Joyce A. Bland

Joyce A. Bland, 61, of Wabash, Indiana passed away at 10:55 p.m. on Wednesday, May 28, 2014 at her home. She was born to Russell Smith of Wabash, Indiana and the late Nellie (Ward) Smith on December 24, 1952 in State of Washington.
She married Terry W. Bland Sr. on July 18, 1980, he survives. She worked at Martin Yale in Wabash, Indiana. Joyce was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post 15, Moose Lodge #1195, and Eagles Lodge all of Wabash, Indiana.
She is also survived by two daughters, Mrs. Tim (Carla) Waters of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and Gina Gray of Wabash, Indiana; step daughter, Angelina of Florida; step son, Terry Bland Jr. of Huntington, Indiana; four brothers, Eugene Smith and Norman Smith (Angie) both of Laketon, Indiana, Ronnie Smith (Mary) of Peru, Indiana, and Robin Smith (Diane) of Fort Wayne, Indiana; three sisters, Violet Smith of Wabash, Indiana, Mrs. Matt (Loretta) Brodrick of Lagro, Indiana, and Gertrude Smith Wabash, Indiana; twelve grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Calling hours will be from 2 p.m. until 6 p.m. on Monday, June 2, 2014 at McDonald Funeral Home, 231 Falls Avenue, Wabash, Indiana 46992. Burial will be at Memorial Lawns Cemetery at a later date. Russell A. "Rusty" "Russ" Johnson

Russell A. “Rusty” “ Russ” Johnson, 93, of Wabash, Indiana, passed away at 4 a.m. on Thursday, May 22, 2014, at Wellbrooke of Wabash. He was born to the late Rex and Alta (AcMoody) Johnson on May 4, 1921, in Millersburg, Michigan.
 
Russell served his country in the United States Navy, during WWII. He married Arleava M. Snapp on May 5, 1943. She passed away on April 24, 2006. Russell began his work life at Rock Wool of Wabash, Indiana. He also worked as a millwright for Container Corporation, a carpenter for J.W. Lewis, owner of Johnson Builders, all of Wabash. He was an avid beekeeper, and a tomato farmer. Russell was a member of the Wabash Christian Church in Wabash, Indiana, and served as a Deacon and Board Member. Also he was a member of the American Legion Post 15, Bow-Hunters Association, Indiana Beekeepers Association, and a chartered member of the BPOE #471 Wabash Elks Lodge all of Wabash, Indiana. Russell was a nature lover, mushroom hunter, and really enjoyed hunting, trapping, and fishing.
He is survived by a daughter, Sharon Johnson-Smith, of New Haven, Indiana; two grandchildren, Serena Smith, M.D. of Grand Junction, Colorado, and Michael Barcher of Las Vegas, Nevada; and two great grandchildren, Shawn Michael Cory and Matthew Russell Cory. Russell was also preceded in death by three brothers, Louis, Eugene, and Harold Johnson and three sisters, Doretha, Margurite, and Vivian; and a great grandson, Zachary Smith.
A Celebration of Life will be at 2 p.m. on Saturday, June 7, 2014, at McDonald Funeral Home, 231 Falls Avenue, Wabash, Indiana 46992, with Rev. Melinda Kammerer officiating. Burial will be at a later date at Memorial Lawns Cemetery in Wabash, Indiana.
Visitation for family and friends will be from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials are directed to Community Foundation of Wabash County, 218 E. Marie A. Coldren

