Danny Warren (Daisy) of Chesapeake, Ohio; sister, Ethel Christian of Houston, Texas; and several nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews. She was preceded in death by a brother, James; sisters, Catherine, Martha, Shirley, Rena, and Anna.

Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, December 15, 2016 at McDonald Funeral Home, 231 Falls Avenue, Wabash, Indiana 46992, with Rev. Richard King officiating. Burial will be held at a later date.

Lacy Carpenter

Lacy Carpenter, 91, of Wabash, Indiana passed away at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, December 10, 2016 at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne, Indiana. He was born to the late John and June (Minnix) Carpenter on February 16, 1925 in Paintsville, Kentucky.

He served his country in the United States Army. Lacy married Mary Miller on July 26, 1947 in North Manchester, Indiana, she survives. He retired from Wabash Container Corporation in 1987, after 40 years. He was a member of the American Legion Post 15 of Wabash, Indiana. Lacy was an avid fisherman, a hard worker, and loved his family.

Along with his wife, Mary; daughters survive him, Mrs. Dianne (Craig) Pankop of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma and Mrs. Janice (Chris) Perkins of Council Bluffs, Iowa; brother, Carl Carpenter (Myrt) of Newburg, Indiana; nine grandchildren, twenty great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild. Lacy is preceded in death by a son, Terry Carpenter, daughter, Karen France, six brothers, and five sisters.

Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, December 14, 2016 at McDonald Funeral Home, 231 Falls Avenue, Wabash, Indiana 46992, with Pastor Brad Wright officiating. Burial will follow in the Falls Cemetery in Wabash, Indiana. Preferred memorials are directed to Military Honors Program- American Legion Post 15 Local, 188 W. Market Street, Wabash, Indiana 46992 and VFW Post 286, 3678 W. Old 24, Wabash, Indiana 46992.

Harry W. Turner

Harry W. Turner, 84, of rural Wabash, Indiana passed away at 9:45 a.m. on Friday, December 9, 2016 at Wellbrooke of Wabash in Wabash, Indiana. He was born to the late Wilbur and Laura (Smith) Turner on January 29, 1932 in Marion, Indiana.

Harry served his country in the United States Army. He married Darlene Holtsclaw on January 29, 1954, she survives. Harry was affiliated with Mt. Olive United Methodist Church in Marion, Indiana. He was a member of Van Buren American Legion in Van Buren, Indiana. Harry retired from Dana Corporation in Marion, Indiana.

Along with his wife, Darlene; a son survives him, Neal A. Turner (Jill) of Morristown, Indiana; two daughters, Mrs. Cindy (Robert) Veverka of Pella, Iowa and JoAnn Stephens of Wabash, Indiana; sister in law, Carol Turner of Wabash, Indiana; seven grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. Harry is preceded in death by two brothers, Francis Dean and William R. Turner.

Funeral service will be held at 12 noon on Tuesday, December 13, 2016 at McDonald Funeral Home, LaFontaine Chapel, 104 S. Main Street, LaFontaine, Indiana 46940, with Rev. Rob Barton officiating. Burial will follow in the Emery Cemetery in LaFontaine, Indiana 46940.

Charles Edwin Stodgell

Charles Edwin Stodgell, 74, of rural Marion, Indiana passed away at 5:15 a.m. on Monday, December 5, 2016 at Marion General Hospital in Marion, Indiana. Charles was born in Miami County to the late Okla (Sommers) and Clayton Stodgell on February 25, 1942.

He graduated from Clay High School in 1960. Charles was a U.S. Army and National Guard Veteran. He married Shirley (Glover) Stodgell on July 4, 1964. Charles was a pipefitter for 40 years eventually retiring from General Motors in Kokomo, Indiana. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and was a devoted Christian. He was a member of Brinker Heights Wesleyan Church in Marion, Indiana.

Charles is survived by his wife, Shirley; son Charlie; six grandchildren, Julie, Drew, Zachary, Jonathan, Emily and Harlow; three great grandchildren, Cambria, Anna, and James; also surviving are two brothers Conrad and Jack; and a sister, Beverly.  Charles was preceded in death by his mother, father, step-father, and a sister.

Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, December 8, 2016 at McDonald Funeral Home, LaFontaine Chapel, 104 S. Main Street, LaFontaine, Indiana 46940, with Rev. Harvey Herring and Rev. Aldean Pablo officiating. Burial will follow at the LaFontaine IOOF Cemetery in LaFontaine, Indiana.