Marie A. Coldren, 72, LaFontaine, Indiana passed away at 6:55 a.m. on Thursday, May 22, 2014 at her home. She was born to the late Paul Herman and Mary Helen (Bennett) Schafer on October 29, 1941 in Wabash, Indiana.
She retired from General Tire after 37 years. She is survived by three sons, Gregory Paul Raver of LaFontaine, Indiana, Timothy Jay Raver (Melissa) of Queen Creek, Arizona, and Kevin Keith Raver (Tammy) of Coffeyville, Kansas; brother, Don Lorn Schafer of Quincy, Illinois; Mrs. Jack (Martha Louise) Kaufman of Bluffton, Indiana and Mrs. Steve (Patricia Lynn) Schoda of Churubusco, Indiana; eight grandchildren and three great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother, David Paul Schafer.
Private family services will be held, with burial in the LaFontaine IOOF Cemetery in LaFontaine, Indiana. McDonald Funeral Home, LaFontaine Chapel 104 S. Jesse "Jack" M. Miller

Jesse "Jack" M. Miller, 97, passed away at 2:11 a.m. on Wednesday, May 14, 2014 at Peabody Retirement Community in North Manchester, Indiana. He was born to the late H. Vern and J. Gladys (Craig) Miller on May 20, 1916 in  Silver Lake, Indiana.  
He married Beatrice Altemar on June 26, 1948, she survives. He retired from General Tire after 43 years, then worked at the Wabash County Museum for 14 years. He was a United States Naval Veteran. He was a former member of Wabash Christian Church.  
He is also survived by a son, Bruce R. Miller. He is preceded in death by a son. 
Memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, May 21, 2014 at Peabody Chapel in North Manchester, Indiana, with Rev. Sue Babovec officiating. Calling hours for family and friends will be one hour prior the service at the Peabody Chapel. Burial will be at a later date in Falls Cemetery in Wabash, Indiana. George Traver

George Traver, 88, of LaFontaine, Indiana passed away at 10:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 13, 2014 at Wabash County Hospital in Wabash, Indiana. He was born to the late William and Sylvia (Shannon ) Traver on March 22, 1926 in Kokomo, Indiana.
George married Inabelle O’Connell on July 3, 1947 they have been married for 66 years, she survives in LaFontaine. George was a tool maker at Fisher Body in Marion, Indiana for 35 years. George was a member of United Methodist Church in LaFontaine, Indiana. He was also a member of Knights of Rifleman, National Rifle Association of America and Wabash Gun Club. One of George’s favorite things in his life was going fishing, especially with his grandchildren Ryan and Alley.
 He is also survived by two sons, John Traver (Theresa) of LaFayette, Indiana and Jeff Traver of Wabash, Indiana; daughter, Mrs. Larry (Janet) Dailey of LaFontaine, Indiana; grandchildren, Keith Dailey, Chad Dailey, Angie Underwood, Allison Irvin, Ryan Traver, Jorden Traver, Chelsea Traver, and Alley Traver. He was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters.
Funeral Service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, May 17, 2014 at McDonald Funeral Home, LaFontaine Chapel 104 S. Main Street, LaFontaine, Indiana 46940. Burial will follow in the LaFontaine IOOF Cemetery in LaFontaine, Indiana 46940.

Ruth Miller

Ruth Miller, a lifetime resident of Wabash, Indiana passed away at 9:53 p.m. on Monday, May 12, 2014 at Wabash County Hospital in Wabash, Indiana.  She is now rejoicing in Heaven with those who went before her.  She was born to the late Ollis N. and Ermma (White) Miller on January 17, 1914 in Wabash County, Indiana.  Ruth lived to be 100 years of age.
Ruth was a 1932 graduate from Urbana High School. Ruth was known as a prayer warrior and she prayed often for her family and friends. Her prayers will be missed by many. Ruth attended Gods Bible School in Cincinnati, Ohio where she received her diploma in Missionary Training. Ruth was a member of the Wabash North Wesleyan where she served on the board. She also served as Missionary Treasurer and taught Sunday school for many years. She was a great caregiver to her stepmother and later to her dad. She worked at the Cyclone in Urbana for several years and she did general cleaning for others as well.
Ruth was preceded in death by two brothers and a sister. She is survived by three nieces, Virginia Ruth Smithers of Lagro, Indiana, Sharon (David) Pickett of Marion, Indiana, and Mary Ann Hunsucker of LaFontaine, Indiana.
Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 17, 2014 at McDonald Funeral Home, 231 Falls Avenue, Wabash, Indiana 46992, with Pastor Joe Kelly officiating. Burial will follow in the Huff Cemetery in Wabash County, Indiana.

Marcille L. Ranstead

Marcille L. Ranstead, 92, of Wabash, Indiana passed away at 2:55 p.m. on Saturday, May 10, 2014 at Bickford Cottage Healthcare of Wabash, Indiana. She was born to the late Marshall and Rena Mae (Metzger) Beigh on July 23, 1921 in North Manchester, Indiana. 

Marcille was a 1939 graduate of Silver Lake High School. She married Gene A. Ranstead on April 12, 1941 in North Manchester, Indiana, he survives. She was a homemaker to her family. She was a member of Peoria Church in Peru, Indiana. Marcille enjoyed gardening, fishing, cooking and being with her family.

She is also survived by a daughter, Mrs. Larry (Sharon) Tucker in Wabash, Indiana; eight grandchildren, Lynn Proebstle of Lagro, Indiana, Mrs. Joel (Julie) Thurman of Noblesville, Indiana, Cynthia McDonald of Wabash, Indiana, Matthew Christman (Kim) of Markle, Indiana, Angela Hawkins of Peru, Indiana, Melinda Hults of Peru, Indiana, Mark Hults (Dena) of Wabash, Indiana, and Christopher Hults (Alisha) of Peru, Indiana; and 21 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, daughter, brother and three sisters.

Funeral service will be 6 p.m. on Wednesday, May 14,  2014 at McDonald Funeral Home, 231 Falls Avenue, Wabash, Indiana 46992, officiating the service will be Pastor Brian Daniels. Burial will be at a later date in Breman Cemetery.

Wanda J. Nose

Wanda J. Nose, 76, passed away at 3:35 a.m. on Saturday, May 10, 2014 at Peabody Retirement Community in North Manchester, Indiana. She was born to the late William and Margie (Harmon) Burchett in Bays Branch, Kentucky on January 7, 1938.
She retired from General Tire of Wabash, Indiana and also worked at Kroger Egg. She is survived by two children, Mrs. Robert (Margie) Bowman of Converse, Indiana and Franklin “Chuck” Goble of South Haven, Michigan; two grandchildren, Mrs. Joe (Chelsea) Beard of Warsaw, Indiana and Kristen Goble of New York; sister, Mrs. Jerry (Alice “Karen”) Martin of Prestonsburg, Kentucky; and two great grandchildren, Hayden and Scarlett both of New York. She was preceded in death by a brother, William.

Lolita E. Lobdell


Lolita E. Lobdell, 92, of LaFontaine, Indiana passed away at 10:40 a.m. on Saturday, May 3, 2014 at Visiting Nurse Hospice Home in Fort Wayne, Indiana. She was born to the late DeWitt O. and Bertha A. (Myers) Weaver on December 9, 1921 in Grant County, Indiana.

She married Eugene F. Lobdell in 1940 in Huntington, Indiana, he passed away on April 13, 1994. She retired from Salamonie Reservoir D.N.R. as an office manager. She was a member of LaFontaine Christian Church in LaFontaine, Indiana and Order of Eastern Star. Lolita enjoyed needle point, traveling, and working in her yard.

She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Pat (Linda) Flinn of Peru, Indiana and Marsha Schave of Castle Rock, Colorado; two sisters, Eileen Silvers of LaFontaine, Indiana and Dee Hambeen of Cincinnati, Ohio; three grandchildren, J. Erick Flinn, Megan Schave, and K.G. Schave and one great grandchild, J.J. Flinn. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Maynard, Merrill, and Cecil Weaver.

Funeral service will be 3 p.m. on Tuesday, May 6, 2014 at McDonald Funeral Home, LaFontaine Chapel, 104 S. Main Street, LaFontaine, Indiana 46940, with Pastor Brad Wright officiating.
